Good morning, everyone! We're finally supposed to be in a 6 day stretch of dry, sunny, warm weather. Looking at 80s later this week, which I don't recall since maybe August last year. I think I can safely say we won't have to deal with any more snow for awhile. Hope everyone has as excellent a day as they can.

Wouldn't "Happy Monday" be an oxymoron? NM passed a mandatory sick leave law and I get to sit in on their webinar in about a half-hour. I hope they have one of their better presenters doing this one. OTOH, if it's not, the state is really good about posting the necessary info on the website and I'll just resort to reading it We'll be in the mid to high 90s this week, possibly hitting 100 next week. We're normally in the mid 80's this time of year. Oh well. At least we don't have any fire warnings like El Paso does. Well, not yet anyway.

Mom is safely off to her new adventure. We moved her to her assisted living apartment, right on the Oregon Coast. It's a nice little studio apartment. We got everything set up. She is a little nervous and anxious. She has NEVER been on her own. She has always had a boyfriend/husband (good or bad, mostly bad). The facility is very attentive and we know the person who runs it. I'm sure she will be making friends very soon. She's a social butterfly, so she will be out in the common rooms very soon.
For Mother's Day, we got her a digital picture frame and loaded it with pictures of everyone. It cycles thru the pictures so she will see all of us. I also got her a poppy plant that she will grow from the seeds. I figured she will want something to nurture and care for.
Hope everyone is doing well!

Good afternoon. Glad I put in for a sick day today. Had an eye exam this morning where they used longer lasting dilating eye drops. Still can’t be out in the sun. Getting the house ready for the cleaners. Ugh.

Happy belated Mother's Day to all the mom's of kids and pets. Shopped today and then ran into Target for something real quick. Not a Target shopper and now I remember why. Their prices are so high compared to what I'm used to, WM has a customer for life.

I haven't shopped in Target in years and their high prices are exactly why. Plus their grocery selection is not up to par with Walmart and I don't like their clothes

Target used to get really cool, fun seasonal stuff in, and in most all departments (not just clothing). Then they decided to add groceries to all the stores, which took up floor space and reduced the amount of regular space they had for other goods. That's when the cool seasonal stuff went away and now they just carry the boring year round stuff. They're big on neutrals (ugh). The seasonal offerings were fun ways to add a bit of color to your living room, bathroom, kitchen etc without having to redecorate the whole place. Heck, even the back to school dorm stuff is boring now. With the fun stuff is gone, I only shop Target if they happen to have something I can't get anywhere else.

Glad to hear your mom is off to her new life - sounds like a wonderful location. She'll probably wish she had done this years ago. Though I'm certain she'll miss you and the kids, she'll have a good social life in no time and you guys aren't so far away. We got my aunt one of those picture devices and she loved it. The sun actually came out today and it warmed up into the 50s, so I was sitting outside after going to the GW tag day sale, waiting for my yummy veggie tacos. There are dark black clouds on the horizon but overhead it was very blue! The taco truck is right near where our ever-replenishing junk pile used to be (that a bunch of us used to go through on the regular), but it's a good trade - their food is very good. There's also a tiny bamboo farm just behind it.

Yay ! This site is okay now? I checked earlier on my cell, but the whole site was down.
Jeremy-that sounds great for your mom! She will be able to interact with people her age, which will be good for her.
We finally have nice weather and I have spent a lot of time pruning my flowering shrubs and planting flowers and veggies.
I was finally able to mow yesterday on my lawn tractor. And then an ambulance with lights flashing, pulled into my driveway. Somehow my alert necklace went off (no idea how). Phillips had called my cell twice, my landline twice, my daugher twice (she ignored it, thinking it was a scammer). I even got a call from the ambulance company. I didn't snwer any of the calls since I was outside. The EMT's were super nice as we tried to figure out the problem. I pressed the button to call them, but we couldn't understand what sthe lady was saying. But she didn't seem to have a record of my possibly falling...
So I don't know if I hit the button while mowing. I keep it tucked under my T-shirt and if I let it hang outside, it would be bouncing around even more.
Anything for attention....am I.

Hello, hope everyone is doing ok. We are hot and hot and more hot here. I will have to water the grass and plants tomorrow, the rain we had Thursday is pretty much dried up
Wishing your mom a quick adjustment Jeremy, I'm sure she'll be making friends in no time. My mom has never been a social person but she's actually made friends in the nursing home and already gotten quite close to her new roommate. I wish she could manage assisted living but her memory is just too bad for that.
I hope all the mom's had a nice mother's day. DS called, older DD and I did a video chat and youngest DD came over for a visit so it was a really nice day. And DH and I watched CODA which we really enjoyed. Even if I did get a bit teary at the end lol.
DH has his continuing education this Saturday. He's doing it via Zoom even though they are back to doing it in person, because for some reason they aren't having any classes in the city proper!? I mean in a city of this size, that's crazy. They are located quite a ways outside the city so he opted for online. That means he'll be on my computer most of the day, but I guess I can use that as motivation to do a photo session, I really need to get one done.
Well Denise that sounds like quite the adventure

denise15601, it appears the infected site notice was a false positive on the part of AVG. Sounds like there is never a dull moment at your place! I'm glad that, too, was a false warning! I'm not motivated to work today so I decided to do some of the "mindless busy work" I need to do for work. We're upgrading to Quickbooks 2022 so I'm updating all my assigned clients to the new version. Doesn't take much mental thinking thank goodness. Sunny and low 90s here today. We're forecast to hit 100 next week, ugh. Hopefully by the time next week arrives, that forecast temp will have dropped a bit.

We got a notice late afternoon yesterday our premises will be entered as part of bank inspection of the property on Thursday so I've been a cleaning fool all day and still have stuff I want to get done before then. Suzy Homemaker I am not. Just hope other than we have a lot of stuff, it's all neat and clean and everything's in order and they're here and gone and we pass muster. Thank goodness I have 2 days to make the place look as nice as possible. On a positive note, it's already looking a lot better and I'm getting a nice workout.
Jeremy, I'm glad your mom's happy where she's at and bet she'll wish she'd gone there earlier. That sounds like a great location and you know who runs the place so you know she'll be taken care of.

Beautiful weather here since Sunday and will continue all this week...in the 70's. I have my container garden mostly planted on my back porch railing...14 containers. Waiting for my daughter to go to Amish country where she will pick up some chery tomato "trees" for me. Very cheap and very high already.
Also bought a bunch of flowers to plant in front of my house. Meanwhile, working on pruning all of the flowering shrubs in front of my house. They are so pretty, but I just spent over an hour trimming off the old flowers from one Clethra bush. Lots more to go, including 2 butterfly bushes with 100's of dead flowers each.

Sounds like your property is about to have new owners. If that is the case (and don't expect the office to tell you that it is), they're mainly looking at the condition of appliances, carpet, flooring and possibly the HVAC system, not tenant contents.

That was the first thing that came to my mind also. No other reason that a bank would be inspecting a property.

They've had same management for awhile now (just different office people) and we've already had one inspection a few years ago with same management. Maybe they're just changing banks. If it's the "usual", they do a quick look to make sure exits are clear, major appliances are functioning, no water leaks or mold and at least place looks and smells clean. I actually made a lot of progress today so happy with that. I don't see why they'd want to sell a "cash cow" like this (and there's a "sister" complex about 10 miles away) since rent keeps going up and we now have to pay all utilities. Everything's in working order in here so there shouldn't be a problem, but you never know. All I can do is the best I can and hope we're okey dokey.
A quick google shows management might be looking to sell, refinance or use the property as collateral to purchase another property. Also a "bank inspection" is mainly to make sure the apartment is in 'rentable' condition (as aforementioned).

Only only ran in because it's next to GW and I needed some cheap laundry detergent for washing inventory but everyting was way way overpriced so I grabbed a frozen pizza for dinner and left. The pizza was oddly a little cheaper than WM.

It started in the more expensive metros but now no city is safe from what I can tell. In many cities, it's part of what is making rents go up so fast.

Saturday is graduation. It has rained the last few years on graduation and they are calling for rain. Everyone has to work. They are having a graduation for the class of 2020 on reunion weekend which is Memorial Day weekend. I took off that week way before they decided to announce it.
They gave us Juneteenth off as a holiday. Of course I have off that week. I would prefer to work and get the $$$ but I don’t want to come in for one day.

We're getting Junetenth off too. Actually, the sr partner decided the office would be closed on ALL the federal holidays this year except Columbus Day and Veterans Day, which they "use" for the day after Thanksgiving and the day before Christmas. Makes no sense since we'll be closed the other days, but whatever. I'm a contractor so I don't get paid but I also don't have to check for client messages or take calls those days so I'm happy. I think he decided to close because he wanted the 3 day weekends to golf.

If I didn't have to pay for it, for National Eat What You Want Day, I'd love to have a large, perfectly broiled lobster tail with warm butter to dip if wanted. I haven't had lobster tail in a very long time. And a portion of king crab legs, too. Forget the side dishes, give me the seafood!
As for the Twilight Zone, there are too many good episodes to pick a favorite or even a few favorites.

Well, we have had quite the day over here at my house. Around 6am this morning my dog woke me up shaking her water dish for more water. She never ever gets up that early to drink so I thought it was weird but I got her some water and went back to bed. I got up about an hour later and got ready for work and I was just about to leave when I see some shredded cardboard in the living room. I thought the dog had gotten into the recycling but as I picked it up my heart sank. At some point during the night she somehow got into the pantry, into the baking supplies in a basket, and ate an ENTIRE 4 oz bar of 60% cacao Ghirardelli baking chocolate.
I called the vet and they told me I needed to bring her in right away. We were both ready thankfully and put her in the car immediately and took her in. As soon as DH picked her up to put her in the he noticed her heart was beating extremely fast. They took us back right away and we saw a vet within about 3 minutes of getting there. They were able to induce vomiting but unfortunately it did not get as much out as we'd hoped. They decided to keep her there the whole day and I am so glad they did as she ended up needing more medicine to control her heartrate and blood pressure. She is home now and we have a follow-up visit on Friday and DH is working from home the next two days so she will not be alone.
I feel terrible that she got into it. I just never expected she would get into a basket in the pantry when she has never gotten into the pantry in her almost 5 years. Why, oh why, did she choose the chocolate instead of the Cheese Its? So just a PSA, if you have a dog, keep your baking cocoa bars under lock and key!

Wow - you and your DH got on that fast and I'm glad! I remember having to keep a few things that were possible choking hazards out of the inquisitive paws of our furry-butt cat because she was a little dim and tended to try to eat everything, including ear plugs.
Ugh - found out one of our close neighbours has Lou Gehrig's - She's not that old (the DH remembers when she was still in high school 30 years ago) and I thought she had had a stroke because she was holding herself stiffly and one side appeared to be affected. I was chatting with her little grandson (her DH is older than she is by a bit and the boy is actually his grandson) and she came out with some packing materials for me. I could tell something was wrong, and after I thanked her I asked her if she was OK. She said "Oh, you didn't know - I have Lou Gehrigs." She's taking it really well, but her speech is already affected and she can't drive and sometimes can barely eat, and she's only a bit over a year on. I never know what to say when I hear awful news like that, and just told her if I can do anything, give her a ride, come over and help at the house, anything, just call or text - her sister has the house between her and my house and we chat a lot and she has my number. She has a good support system, but just in case, the DH and I are there for her, as well as others in our little road, I am certain.
Cripes, makes any problems I have pretty danged small.
