Good morning, everyone, and welcome to May. We're still in the below normal weather temps and plenty of rain in the forecast, so those May flowers better be popping up this month. Best part of this week will be Cinco de Mayo. Hope everyone has an awesome day!

We had a storm last night. Woke me up. Hoping it dries a bit before going out walking.
Hope to get some photos of some flowers at work today. Just that they are near the street so I have to time it right.

Got a Happy Hour scheduled today after a busy weekend in the front yard planting, mowing, and mulching. Also had to release a cat from an idiot neighbor's trap on Sunday morning after she caught a neighborhood cat and was too intimated by the pissed off cat to let it out. Not only did I give her a scolding because she keeps letting her own cat get beaten up by some feral cat that she has never seen but I confiscated her trap. City ordinance does not allow residents to be trapping animals on their own. If she kept the damn cat in the house, the poor kitty would not have been in the cat hospital on three different occasions. Her excuse was that the cat begs with it's eyes to go outside. You can only imagine my reaction. I don't work for the city so I don't have to watch my words or attitude.

Hey furry baby lovers--check out this stuff (socks) and read the story about this business. Enjoy! johnscrazysocks.com/collections/petsAlso, apparently the world trade center was hit on top by lightning at about 6 this morning. I can't understand this but it woke me up (I am miles away in upper Manhattan!). The bright flash and the loudest boom I've ever heard. Freaked me out as I thought the Russias were coming. No lie. It was like a bomb went off. And then several bombs in succession came, much lower. Yikes... I still can't believe that was the cause of a really frightening occurrence.

Just checking in again, I am doing good working in yard and house, bought new quilt set for my bed. Sunday I went with my DS to cheer his future wife on while she ran a 1/2 marathon. DS and I walked all over and met her at about 7 spots through out the city to cheer. Then my friend called and asked if I wanted to walk with her, I never say no to her so off I went, 25K steps about 10 miles on Sunday.
Monday my massage guy asked if I wanted to go morel mushroom hunting, it is a big thing around here in the spring, it was a hike deep into woods, across the river a couple of times on trees that were down used like balance beams and rocks like stepping stones. This was a little out of my comfort zone, DH and I hiked all the time but stayed on the trails. We found one mushroom, he said it is about 2 days too early based on the other plants in the area. He asked if I wanted to try again on Thursday, I told him sure. He is just a genuinely nice guy and really just concerned for my well being as his best friend passed away 2 years ago and his wife committed suicide one year to the day after her husband died. He said he has his eye on me and won't let that happen to anyone else in his life again. We went to high school together, then he married into my best friends family and was good friends with DH, then divorced out of it but I refused to give up my great masseuse so I have been going to him for years. I was a little concerned that yesterday would be awkward and it might make things weird but he truly was just there as a friend so I was relieved.
Things are finally calming a little, I am contemplating rescuing a puppy or dog but not rushing into that just contemplating at this point. I still have 2 birds left and one is loose in house most of the time so I have to take Stinky into consideration because she was here first and it is not fair to her to be caged all the time. Lots to think about so no rushing. Still waiting on medical insurance refund (was told 6 weeks or more) and life insurance (2 to 5 months) so just keeping them on my radar not worrying yet.
Hope everyone has lots of sale and a great week!

allikat, it's wonderful that you have supportive people around and that you are getting out and doing things. My, that's a lot of exercise (she says from her go-to place, lying on the couch)! I hope you are also eating well. Ultimately, a puppy or two is a great idea. They nourish the soul.

Hello, hope everyone is doing well. We had a busy week last week. DS asked if I could come over Thursday and help him pack and I said sure, then DH found out he had to work at 2 am Thursday because they were pouring concrete. So we had to get up at 1 am and I was able to get back to sleep for a bit before I had to get up and exercise and walk Janey then help DS. And omg what a disorganized mess that was, yikes. DH got home before me and we were so tired we took a nap in the afternoon, it was a long day.
On Wednesday in broad daylight someone got into the back of his work van and stole his personal power tools He has an extra lock on the back and it was off so he could unload something he just came in to bring his lunch stuff and use the bathroom and poof. They opened the van and pulled out his dolly and crawled over bags of gravel in BROAD daylight, boy the nerve. They probably got about $1,200 worth of his personal tools. I bought a camera from Amazon, I am still waiting for the memory card to get here. It has an alarm, too. I hope I can figure it all out.
Saturday we had optometrist appointments for new glasses, we gave America's Best a try. It was more affordable and we liked the eye dr but they have a lot of customers and it was quite a wait. We get our glasses online from Zenni and they were very nice about giving us the pupillary distance and not trying to sell us glasses there.
Allikat I'm glad you are getting out and doing things with friends. A dog/puppy is such a wonderful companion
Wow Val you have the worse problems with your Amazon packages, how frustrating!

If anyone is planning a trip this summer, book your rental car now. Prices are better than last year, but still not like they were before COVID. But hey, $57/day is still a heck of a lot better than $100/day! Rates appear to still be fairly high though for last minute car rentals. /PSA Cloudy and humid here today. Bleah.

I decided to drive to the reunion this year. Flight times were not convenient and the cost of airfare was too high. I may check one more time later this week.

I'm surprised he hasn't been reported multiple times to eBay. I think that he has since he no longer gives out their eBay ID's. And his threat petered out. He meant to say that he saves their address, etc.
I haven't posted all of his latest complaints. 5 total negs and neutrals in a month.

I'm surprised he hasn't been reported multiple times to eBay. I reported him a couple of years ago when he was posting buyers' real names in his responses. EBay did not remove them.

The Clothing Buzz Will Go On...See,everybody this is what honest customers think about me,the only issues I have is with dishonest buyers. Sellers contact me so you can block these buyers. Did you know that most negative feedbacks are result competitors using a buyer account or scammers, not because of bad sellers. When I receive a negative my sales increase every time. 400 orders sold every month but already this month I know I am going to surpass that thanks to honest buyers like this one.

"When I receive a negative my sales increase every time."
So, I guess his plan is to get more negatives so his sales will go through the roof!

Best thing ever! I was driving home from Walmart this afternoon and had to make the block because I was not sure that I saw what I thought I saw. Meet Pepper who buys her tops at Amazon so she won't lick all the fur off her tummy each spring. I told her owner there was an allergy shot for that. Pepper was out with her owner doing yard work.

I assume the cat has to have a certain temperament for someone to be able to put on a tee (and that looks quite form fitting) or is there a trick to get cooperation needed for that accomplishment?
I've never seen a cat wearing clothes like that. I do remember Barney didn't look thrilled stuffed into a hot dog costume. Chuckling picturing that attempted on Harley who looked like he was ready to claw someone's face off just wearing a bow tie.
Pepper does look cute in that shirt.

Well we had some much needed storms last night and some rain cooled air this morning which was really nice. I decided to do some weeding this morning while it was cool because apparently the Preen is useless, there's just as many weeds as there usually is I guess I'm on the hunt for something more effective.
I am excited because an adjacent neighborhood (more affluent, as well) is having their annual neighborhood garage sale tomorrow. They haven't done it since 2019, before the pandemic. I always find fun stuff, some for ebay, some for myself. This year they gave a url and it's a google doc and 32 houses are participating. So we'll be out for a while in the morning, I am looking forward to it. I miss garage sales a lot.

We'll be in the 90s for the next week-10 days. Too hot for this time of year. Oh well, as long as the humidity is reasonable I'll survive

It's raining again and only 54 and finishing the week in the 50s and more rain. At least next week looks promising in at least 70s (one local channel says mid 70s Wednesday and Thursday, another mid 80s) and less chance of rain so something to look forward to. We're still in the a/c and short sleeves a couple days and hoodie and heat on the next few weather.

There are worse things, like dryer sheets or threatening notes about being "investigated" if you leave less than positive feedback.

I remember the dryer sheets. It's just raining and chilly here as usual - the DH is complaining that the forecast is nothing but rain for the next 10 days. I'm fine with that but it bothers him - I think it troubles his mood. He takes vitamin D and I suggested a small sunlight lamp but he doesn't want to try that. I still can't run but at least will be seeing the doc in a week and a half - I've been hobbling for almost a month on this heel (I think it's a heel spur) - takes forever to get in to see a doc, and it'll probably take another forever if they have to send me to a podiatrist. I have fenders on my bike to deal with the wet, though, and am riding more. Even signed up for an organised bike ride down in Oregon - the DH is doing a century, mine is only 30 miles, but we're staying at the Oregon Garden so I will be in the gardens while he finishes his ride, and it gives me a chance to ride the little open-air train they have to give tours. For some odd reason, for decades I've had a recurring dream that I'm riding along in one of those little trains. People fly, others move magically - in my dreams I'm either on foot or riding in one of those little trains.

Good grief. The employee shortage has hit the vet offices. I can't even get Toby in to see an ER vet until around 8:00 am, but by then his regular vet will be open and I'll call them and see if I can drop him off. Holy cow. Thank goodness for online virtual vet visits!
