Good morning everyone! Looks like our weather didn't check the calendar it's supposed to be spring because we got a few inches of snow over the weekend and temps are definitely winter in the 20s feeling like single digits and teens with windchill. The rollercoaster continues with 2 day warmup mid-week and back down again by weekend, but at least 40s-50s instead of 20s. Still hoping it won't be much longer before I'll be whining about how hot and humid it is, lol.
Hope everybody has a happy day today!

I don’t watch the Oscars but I heard there was some excitement last night. Sure was! I was watching/listening, and when the program suddenly muted, it sure caught my attention. I thought that the show was more interesting than in the past years, with the 3 hosts.

I don’t watch the Oscars but I heard there was some excitement last night. I won't be surprised to find out it was scripted to try to get people to start watching again. The Oscars lost 56% of viewers in 2021 from previous year. Chris Rock has declined to file a police report which adds to my belief. I find it hard to believe Will Smith would be that stupid to get up in front of millions of witnesses and slap him unless he knew there weren't going to be any consequences. And no, I didn't watch the show, it was on the news this morning.

They are saying it wasn’t staged. Not sure. The memes are funny though.
Just not right to make fun of her disability/medical issue though. Bullying.

I thought that the show was more interesting than in the past years, with the 3 hosts. A meme popped up in my FB feed this morning that I wish I'd saved. It was something like, "the Oscars had three women hosts because the producers were too cheap to hire 1 man".

Will laughed at first, until he saw his wife's reaction. But the slap was carrying it too far. Perhaps Will should have just shouted back.

There was an article in the NY Times this morning that said Chris Rock had made Will Smith's wife the butt of a joke a few years ago, and this reaction was probably to having the same thing done a second time They also reported what was said during the period that the network muted - the F-word was shouted at least twice, as in, "Keep my wife's name out of your f***-ing mouth!"I don't think THAT was scripted!

My first thought was now that Will is throwing punches again, maybe he should be sent back to live with his aunt Viv.

Just the usual here, 40s and raining, though it has been twilight all day - we'll get days when the sun never seems to rise in the middle of winter, but not usually in March.
Trying hard to get any interest in working but I'd rather nap.
Memes for that stupid Oscars thing are all over, with the expected throw-away T-shirts cranked out already. Some of them are pretty funny, though!

Partly sunny and 80 here today. Bleh. That's too hot for this time of year. A few weeks of mid-70s would have been nicer.

23 degrees here with frigid wind. About an inch of snow. Ridiculous.

Currently 78 and cloudy. Looks like it could rain. This is VERY good. We were getting way too close to 100.

I hope that my daffodils survived the frost. I have hundreds along my driveway but only a few had opened.

I didn't watch the Oscars, but I saw all the references to the Will thing on the fashion shows & red carpet shows. Is it just me or does anyone else think it's weird, that a grown man, supposedly a tough guy, SLAPPED someone else? Seems like such a sissy thing to do. Like if you're a tough guy & you're going to take the violence route, wouldn't you punch them? What's up with a guy slapping another guy? Weird.
On another note, I did not like most of the dresses either, I hated the breast cups on several of them, like Tracee Ellis Ross & that "queer brown girl" (what she called herself) who won. It looked better on her, than Tracee, but didn't look good on either one. I hated all the pale pink too.

Sebastian Yatra's pink tux was pretty cool. Rosie Perez' red dress was gorgeous. Reba McEntire's emerald dress was really pretty too, but she almost always has a great dress. Way too many women had on black though - boring. And Denzel Washington has really gained some serious weight

I don't get the people who just stood there by the side of the road. Me, I'd be running for the trees, to get as far away from the road and spinning cars as I could

I wouldn't have to worry about the bears, I'd be cussing loud enough to scare them

zoesam - an open handed slap is for two reasons - the first is admonishment, rather than damage - as a former boxer I can say that an open-handed slap hurts, but that's it - a punch is an entirely different thing. The second is a sign of 'disrespect', a slap rather than a punch is saying that the other guy isn't worth breaking your knuckles on. I will say that in this context either one is simply a symbol of men being unable to react in a more adult way to situations like this. But a slap at least minimized any damage.
The entire episode was so stupid, but seems on par for the kind of fame-baiting the Oscars are. And their ugly 'gowns.'

There was a squirrel on the patio this morning. Simon just happened to be looking out the sliding glass door so he saw the squirrel. Stupid squirrel was either so brazen (or so friendly) that he didn't run away when I opened up the patio door. He did run like hell, however, when he realized Simon had shot out the door and was after him. Oops! However, he ran along the ledge on the outside of the metal railing and Simon stuck his head thru the railing to see where the squirrel went. Not good. Simon is still a kitten and would think nothing of going thru the railing and trying to walk on the ledge. He's also klutzy enough he would probably fall off of that ledge, and I'm on the second floor. Guess I'll finally be putting up the netting on the railing this weekend

Hello everybody. It's warm and windy here today, with a front coming through early tomorrow which is supposed to bring us storms (we definitely need rain) then nicer weather for a few days. I'll take it, I can feel summer's approach already And I still want to plant a few things and mulch so hopefully we are still in store for some nice weather before summer really settles in here.
Well I didn't watch the Oscars (yawn) but I definitely heard about and saw the slap. I was really gob smacked. I spent years teaching my kids that you don't hit someone just because they said something you don't like. I guess celebrities have carte blanche? I understand he felt offended for and protective of his wife, but that is not how a grown adult handles himself. If you have ever seen Ricky Gervais host the golden globes, he just eviscerates celebrities and no one has ever slapped him. Comedians are provocateurs, I mean that's literally their jobs. I always liked Will Smith, but not anymore. I guess I'm surprised there's not more outrage. It's like people are saying well he was offended, so it was ok? I mean if it was ok to slap someone because they said something you didn't like, people would be slapping each other all over the place. I hope there are consequences for his actions. End of rant lol.
I got my photo session done Saturday, yay! Then a trip to Goodwill Sunday, and Monday a tired back lol.

I don't know if ya'll's ND is like the one in my neighborhood but it is a gem for getting things done. My tree guy came from a ND recommendation and he was great. These small independent business guys show up on schedule, give you a fair price while not trying to upsell you like the big companies do, and then actually show up again on time to do the work.
To top it all off, if you need something else done like painting, landscaping, roofing, carpentry, installing water softeners, or just about anything else you can think of, they have an in-law, a brother, a cousin, or an uncle who can do the job. Know one of these guys and you are set with a network for whatever you need done.

That's what I did when looking for people to do my tree removal, driveway paving and landscaping (which I will be paying for forever). Posts usually get dozens of replies, if not more. My tree guy tore down my huge maple tree for $600. Other estimates were up to $1,000.
There's even guys who will pick up scrap appliances for free to recycle.
