Good morning one and all. It's officially spring but still on the chilly side around here this week. Better than snow, but not counting that out until buds show up on the trees that have wised up to the rollercoaster weather the last couple years. Happy Spring to hopefully finally kicking winter to the curb and hope everyone has a marvelous day!

First day we have had rain in a long time so not complaining. I need to get some things done in this house but not really motivated. House stuff is not my thing.

Weird! I think I've been to that one when I used to visit my ex's family in North Omstead years ago. IIRC, it has been there for quite a while. Stupid crook tricks. It's just regular rain here today - the DH has lived here virtually all of his life and still complains about it. No, he will not have any success in having me move to a drier climate. Bulbs are up, though - we have a huge representation of bulbs because (1) They love our climate and (2) One of the biggest bulb growing regions is north of us - we have a tulip festival, a daffodil bike ride, etc. One of the perks of running around my area is seeing the bulbs come up. Into summer it's the amazing dahlias and rhodies.

I know which one you're thinking of that wasn't far from where Cafe Stratos used to be (I think it closed when new one was built). The one that got robbed was built where the former building that was last a Laz-y-Boy furniture and stood empty for years. If you were down as far as Lorain and Dover Center, you might remember Ari's restaurant that used to be on the opposite corner from Starbucks.

Wind was blowing so hard yesterday that I lost one of my Chinese lanterns on the patio I took the other two down for now. Woke up to rain this morning, but we've dried out now. I did see a severe storm warning and tornado watch on the weather app, for later this evening. For anyone with a weather app on their phone, check out the full US doppler radar. The current storm is pretty big, looks like the central US is in for a rough ride.

Never went to Ari's restaurant - when I visited we ate strictly at my ex's parents house (his mom was a good cook).
We DID go into Cleveland to the harbor there and also to visit the museum of rock. I actually loved Cleveland, I thought it was a neat city. I also had friends in Euclid who took us around. They moved back to Seattle where they had been born and raised, and I divorced so never got back to Cleveland.

Sunny and 69 today, 67 tomorrow and then we hit the low 80s by the weekend. I think I figured out why my lantern blew off. I change the hook from a fairly heavy long white one to a shorter, lightweight black one. I think the heavier weight of the original hook helped anchor the lantern (which has no weight at all to speak of) because there were many windy days and the lanterns stayed put. Guess I'll go back to the heavy hangers again. I can't reorder though because the 3 pack I bought on AMZ is no longer offered, and for some reason the overall price of these very cheap items has skyrocketed. I guess we're getting into the party/wedding season so the demand is up and sellers can get higher prices.

81 today but it's supposed to be 97 on Sunday so I guess we'll get to see how well the new air conditioner works. Jut got back from the UPS store, I had to get some copies made. The lady behind me was holding two Cologuard boxes. I hope someday they consider making those boxes more discreet.
Today is a stay in my pj's and work on Ebay stuff all day kind of day. BFF was telling me she ordered a Pura home freshener system. Looked them up and now I want one but trying to resist the urge for now. I've been spending too much money on stuff that I don't really need lately.

We had a scary evening with tornados south, west and east of us. All were 10 miles or a little less from us. We are north of Austin, Texas. Most of this happened between 5:30 & 7:00 pm. Austin TV stations were reporting on all the watches, warnings and sightings. They had crews chasing the storms and sending pictures, etc. The worst part of the storm system was just moving out of our area when our electricity went off at 7. It stayed off until 10. During that time we had some bouts of heavy rain, but not much wind.
We cooked and ate with light from our oil lamp. We have a gas stove, just have to light the burners with a match or lighter. We had anticipated this scenario from the forecoasts so were prepared with a menu we could prepare easily on the stove.
I don't use my cell phone much because the service is spotty at our house, but it stayed on during the electricity outage. We have outages often so I'm set up to automatically get texts from the provider about outages and updates on repair. I don't have to call them, just open the message so they know I've received it and sometimes give brief replies. It's helpful except when the electricity comes back on in the middle of the night. This always wakes me and sometimes I just get back to sleep before they call to check if my service has been restored. That's actually necessary because sometimes I have to reply that it really isn't.

We had lots of lightening last night, some thunder, but no rain at my house. The bad stuff passed north of me I think.

That's actually necessary because sometimes I have to reply that it really isn't. We had the same storms through here early this morning, 6ish. Luckily it wasn't too severe here, we did not lose power at any time. Very glad for that. Now it's sunny and breezy and cool, like nothing at all happened! That's good about the texts from the provider, I've never heard of that, but sucks that you lose power a lot Janey and I had to wait our walk this morning and I still stepped in a million puddles and soaked my shoes.
We got to meet mom's roommate yesterday on our visit, and she is a lovely woman. She has broken a hip before and has mobility issues but cognitively she seems fine. She said she had a difficult roommate before mom so they seem to be a perfect match. Mom is certainly a lot happier. They will come here for lunch next Monday. I will do spaghetti, it's easy. I'm not really in the habit of cooking a big lunch, because I cook dinner too and I don't have a lot of pots and pans and end up doing a bunch of dishes.
DH had ordered new tires for the Falcon, the took forever to come in, then Discount tires apparently lost them. They have finally arrived so DH will be gone Saturday morning getting them mounted and I will be here doing a photo session. It's like doing the elliptical. I absolutely dread doing it but I'm SO glad when it's done lol.
Bliss I am wondering where you live that it's already going to be 97?

Yes, that saying is very accurate! We do get some humidity during monsoon season in the summer. It's nothing like places in other regions but lately I seem to notice more than ever before and sometimes wonder if it's something new. I'm sure it isn't.

I was surprised because it seemed like it was all going to be east moving south according to the radar forecast that I had been watching.

I was watching radar on weather.com before the system hit us. It showed the entire system moving from west to east and the shower cells moving from southwest to northeast. SW to NE is the typical path of tornadoes and that's how they moved here yesterday. They were not very dense, funnels wide like dust devils in the desert. Most did not stay on the ground long. Some were very short lived. Some went down a bit, jumped up & moved over before touching down again. This is not the usual behavior around here, more like in Oklahoma or Kansas.
There was a lot of lightning cloud to cloud, too high to even hear very much; another indication of the extreme turmoil in the upper atmosphere. It was very interesting to anyone who has studied meteorology (I have a little), but still scary.

Partly cloudy (or partly sunny if you're more an optimist that the weather forecaster is) and 61 here today. Two of the cats are on the patio enjoying the birds, the blowing leaves and the sun. Trixie, the smart one, is up on the cat corner of the desk where I can easily scratch her under the chin (which I do frequently LOL).

I am hoping that was a mistype and you really meant 71.
61 is way too cold for me to be spreading mulch this afternoon.

sunsetpainter - it's like that here. We'll have temps in the 60s day after day and then suddenly it's 85 and people get all red faced and cranky because we've had no time to acclimatize. Then after a day or two temp drops back into the 60s or low 70s and then bam! We get another few days of this. Yesterday evening was very pleasant - the drizzle stopped, the clouds parted and it was very nice out. My friend and I went out for a peaceful run (he's recovering from hiking and then the LA Marathon a few days ago). I went to orangetheory before and along with the weights we had a half hour of intervals on the treadmills. OK, I knew that was coming. But then my friend couldn't join me until 45 min after class, so I figured I may as well start my run as I didn't want to cool down. So I run a few miles and he shows up, we run some more, then Dickens the dog gets into the car and my friend said "did you want to stop now or keep running?" I said "let's keep running" as he was looking very hopeful that we'd keep going - then we lost track of time - then we decided we should use the loo at a park so detour down there, another few miles, another few miles, another few miles. I'm in so-so shape for all of this and by the time we got back to our cars I was really dragging and even my energizing bunny friend looked tired. So we went grocery shopping lol. Today the rain is really coming down so I'm glad we had our adventure yesterday. The thing about the long days is that it stays light enough to do this and still be seen - for about six months of the year we basically do all of our running in the dark unless he can get out during the weekend.

Weatherbug was way off the mark. It is 70 right now and I think was a couple of degrees higher an hour ago. After tomorrow we hit a big stretch in the mid 80s. My kind of weather is arriving.
