Good morning everyone! Our wonderful 60s taste of spring is gone and back to 30s reality with rain today and tomorrow will wake up to an inch of snow. March is the most fickle month of the year around here. Hoping everybody has a great day and manages to keep heads above water with the price of everything getting out of control.

Weatherbug says we'll hit 69 today but the local forecast and weather.com say nope, only 53. It's not the first time weatherbug has screwed up a forecast Corporate tax returns are due next week so this week is really busy at work. Guess I better go make a pot of hot tea and get back to work.

It was 60 degrees all day yesterday, 50 last night and we are on our way up to over 60 today. What a relief!
Called 4 more oil delivery suppliers to check prices today and found them all lower, highest was 4.99 vs 5.36 I was charged last week. Got on the phone and called our oil company, laid it all out how they upped us 50 cents last month, now another 1.26 this month, so that's a 1.76 jump in 7 weeks. Told him that was questionable as two places had told me it was unheard of, jumps aren't that drastic, etc, etc. I do realize that the other places want new business, so asked them their regular today rate, not their introductory price for new customers.
Anyway, our sales rep dropped our bill for this delivery down to 4.90 from 5.36 per gallon, so I'm OK with the 46-cents per gallon drop, saves us about 75.00 dollars on this delivery. It just makes me wonder how they play games with these bills. He explained about the BioHeat in their oil that makes it better than others, burns more efficiently and cleaner, not all oil companies use it, but I need to research that to see what it is and who has it. Can't wait to shut this furnace off for the season.
Going to go outside and try to do some Spring cleanup on dead foliage. Our temps won't stay this high and we'll be down lower this week so want to take advantage of the outdoors. This guy I spoke with was pretty nice, he used to work for a pest control service - gave me some good hints on how to keep the squirrels and bears away from the bird feeders with crushed ghost peppers. Never heard of them. It doesn't affect the birds but the squirrels hate it as do the bears. I need to research this too.

A bit chilly and windy for yard activities today so two choices...Clean this house or organize a Happy Hour. Around here a last minute Happy Hour is never hard to put together. Great way to start the week.

We had a warm weekend and were in the 80s yesterday, but a front came thorough this morning with wind and rain and it's now in the 50s and windy. I did get my yard work done Saturday. Lots of dead things to trim and for some reason my yard gets tons of clover every year. They are such a pain to weed, they grow in clumps and the root is a warty looking white ball with a liquid looking sac I sat on a crate most of the day and man I am still feeling it! But the yard looks really good lol.
We went to see mom this morning and had to visit inside due to the weather. We got to see mom's new room and we didn't see the roommate (the curtain was closed) we sure could hear her complaining and cursing. Mom has asked them to move her again. She said she understands why this lady complains all the time, but she doesn't want to hear it. My sister finally got them to trim her nails and set her up to be seen by the dr when he's next in. She probably needs to see a cardiologist as well, it's been a while and she gets short of breath really quickly.
Desire that is so crazy about the oil. I bet you will be so glad when winter is over! Even though we have high electricity bills here in the summer due to the heat, they can't compare to that at all.

Gas is at $4.459 today. I guess I have to start topping off my tank every few days. 77 degrees today & I am wearing shorts at work (and on my walk). Cooler weather is returning.

If she has a pre-existing heart condition, a cardio visit sooner would be better than later Busy day today. I started at 9:30 a.m., finished at 10:30 p.m. It will be forever before I go to sleep, because I forgot to turn on the nightlight feature on the computer and now I'm wide awake

Just got the buyer of the package that went missing being returned for providing an old address to submit an insurance form. I uploaded the documents that were required by me. Not sure what happens next, probably just wait. No one from USPS responded to the missing mail search that I submitted on 2/26.
Coloring my hair at the moment with something new. Has anyone tried Schwarzkopf Simply Color? I rarely go to Fry's but spied it when I was there last and decided to give it a try. It's a whole lot different than the Loreal Performing Preference that I've been using for decades. So far I'm not a fan of they way it goes on (thick and creamy) but we'll see.
Just rinsed it out and I'm kind of impressed. It left my hair soft instead of tangled and traumatized like it usually is. It doesn't have the harsh smell of traditional hair colors either. Hopefully there is an upcoming market for the little tubes of condition. I'm seeing the the color kits but no listings for just the tubes of conditioner.

I started at 9:30 a.m., finished at 10:30 p.m. It will be forever before I go to sleep, because I forgot to turn on the nightlight feature on the computer and now I'm wide awake Yes she got stents when she was in her 50s and a valve replacement about 15 years ago, plus she's had high blood pressure and diabetes for years. The issue is my sister has the POA and is the one that deals with the facility. She will try to call once then not get an answer and not bother after that. I will say she's got her own stresses right now and she's VERY EASILY overwhelmed but it's frustrating for me. Then again after she left me hanging on my own when mom broke her hip I told them both then I've done what I'm willing to do, I'm out. So I'm trying to walk a fine line. And my sister frets over mom being so frail, and then doesn't want to do the work of getting a dr appointment?
Well it's a very raw, cold, rainy day here. Janey and I got our walk in this morning (after we had a TERRIBLE thunderstorm) and we are in for the day. I believe the sun is supposed to come back tomorrow. We definitely needed the rain so at least there's that.
DH and I are due for eye exams for glasses, we've just been waiting for the covid cases to come back down (which they have). We went to Sears optical 2 years ago but now they have shut down. I've called a few places and it seems like it's pretty much $90, we paid $50 two years ago. I'm wondering if they've gone up that much everywhere? I called America's Best and they have a "free" exam with the purchase of 2 pair of glasses that we never qualify for as we have progressive lenses. I've been getting glasses from Zenni optical and been really pleased. About 4 years ago we had vision insurance and my glasses were still almost $400! At Zenni they are $75-$85, so really we just need the exam.

I went to an Ophthalmologist and my medical insurance paid for the visit with just a copay. I don't know if that would help with the cost, he did a much more thorough exam also. Just a thought.
I am hanging in here, still cleaning and organizing. Getting out of house a little more than I was, went for a massage and coffee with a friend. Yesterday was a down day but today is much better, it is very up and down.

Gas in our area is all over the board. I was in our next town over this afternoon and the price of regular was 5.36 per gallon. Never thought I'd see it go over 5.00 gallon around here. In town here we are at 4.85 up from 3.85 last Thursday. I imagine we'll be over 5.00 by the end of the week here. Weather is really warm here again today. Wore my Spring jacket instead of my winter coat - what a relief it is to feel Spring coming.

Mesquite trees are leafing out and red bud trees are blooming so we are done with freezes here. Maybe a few chilly nights left but the hard freezes are done.

Another busy day here today. We have a "bookkeeper" who doesn't understand basic (and I mean BASIC) accounting and it's tiring to deal with her. I suggested to my boss that we sit this lady down after April 15, tell her she needs to take a basic accounting/bookkeeping course, has to complete it by X, and has to pass it. It can't make anything any worse, and if she still doesn't get it we have grounds to fire her. I'm not even signing into email, slack or our client communication portal tomorrow until after I finish some biz tax returns that I have ready to go. Guess I'll go fix dinner. I think a salad will work this late.

It started snowing about a half-hour ago and it's coming down steady. Yesterday it was 60 degrees and we wore spring coats, today back to winter coats, it's 35 degrees. Went to check the weather and it said winter storm advisory, snow for the next several hours. I didn't see this coming.

We are also getting a snow rain mix. We already have a few inches accumulated on our rear deck but the roads are clear so far. We never catch any weather reports on TV anymore because it's mostly the Ukraine situation that is airing most of the day. If that wasn't center stage they would have spent a lot of time blowing up this snow into a "catastrophe is coming" like they usually do.

Shop day today. Waiting for a gw to open. Drove by the am pm that I get gas at sometimes. Usually one of the cheaper places. It was $4.59 π³ Iβll need to fill up before Friday. Guess I have a little time to keep my eyes open for a lower price but probably wonβt find anything cheaper.

Sunny and mid 60s here today. Except I'm stuck inside working on tax returns (biz returns are due next Tuesday). For once, we'll actually have a good number of them ready to file and won't have to extend like in past years. Yep, it definitely helps to finally have enough help. My boss also agreed that we'll be requiring one of the "bookkeepers" to take that basic accounting class after tax season is over. Woo hoo! Back to the salt mines. BBL.

We had snow here too, around 11:00. Huge fluffy and heavy snow and about 3 inches in an hour. But it quickly melted. This is out my front door.

I just need to gripe a little. I mailed my passport out for renewal, I used Priority Mail and was scanned when it was picked up, scanned when it hit Philadelphia, PA and then nothing since 3/3, it was only going to Philadelphia. It is 2.5 hours from me, I could have hand delivered by now. I am a little concerned because it is my actual passport and a check to pay the fee, which exposes one to identity theft if the package has disappeared. Not sure at what point I can get the PO to trace/track. I don't understand why they make you mail the still valid passport back, they should mail you the new one and then ask you to deface the old one and mail it back. It would be safer I would think.
Thanks just need to complain a little to people who understand the frustration with the PO

Maybe it missed being scanned at delivery since I imagine a large amount of mail going to a passport renewal location.

I've renewed passports a number of times and they absolutely have to have the old one to provide evidence that it has been defaced and thus disallowed - there's too much of a chance of it ending up somehow 'recycled' and still in circulation. I can attest as someone who traveled internationally a lot before Covid, they sometimes check those things carefully in customs - sometimes I would get waved through (once in England someone said "You come here a lot!" lol). Other times I would get pulled out and questioned and my passport gone over. Once in Australia I got so hassled I thought they weren't going to let me in!
It took a while for my passport to come by mail, too, though, it's not a very quick process, but I'd look for it in your mailbox in a week or two!

Sunny and 71 here today. Then we're in the 50's for tomorrow and Saturday, mid 60's Sunday and 70's all next week. My guess is this might be our last cold snap of the year? The boys are out on the balcony watching all the traffic and people go by. From their body language, it looks like they might also be trying to figure out where the birds are that they're hearing. I need to bring them inside though, the traffic noise is getting pretty loud. There is some building and road construction going on about a block away and the beep-beep-beep of the trucks backing up is driving me nuts

71 here today too. BFF is on spring break this week so there's been a lot of texting going on during the day and I run out of time to work on my taxes. Today she's on a plane heading to see her son in DC until Sunday so I can actually focus on making some progress... lol. She's on the plane and still texting but just said she was shutting down time to get some working done! I can list and text with no problem but texting and doing taxes... no so much.
