When I used to shop in stores....2 years ago, I would take carts in too, especially Aldi. And I would refuse the quarter that is needed to unlock them. We always "paid it forward".
But the lady was leaving the store and there were tons of carts available. She was super nice.

This guy's brother tells funny jokes:
A RETIREE'S LAST TRIP TO KROGER’S.
Yesterday I was at my local Kroger’s buying a large bag of Purina Dog Chow for my loyal pet, Jake, the Wonder Dog, and was in the check-out line when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog.
What did she think....I had an elephant?
So because I'm retired and have little to do, on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again. I added that I probably shouldn't, because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms.
I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is, to load your pants pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.)
Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the food poisoned me. I told her no, I stopped to pee on a fire hydrant and a car hit me.
I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack he was laughing so hard.

I don't know if any of you have new in box toner cartridges sitting around, not even necessarily current ones. I cleaned out a closet at one of the stores I liquidated and contacted this website, sold 3 boxes of random copier toner and parts to them and received $800 by PayPal, they pay shipping. Yesterday I mailed off 2 additional toner cartridges one for a big Canon copier and one for an HP Laserjet. They paid $35 each and sent label for shipping. www.selltoner.comThere is a place to put a list of what you have under make offer, don't worry if the amounts come up zero that is because you haven't been assigned a rep, just submit with zero amounts and they will come back with an offer. I know this sounds like an advertisement, lol. It's not I was just very happy, being able to clear stuff out of here and make cash, thought someone else might like to try it.

Is anyone else playing Dordle and Quordle? I am so glad that they only have one game a day, or I would be playing the darned things all day long.
And I refuse to check the archived games, for my own good.

Anyone stocking up in case the truckers take action? Please don’t make it political. Just asking if anyone is stocking up their groceries?

Anyone stocking up in case the truckers take action? Please don’t make it political. Just asking if anyone is stocking up their groceries? No need to do so. The US strike isn't off to a very good start www.buzzfeednews.com/article/paulmcleod/washington-trucker-caravan-ottawa-vaccinesThe doctor's office called asking to change my appointment today to earlier, which I can't do, so it's rescheduled to next week. Works for me since I'm really busy today and tomorrow. Plus I don't have to get out in the cold

Anyone stocking up in case the truckers take action? Please don’t make it political. Just asking if anyone is stocking up their groceries? I stock up every year before winter so really all I have to get are perishables and maybe sale/clearance items. I can't stock up on stuff if shelves are empty. Refrigerated dough, especially pizza dough, shelves have been empty for months all over and stopping at Wallyworld (yeah, I was that desperate), there are lots of empty spaces on shelves including crackers I wanted to get a couple boxes. I was also bummed that Ollie's was completely out of my favorite beef jerky. On a positive note, Aldi finally got frozen bags of pink salmon back in stock as well as other frozen seafood. I think I'll head over to IGA while the weather's good and see if they still have any of their brand crackers if those are the next hard to find items.

Woke up to SNOW today- just a smattering but it shocked the heck outta me! It was forecast but when I went to bed it was 20 degrees outside so snow didn't seem likely.
And yes, in general principle I'm keeping more groceries & necessities in the house because politics, pandemic, climate & world situations is volatile and the supply chain so fragile. I never want to be running store to store looking for TP & flour again.

My olive oil delivery was due yesterday but was delayed due to weather somewhere along the line. I think it was on the truck overnight because when it arrived this morning, it was partially frozen. I didn't know olive oil could freeze Stay, if you like beef jerky, check out Mike's. Family owned store in Albuquerque, he makes it all fresh, and it's to die for. They also sell online. I'd buy assorted flavors every December and make client gift baskets with it. www.oldworldjerky.com/

Was at the little WM yesterday. Cracker isle was missing a lot of the more popular cracker varieties but I scored a box of Chicken in a Biscuit crackers and the pasta isle is REALLY missing a lot of stuff. It's cold here so tonight I plan to make pasta fagioli in the instant pot. I have a few opened boxes of ditalini. Need to go measure it out to make sure I have enough because there's a good chance WM won't have any.

Every store I have been in has had a few sparse areas but nothing crazy. I really haven't had trouble getting what we need. But I pretty much shop everywhere. It's funny, but the toilet paper isles are all overloaded!

I normally check WM online to make sure products are in stock (or supposed to be). Just checked and Great Value crackers are nowhere to be found anywhere around the area at this time. Didn't think to check earlier. I did go to IGA and they still had about a dozen boxes of store brand saltines left so got 3 boxes. Got a few markdowns, checked out and went home. I'm thankful it's nowhere as bad as it was almost 2 years ago when the pandemic hit and stores were pretty much wiped out.
Val, I checked the Mike's website and it sounds really good, but too pricey for me. Thanks for the suggestion.

Jesmelric, I hope they'll move her to a good, quiet room soon. Thanks so much you guys To follow up they ended up moving her to the loud/cursing lady's room, BUT apparently the lady was being moved to the hospital yesterday evening and then discharged (to go to another facility I'm assuming) today. So it looks like mom will have a room to herself until they have someone else to move in there. So hopefully she's getting some peace and quiet and when they do move someone in hopefully it will be someone who's at least relatively quiet. We're visiting here at my house Monday for her birthday meal and then she can tell us about (what she does remember) being moved and how it's going.
It's in the 40s and gray today, I made blondies and am making stew for dinner, seems a perfect day to do so.
I have a deep freezer and a big pantry and I like to stock up a bit when things are on sale so we stay pretty decently stocked most of the time. I think my greatest concern is my Charmin Ultra soft lol.

We're supposed to be cold for the next several days. I think I'll make a pot of chili tomorrow. It might be my last chance until late fall, when we cool off again.

I made a big pot of chili last night, so we're having that again tonight and I have enough left over to freeze a few cartons for those "I don't want to cook" nights. We have a medium size upright freezer and DH just bought a little chest freezer for wild game and fish (which was taking over my regular freezer!) Salmon season will start soon and we needed more room to store it. Hopefully he will get a deer or 2 this fall too.
Jesmelric, hopefully your mom will have a bit of quiet for a while. (((hugs)))
The only thing I have NOT been able to find lately is refrigerated biscuits/french bread dough/pizza crust dough. Not sure why there's a shortage of that, but none of the stores in our area have them...just a big emptiness in the refrigerated section where they used to be.

We are getting freezing rain tonight. Hoping I get home before it hits. Drove to work in it but it didn’t last long.
Going to try to hit BJs after it warms up tomorrow.
Going to see my brother and SIL Saturday morning. He is home but having issues.

I wouldn't say I am stocking up per se, but because of rising prices I am more in tune with sales, watching for deals, and buying a bit of a stash. Now if I could just find some boneless chicken breast on sale!
The biscuit/canned dough area of our stores are lean but there are some items available. My dad in VA, on the other hand, cannot find biscuits whatsoever for weeks now. Not a specific brand, there are zero, zilch, nada any canned biscuits at any store. He has also had a terrible time finding canned diced tomatoes.
My grandma and mom have both noted they are still having issues finding specific types of canned cat food. We buy dog food at our locally owned pet food store and I noticed the shelves were looking a little lean last time I was in. I usually buy 5 lb bags at a time bc we mix up the flavor for her (though in the same brand) but I may switch to 30lb bags.
At our store, I notice the frozen food seems to be hit the hardest. I'd estimate my local stores have less than 50% of their usual frozen stock. I was also shocked to pay $3 for a small bag of generic frozen fries yesterday as well.

Food, real yummy food. Don't be jealous of me.
I just had to drink a large bottle of barium crap for my CT scan tomorrow. I didn't feel very well before drinking this chalky crap.... And I have to drink another bottle tomorrow morning.
I have to have a special CT scan tomorrow to see how much cancer is now in my liver. This is so much fun.

Gosh Denise. Thinking of you. I haven’t had a colonoscopy because I can’t stand the thought of drinking the amount of liquid required. I most likely would barf it up.

We keep our freezer full and have been ordering canned chicken and tuna from Costco along with other stuff. Just had paper towels and toilet paper delivered from Home Depot that should last a few months. Wish I had more storage room for bulky stuff like that.
Some years ago we picked up a bucket of emergency/survival dry food from Costco and split it with another couple. It would take an emergency to eat some of the stuff that is included, but it's good to have on hand. Later we picked up a few things that we like to eat and made a 'go' bag. We keep a small supply of bottled water also. The only emergency I can think of happening here would be fires, but you never know. And of course the supply chain, something we didn't take into consideration before covid.

I have had several colonoscopies, and that stuff is nothing like this chalky crap. Some doctors don't require the gallon of stuff and you just need to drink the Cytrate stuff.
So get your butt in to the Dr! LOL

I need to get a colonoscopy sooner rather later too. I'll probably put it off for as long as I possibly can. My issue is I hate bugging people for a ride. BFF's husband recently had one and she said the prep wasn't as bad as it used to be. I need to ask her for more details. That soup was so so good last night. Last time DH was due for a colonoscopy, his doctor sent a Cologuard kit. He was very happy about the non-invasive alternative.
We got lucky and only got a coating of ice plus maybe 2" of snow on top from latest storm. DH said he had to warm up his van for 10 minutes before he was able to scrape ice off and roads were good. I'm thankful power stayed on and I don't have to go anywhere. Getting flurries here and there but nothing serious.

I actually have the CG kit at home but had a polyp many years back. Was supposed to have a colonoscopy after 5 years so I decided to hold off on CG. They kept sending me reminder texts. Had to call and tell them stop.

I am high risk for colon cancer (mom had it and dad’s sister died from it), so I can’t do Cologuard. Had a clear one in 2011, then another in 2019. As I was coming out of it, the dr said I had 5 polyps and needed to come back for another one in 6 months. I wanted to cry at the thought of going through the prep work again so soon! Covid delayed it by an extra 6 months; that one came back clear. My next will be 2023. I don’t mind drinking the jug of liquid so much, it’s the running to the bathroom and the sore bum. (Use baby wipes and Vaseline—it helps a lot.)
DH did the Cologuard and due to the inconclusive result, he had to go in and have the regular scope anyway. It came back clear.

Just do what I did last time, hold your nose and chug it down - it was easier chilled. In fact, that was the least of my concerns - it was the day of fasting before the procedure that was so hard. I couldn't make it even though I had made jello, had fluid replacement, broth, etc. I ended up eating a white roll before I went to bed - didn't make any difference, the procedure went fine. I'm not sure the DH made it, either, when he had one.

Soooo much easier than asking for a ride. I did something similar in ABQ for an outpatient procedure I had to have - took the bus there, Uber back home.
