I got an email from Stacey. She must have recieved some vibes from me since I have been joking about the names she gave her fosters.
Wanted to let you know Barney is getting a new sibling - we are adopting my late aunts dog, Ozzy. In preparation for his arrival, we did a dog-trial (dog sitting for friends) AND we built a cat wall (aka no-dog-zone). We are pretty sure Barney has previous positive experience with dogs as he was the only one of our three cats who was totally unfazed by their presence.
Since the cat wall is a hit we may do another one! Barney has become a lap cat here in CO and we talk about how amazing he is on a daily basis. We’re loving the cold here and that snuggle season for the cats is year round. Barney is still obsessed with his dad and sleeps between us at night, usually with his head on Jaime’s pillow.
When I look at all the Barney pics, I flashback to when Angie brought him over to the cat pen and we just looked at him and then at each other like what have we got here and we didn't even know he was deaf then.
I think Barney is one of our most memorable success stories.
I think Stacey must have been getting vibes from me, too, because I was just about to ask kritter if Stacey has sent recent pics of our beloved Barney. I hope she knows he still has a fan club that loves him.
Val, I was thinking the same thing if Barney and Ozzy are around the same size.
I think Barney also has an advantage he saw all those dogs in the SNIPSA race. If those didn't phase him, Ozzy sure won't.
Please tell Stacey thanks for all the pics and short video. I was going through Barney withdrawal. He's still as handsome as ever. And I still get people saying how much they love my Barney mask.
I forgot to mention the second pic looks like Funnel Cake has caught up to Barney in size (minus the head), unless it's the camera angle. Poor Charlie is nowhere to be found.
We got these off Amazon - 1 wave, 1 curved and 1 L shaped. The L shaped is basically just two steps but they are not as wide as the steps that come with the larger perches.
We were limited to where the studs were, and we decided the heights based on the tallest height all of our cats could easily jump (used our ottoman for reference). We wanted them all to feel comfortable getting up and down so no one had FOMO! We did lots of research before landing on these - they are sturdy when attached to studs and seem good for large cats, too.
We’re installing a cat door in lower right corner of wall - we have a litter box on the other side of the wall that we can access from the other room.
Poor Charlie. I bet once Barney lets Ozzy know he runs the show, Charlie won't need meds to chill out. Maybe he and Ozzy will wind up best buds like Barney and Funnel Cake, without the licking part.
