Another month here and gone. Which means a couple more winter months to go til spring, so something to look forward to and can't come fast enough with how cold and snowy this one has been. I feel sorry for those who got slammed with the last storm and looks like we're getting one later this week. To those who don't have to deal with it, consider yourselves lucky indeed.

Yes, I'm so glad we don't have to deal with snow storms like that, how awful! I feel bad for everyone who had to deal with that. As much as I hate our long, hot, humid summers it's better than snow storms. We are rainy, rainy today and in the 60s. I got Janey out for her walk this morning and made it to the post office so I am content to be home.
I spent a lot of the weekend sorting clothes to start turning the seasons on my listings. Sometimes I get sick of having so much inventory in my house, I think of all the space I could have without it. In a small house it's pretty significant. But I know there are those who do it in smaller spaces so I guess I shouldn't complain.
It's hard to believe tomorrow is February already. One year since I got Covid. For Valentine's day I asked DH to replace the tub valve in the bathroom It's really interfering with my soaks, it's a hassle when it is so difficult to use.

The big shortage around here for at least the last few weeks has been refrigerated pizza dough as well as store brand crescent/biscuit dough. Even the much pricier Pillsbury tubes are sparse. I went to 3 stores today and got lucky at the third they finally had some store brand biscuit dough so grabbed a few tubes of that.

I'd love to live somewhere with snow and decent public transit, since I now work from home. No need to shovel out the car every day

Today is the big day. Getting my new crowns cemented in. A little nervous. I've been to the dental lab twice, my friend has gone with me both times and will meet me there today to see how they look. They might do temp cement if I'm unsure about anything. Hoping they're perfect and I won't have to go back until I need a cleaning. It's all gone pretty smoothly. Several months ago I would have never had expected this, just had to pick up the phone and start the process. Relieved that it's done or almost done

Been a bit busy. Work has been crazy.
My brother went by ambulance to the hospital yesterday so I have been in contact with my SIL on and off. He’s in a great deal of pain. Pancreatitis and sepsis. His wife’s birthday was Tuesday and his is Today. They did a liver scan earlier on Tuesday so SIL hopes to have results today.
Went to Apple Store Tuesday while cleaners were at the house. Got hubby and I new IPads. Ours are 4 years old. And I got a education discount - 5% or so. Going to try to get mine set up in the morning but I have a work zoom meeting I may attend so it may have to wait.

I'm very happy was expecting to be numb and uncomfortable last night but neither happened. They didn't do the push the string under the gum line thing that was always done in the past with crown applications. Interior and exterior of all the crowns are porceline so I don't need to worry about any metal showing down the road as gums recede with age and such. They just applied the cement and gently popped them on. They fitted me for a night guard that will double as a retainer (still wear a retainer even after all these years). Go back in two weeks. They have been paid in full but I feel like it's not enough, they were all so skilled and kind. Feel like I should bring them donuts or bagels or something?

I take cookies/cupcakes to my vet's office every holiday because I want to be on their good side. They are always booked up but if I need an emergency appointment which is more often than not around here, they work me in.
When I worked at the animal shelter years ago, I had regulars needing cat admissions or spay/neuters bring us pizza, cookies, donuts and they always got the appointments that they needed.
When in doubt, bribery is always an option.

At my next appt maybe I'll show up with a Nothing Bundt cake or something... trying to think of something a little different. Actually my next appt is on Valentine's Day, that makes it easier.

My next vet appointment with Terrell is also on Valentine's Day. We are having a bake sale for the foster program at the pet store next door to the vet office on the weekend prior to Monday, 2/14 so I will have a great selection of homemade baked goods to take to the appointment.

Back when we were all physically in the office, clients who brought us goodies (lunch, donuts, breakfast burritos etc) always got the appointment time they wanted or the rush job they needed

It's nice to show appreciation to those who provide great service and or go above and beyond. I think all the dental office wants is a nice online review... which I will give them Speaking of good service, I talked to the custodian at the post office this morning. Hadn't seen her for a few days. I learned she's 60... I thought she was my age or even a little younger. I was shocked.

It's been raining all day and will change over to freezing rain which will leave a layer of ice under the changeover to an all snow til Friday morning. Latest prediction is 9-12" of snow. Unknown if it will be the heavier kind that's harder to shovel vs. the light fluffy stuff that's a lot easier except if it's windy, new snow replaces what you just shoveled unless you get lucky and it blows it covering someone else's vehicle. I'm already trying to talk DH into staying home tomorrow, but if he insists, I'll get up early and help him shovel out the van.
I hope Buckeye Chuck is right and we'll have an early spring. Punxsutawney Phil predicts 6 more weeks of winter. I'm betting on Chuck.

Those are nice! I need to send that to my cousin who, since she started working from her home office, started exclusively wearing Birks. I think she has about 6 pair.
Got out for a run for the first time since Dickens the Westie dumped me on the trail. It was really nice to get out! My running friend and I did a slow 5k (that's about it for me right now) - as we told each other, it may have been cold and dark, but at least it was drizzling!

Birkenstock has been selling their discontinued (I think) styles on swap.com. I bought two pair because they said "narrow" but narrow really means medium width (B) and regular width means wide (D). I kept one of the pair and put the other pair on ebay and paid for the pair I kept. I only paid about $25 each for mine, but last I looked (to maybe buy for resale), they were going for a bit more--$35-$45, I think. Still a good deal if you are buying them for yourself. I may still sell the ones I kept as medium width sandals look funny on narrow feet. Sandals are very hard to come by in a narrow width. I also saw Dillards has on-line shoes and boots on clearance for 65% off. That's their clearance center starting price, but these days it's the best you get, at least at my clearance center, until they go to a flat $19.99 or $9.99. Used to be they would do an additional 30-50% off regularly, but they are not doing any additional off these days. Thanks, Covid. Just looked and the prices went up again. Mostly men's left now. It looks like it could be returns. If you're in the market for Birks, it's worth a look.

Any updates on PFRE? The ones I ordered last month never arrived. I'm getting low so I asked the po custodian if there were any in the back this morning and she brought out a box that was about half full. I don't use them on a super regular bases so this should get me by for at least a few months.

I miss Dillard's outlet, they closed the one that was close about a year ago or more. There's still two way on the other side of town. I should carve out some time and stop in when I'm out that way. We're having a cold snap right now, I actually have the heat going. That doesn't happen very often. My aunt has been sending pic's from their little town in Illinois, lots of snow with a high today of 14. Brrrr. We going to Vegas this weekend and they're having a cold snap too. The temp was 35 there earlier this morning. Looks like it'll be in the mid 60's while were there. It's only getting up to 56 there today though.

Currently 25 and changeover from rain all day yesterday until around 8pm was quick with a coating of ice before turning into all snow. DH didn't have to be at work until 10:30am but he left just after 9am. There was only a few inches of snow and roads weren't bad. We probably have around 6" so far. One forecast says snow until around 7am Friday, another says clearing out around 11:30pm tonight, which I like better. Still expecting 8-12" of snow today. It looks like the lighter stuff and wind is blowing it around, but coming down so road crews should be able to keep up with the roads. I'll bundle up later and clear out around my Cube so less to do tomorrow if I choose to go anywhere. Just hope the power stays on.

Hi guys, hope everyone is coping with the cold ok. It was raining this morning, now it's 39 and windy and cold. I am making DH some gumbo for dinner and I baked some cookies earlier, it's the perfect day for it.
Well we went to see mom yesterday and Clothing Mystery Solved! We were talking to the lady who brought mom out about her missing stuff, and she went inside and took pictures to show to us of what mom had. And there was a picture of the inside of mom's closet and mom said "Oh I don't keep anything in my closet, my roommate has way more clothes so I let her use it." So the lady asked if I wanted to come inside and look through mom's closet. So weird, the first time they let us in her room. So there's three closets behind the door, and they correspond to the beds; A, B, and C. Mom's is A. So we open it up and it's CRAMMED! And I'm looking through it and some is mom's but a lot is not. Like 1/3 is mom's 2/3 isn't. Mom is in room 113 so she's 113A. Well someone had crammed in a bunch of clothes from 111A. So when we got those out there was most of mom's stuff. She's still missing a few things but the bulk was in the dang closet. It never even occurred to mom to even look, and if she had she wouldn't have recognized anything because hers was crammed way to the back. So it's a good thing we finally got to go in there.
And mom was saying she had a really bad week because there's this guy who keeps thinking mom and her roommate's room is his and he's constantly going in there and using the bathroom and they can't get in when they need to, plus there's a lady that sings (and apparently badly) all night long. So my sister talked to the administrator and they said mom has improved enough to move to the non-lock down side where she won't have to deal with people who are so confused and difficult to be around. So they have a room coming soon and they said hopefully she can be moved within a couple of weeks. So that is definitely good news and hopefully will make her life easier.
