We've got snow in the city, much earlier than expected. Can't complain. somany Your sister sounds like she may be clinically depressed. She is on medication, but I agree, it may need to be adjusted. I removed my post since I just realized it's in the public area.

As we say here, there is no such thing as bad weather, just bad clothes. I worked outdoors for a long time, though.

It's currently 11 degrees and sunny. Only going up to around 15 today and that's not counting windchill. DH went over MIL's last night and spread around 50 lbs. of salt in her driveway that he did didn't even make a dent (it's a long driveway). So looking forward to a few days of warmer temps (for us) to hopefully catch up on the laundry. I was reading about SC weather because it looked like a little snow around Myrtle Beach and learned a new term for when you're expecting a certain amount of snow but may get more- "overachieve". It’s important to note that there will be a few areas that “overachieve” on the snowfall totals.
I guess we've already "overachieved" our totals the last 3 snowfalls here.

Ok, got a bed sheet question. I've always just bought sheet sets whatever was on sale or at Walmart. But they really don't last and start wearing out fairly quickly. I want to splurge on a decent set of sheets. What should I look for? I need the extra deep fitted ones. Thanks!! Check out the The Big One brand at Kohls, 275 thread count. They aren't 700 count Egyptian cotton sheets, but they aren't cheap crap either. Moderate price, nice quality IMO. They fit up to 17" mattress. I tend to sleep hot, and these sleep average to cool IMO. I really like mine. You have to check regularly at Kohls though for a good price. If you like prints, check out the kids Big One sets too, they have some cute prints that don't necessarily look like kids. I second these sheets. These are my favorite and I've bought them pretty much since I moved out on my own. I like the crisp white.

After reviewing the snowblower startup instructions, I went out and did snow duty. It is still snowing lightly but I think the wind is supposed to be worse later. Not sure. I wanted to get a jump on it in case the wind cranks up. May have to do a quick shovel or sweep later.
Time to relax.

I always felt it was better to keep at it in increments vs. waiting until there was a lot more piled up when I used to have to shovel the driveway when I lived at home.

When I lived in Dallas, I worked with a guy who used to live in St. Paul MN. He said when a big storm came in, his dad would get up every 3 hrs or so at night and shovel out the driveway, so he could get the car out in the morning without spending hours trying to dig it out. That's too much snow for me.

Well, we got 6 inches of snow and it's 18 degrees, going down to 12 tonight. Still getting a few flakes. It feels very comfortable to me, inside with no heat on. Yes, I know that probably sounds weird. Check back with me in the summer when I will be bitching and moaning. Of course, being an apartment dweller, I don't personally have to shovel the snow. So it's all good.

That's like here before we got our flood mitigation installed - going out every several hours to clear out the clogged and overflowing storm drains so the road didn't flood (and flood our basement).

Or perhaps they're not really disappearing at all. I find that as my parents are getting older & more confused, my sister & I are constantly discussing if things really happened at all, if they happened how the parents are perceiving it, if they completely misheard what the dr actually said b/c of hearing loss, if they misinterpreted what the dr said, etc. etc. etc. I have actually witness my mom understand the complete opposite of what the dr said due to simple hearing loss. When you add confusion to the mix, anything goes. At least you are there to witness it. We are trying to figure out these things with 3 different states involved. You know I think you might be right on this. We haven't seen mom's room because of Covid but she has told us she has this nightstand type of thing with two drawers and that's where she keeps all her clothes. She said there's a closet but she doesn't have enough clothes to bother with it. Maybe when she was in isolation someone hung her clothes in the closet and she didn't even think to look? Or she herself did something like that and then forgot? It's so hard to say. That's why I suggested to my sister she call and see if someone can go look and see why she only has 1 pair of pants left. My sister has the POA and is handling things and to avoid conflict with her I try not to nag, remind, etc. Next time we chat on the phone I'll casually say something like Were you able to get ahold of anyone at the nursing home to see if they could look for mom's clothes? And then we'll see.
Also, if medication is involved, that can really exacerbate things & they can hallucinate or otherwise believe that things have happened, which haven't. Also personality issues can come into play. One of my parents has ALWAYS been a huge exaggerator, which now wreaks havoc when trying to determine from a distance what is real & what isn't. He's the 'boy who cried wolf' so many times that it's hard to believe anything & once he almost died b/c it was true that time. So, I guess 'missing' clothes, while annoying is really not that bad :-)

Love my new little air fryer! I didn't use it until today since I didn't know that I needed to use Canola oil in it. I only had olive oil. I made French fries in it, of course.
Still bitterly cold, but it was sunny today. Supposed to go up to 40 !! on Tues and Wed.

We are expecting some wintry weather next week right around the one year anniversary of the epic winter blast last year.
One of the local stations had this comment on their weather page which is like a preview of coming atttractions.......
"And while there could be a light wintry mix of sleet and freezing rain Thursday morning, this will NOT be as extreme as last year's winter storm -- so no need to panic-buy at HEB"

I feel bad for those affected by the latest nor'easter. I can't imagine getting 30" like in MA. I hope power stayed on for everyone.
We had a little snow this morning. Temps are supposed to go up the next few days so I'll head out for perishables and hopefully be able to do laundry at MIL's. It's supposed to rain Wed. which will coat everything in ice and then a possibly heavy snow Thursday (unknown of storm tract at this time).

I also use sesame, pecan, walnut and avocado oil in it. You just have to watch the temp you cook at if you're using one of the oils that doesn't do well in high heat.

Wow. Rug prices on Amazon are insane. Apparently Amazon rug sellers don't scope out the competition or they'd know there is a lot of it and the competition prices are much better. Even with free shipping.

What is the max temp for olive oil? I made yellow squash in it today and it was yummy. This will be used daily.

Thanks Bliss!
I read about not using the aerosols, so I just toss the veggies in a little canola oil. I do have a mister like what you posted, so I can use that.

Switch to flavored olive oils. OMG sooooooo good. You can buy them all over the place but I usually get Mantova, they have a bunch of flavors and all are good. You can get it on Amazon, but sometimes it's cheaper to buy directly from mantovafood.com. You can pick up random flavors in the grocery store sometimes too, but it will be the basic - garlic infused, sometimes basil infused, and that's usually about it.
I like lemon olive oil for roasted asparagus, and I roast mushrooms, green & red bell pepper, yellow squash, onion and zuchinni in either Grillata, Pizza & Pizza, or Tuscan depending on my mood.

And for those of you who like spicy - check out Benissimo Spicy Sriracha Oil. Most Walmarts carry it. Another good one is House of Tsang Oil - Mongolian Fire. Some grocery stores carry it. A little goes a long way with both of them
