I did like Olivia, but was disappointed when she had a recurrence of her breast cancer in her spine. She refused to call it Stage 4 metastatic BC. Instead of getting chemo for it, she announced that she would just smoke weed. Unfortunately, a lot of ladies on my BC forums decided to take her advice. Not a good thing.
True that everyone makes their own choices but a lot of ladies looked up to her.

Do you have a source for this? In an interview dated 2020, a direct quote states "one thing that she says has been a big help - alongside surgery, chemo, and radiotherapy - medical cannabis". This was a direct quote from a Guardian interview. She used cannabis to wean herself off of morphine for the pain and not in lieu of more traditional treatment options. I understand you have a unique perspective on cancer given your history, everyone needs to make their own choices. Even if she was only using cannabis, which I don't believe she was, but for the sake of this argument we will assume this is true. The choice to treat the symptoms with cannabis and maximize the time she had left is a completely valid and acceptable choice, and a deeply personal one. She owes it to no one, regardless of how many people may look up to her, to treat her illness in any way other than the one she believes is best. I apologize if my response seems harsh but you don't get to be disappointed in how others manage their own illness. Not to mention this woman devoted a lot of resources to cancer research and helped fund an entire hospital in Australia.

I do appreciate her contributions. She had chemo with her first early-stage diagnosis. She had a mastectomy, chemo and radiation 30 years ago.
When she had the recurrence to her spine in 2017 she chose alternative treatments and weed, instead of chemo. My BC friends and I have followed this closely and it is upsetting to me that her life would have been extended by several more years had she chosen the bone strenghteners (Xgeva or Zometa) and chemo. I know tons of ladies with bone mets and unlike spread to a vital organ, bone mets are not terminal. With treatment, the cancer can be eradicated from the bones entirely.
My best friend had spine mets for over 20 years.
I just equate Olivia's choice to one who has a heart attack but chooses not to go to a hospital for help. She was so gifted and it hurts to see someone not get the help to extend her life.

I am not trying to start an argument buy many different sources suggest what you are saying it simply untrue. As I noted above, the article with a 2020 interview speaks to the treatment she was using at the time. Another article, quoting a 2019 60 Minutes Australia interview, also states she is using a combination of conventional and alternative remedies. Another article also noted she was using cannabis to deal with the effects of her cancer treatment, not the treatment itself. I do not see one source that says she was using only alternative therapy.
She was in pain. Just because something CAN prolong your life doesn't mean its the appropriate choice for everyone. Any option available to her would have side effects and she chose, presumably, what was best for her situation.

I can't find any article that states what conventional treatment she used and would love to find one. All of my Facebook BC groups are discussing her. No one has stated what chemo she used. Most alternative supplements negate the efficacy of chemos.
So I just watched the Australian 60 minute interview where she talks about the Holistic approach. Nothing as far as conventional chemo. Will keep looking.

I totally agree with this and would never judge anybody or be upset because they chose a path that may not be the best in other people's opinion but is the best for them. A life being extended a few more years may not have been the light at the end of the tunnel for her if those years are filled with pain and effects of chemo treatments.
I can understand where quality of life over quanity of life may have been her choice. Alternative treatments were a choice she made to try and curb the pain in whatever manner she could for the days that she had left to live. I haven't walked in her shoes but I can relate to that choice just from hearing about the effects of chemo treatment on a body. She walked the walk once with the chemo treatments so she knew what was ahead and made a personal decision not to take that road again.
As far as other ladies taking her advice, they most likely should have consulted their doctor instead of following what a celebrity chose to do. I respect a lot of people but would never take life threatening medical advice from them.

www.nbcnews.com/news/obituaries/olivia-newton-john-battled-breast-cancer-30-years-rcna42113Her decadeslong fight included a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction, Newton-John said. By 2020, she was facing stage 4 metastatic breast cancer, her third bout with the disease since 1992.www.abc.net.au/news/2022-08-09/olivia-newton-john-journey-with-cancer-and-legacy-in-melbourne/101315898Newton-John was first diagnosed with breast cancer in 1992, in the same week her father died of cancer. She underwent a partial mastectomy, chemotherapy and breast reconstruction, before entering remission.www.businessinsider.in/science/health/news/olivia-newton-john-has-died-of-breast-cancer-after-it-came-back-for-a-third-time-heres-what-to-know-about-her-diagnosis-/articleshow/93440499.cmsIn May 2017, Newton-John revealed that her breast cancer had spread once more, resulting in a tumor in her lower back. After her 2017 diagnosis, Newton-John said she had undergone radiation, adopted a healthier diet, and used "cannabis oil" as part of ongoing treatment for the tumor. She clearly had traditional cancer treatment. But she also realized something was missing, and I agree with her mission: The singer founded the Olivia Newton-John Foundation to fund research into cancer therapies, and the Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness and Research Centre (ONJ Centre) in Melbourne, to support people on their journey with cancer.
The ONJ Centre provides medical research, cancer treatments treatments, and wellness care.(Facebook: Olivia Newton-John Cancer Wellness & Research Centre) Part of Newton-John's vision was to create a holistic approach to treating cancer that looked after the whole patient — mind, body and spirit, said Adam Horsburgh, the chief executive of the ONJ Centre.
The centre provides a range of wellness services including yoga, massage, nutrition, as well as music and art therapies, to support people going through cancer treatments.
Sounds to me like her mission wasn't to replace chemo, but to find ways to help patients cope with the stress of cancer, and to compliment other available treatments. As for not choosing to do traditional chemo for her last diagnosis, if that's what she did, I don't blame her. She'd already been through multiple bouts and the cancer kept coming back. She may have decided the fight wasn't worth it. I had a very good friend who was diagnosed with lung cancer. She declined chemo. We all had to respect her choice, even though it meant losing her a few months early.

Honestly, DH and I have discussed and agree if either of us were diagnosed with cancer and weren’t given a good chance of survival with chemo and were only prolonging the inevitable, we would not put ourselves or each other through it. Of course, this is theoretical and we might feel differently if it were to happen, but I can totally understand someone choosing not to go that route. It is an extremely personal decision and I believe it is not my right to question her motives had she gone either way. May she rest in peace.

ew.com/tv/ron-masak-murder-she-wrote-sheriff-dead/Ron Masak died about a week after Angela Lansbury. He was in a lot of shows but you would probably most likely recognize him as the sheriff in Murder, She Wrote. The 3 main characters from that show are now dead
