Good morning one and all. Our first taste of winter has almost completely melted off and temps will head back up until the weekend. The rollercoaster weather lives on. Hope everybody has a loveydovey nosnowabovey day.

No snow (we don't get much of it, anyway), just drizzle. It's really dark out, though - like the sun never came up, but fortunately the wind finally died down and we still have power.
Good day to do stuff inside, except I have to go to the post office and then the store to get some baby food for our poor old cat, who is fading away. She still wombles around a bit, can get up and down the steps to her cat box, but I'm having to sometimes hand feed her to get her to eat - bits of chicken (she loves teriyaki and kalbi) and the like. We're hoping she'll take some baby food as well as we have no other way to get her medication into her.

I think the sales these past 2 weeks are better than what I'm going to see on Black Friday. My guess is retailers are trying to entice folks to buy early so the items will arrive by Christmas. I just scored a coat I've been watching for weeks, regular retail $94, on "pre-Black Friday" sale today, add in a coupon from Retail Me Not and it ended up being $23.99. I couldn't order it fast enough

I went to BJs and Costco twice this morning. Big shopping after hubby’s bonus pay. Got to Costco thinking they opened at 9 for us old folks. Nope.
So I went to BJs and ran out of cart space. Took that load home. Went to Costco and then back to BJs and back home.
Shouldn’t need much except odds and ends until his next bonus in 3 months.
Got home and hubby says we need frozen peppers and onions”. Ugh….

I made chicken soup for my cousin who got covid and has been sick for the last two weeks. She told me she was hungry, poor thing she can't taste or smell though.

I've been up since 5 AM this morning - on our way in an hour to HSS, just under a 2-hour drive. DH is having his failed shoulder replacement hardware taken out and a new one put in - a revision. They will do a "reverse" shoulder replacement as they call it. He really hasn't talked much about the original doctor who did the original shoulder replacement back in 2018, but this morning he let loose on him. Must be his nerves kicking in.
The PCR COVID-19 test report is still not back, I was on the phone with the lab co-ordination place yesterday, no one seems to know anything. The woman on the phone said they just take care of sending the reports out, have nothing to do with the actual testing work. The report was supposed to come through email so I could print it out and bring the results with us. I called the hospital and they said to just come in, they will do a quick "rapid" test as long as he is fully vaccinated and has no symptoms.
Trying to decide as I sit here on what to wear. It's freezing out, our temps went way down last night. Don't want to wear my winter coat as the temps will gradually go up this afternoon, but will throw it in the car for any emergency breakdown. Exhausted already and dreading the rest of the day!

I dropped off one of my Labs at the vet today. Getting a growth taken off his eyelid. Not the usual type of growth. Also getting a dental while he is under.
And one of my other Labs was “off” yesterday. Thinking he got body slammed by the youngest PITA dog. He seems better today. Not 100% though.
As far as temps go…. Went out walking wearing jersey sweat pants a Champion heavier fleece jacket, hat and gloves. Regretted it. Took off the hat and gloves and wished I wore a lighter jacket. I hate this time of year as far as walking/dressing goes.

I hope all the pups are okay and start behaving themselves Labby. Swiftly hit 3 thrift stores this morning and only brought home one thing to resell. The other was an artsy serving bowl. It looks to be handmade so hopefully it's food safe. We only have cereal bowls so I always make do with those or the instant pot liner but decided it would be nice to have a few bigger bowls to use for spaghetti and such. Nice score for $3.49 Made Thanksgiving reservations at restaurant we like inside a casino but our good friends surprised us with an invite to their house. He recently had carotid artery surgery but he's feeling well enough to do it. I'll gladly cancel those reservations

I made chicken soup for my cousin who got covid and has been sick for the last two weeks. She told me she was hungry, poor thing she can't taste or small though. That is nice of you, I hope your cousin is doing better. And I sure hope she gets her taste and smell back properly and doesn't end up with the post covid parosomia like me. 9 months later and still dealing with this carp
We had a nice visit with mom Saturday and she enjoyed the warm banana bread I brought her and the thermos of tea my sister brought her. My sister is bringing her here for Thanksgiving next week, so we won't be making the weekly visit to the nursing home. I think my sister is going to pick her up for a visit at her apartment on Saturday.
DH and I went out for a bit of Christmas shopping on Sunday. The stores we went to (a new shopping strip) were more crowded than I would have expected for early on a Sunday (I guess we all had the same idea to shop early lol), but surprisingly I would say more than 1/2 of people were wearing masks. We enjoyed the Mexican food and margaritas we picked up afterwards, and enjoyed our nap as well
It's hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week. In the 80s here today and tomorrow.
Labby I hope the pups are doing well.

Desire, sending prayers for your husband for a quick recovery and may it finally be done correctly. Sorry he had to go through it twice. Jesmelric, can I ask what are you still going through? Can you taste and smell? I am so sorry you got covid and are still having problems. Labby, hope your little furry ones are OK.

Can you taste and smell? I am so sorry you got covid and are still having problems. Labby, hope your little furry ones are OK. It's called post covid parasomia. They believe about 10% of people get it after losing taste and smell with covid. They come back but its distorted. In the Facebook support group I'm in others have it much worse than I do. Foods taste rancid or disgusting and there's hardly any foods they can eat. Its just certain smells and foods for me but my worse symptom is a constant taste in my mouth that ranges from salty to chemical to metallic. Its been 9 months now. Its improved some but I'm really tired of it.

Sorry to hear about poor Leafy Butt, the labs, sick cousin, desire's DH having to go through surgery again, jesmelric's taste and smell still "off" and anybody else I missed.
It only made it up to about 47 today, but sun was bright and made it feel warmer. Hoodie over tee was perfect. Accomplished most of my errands today. Tomorrow's going up to 65 before plunging back in the 40s so good day to finish errands and maybe stop at a thrift to poke around.
I think it's hard to believe Thanksgiving is next week because I've been getting emails since beginning of the month advertising Black Friday sales. I know there's a backlog at the docks, but gee whiz that's way too early for me.

Halligan is home and resting. They took quite a few teeth, took off 5 growths and cleaned his teeth. Just under $1000. Deductible is $500 and I have to see what they reimburse me. Going to file tonight so I can have any reimbursement by the time my next one goes.
May get dentals on my other Labs if insurance covers the cost. This will be a test.

(((Leafy Butt))) I just love that fluffy kitty!
Jes-some of our chemos make foods taste metallic and it really helps to eat with plastic ware, instead of metal utensils. Maybe that will help.
(((Labby's pups))) Wish that you could get discounts!
(((Desire's DH))) Good luck to him!

BRRRRRR What happened to summer? My 3 lil feral kits cuddling in one of the cozy beds that val2525 brought us. And the fosters, Terrell and Chanel, who came in May and are STILL here.

so does bringing three little anti social kittens a nice, soft cozy bed score one any brownie points?

Maybe it means less chance of biting the hand that feeds them.
LOl, what's your definition of "brrrrr", kritter? 60 degrees? It's currently 45 and sun is getting lower to drop out of sight within the next half hour. We had rain this morning, dried out and will be getting 1-2" of snow overnight into tomorrow morning in our area and 4-6+ in the snowbelt.
How's Terrell doing? He's looking good. Surprised Chanel is still there. Beautiful Siamese.

Absolutely none at all. Not any. Nada.
Their mother taught them well. I think if we had grabbed them 2 weeks earlier, we could have changed their tune. Once they hit 8 weeks living with a feral mom, they are hard to turn but we have to try.
These 3 are pretty good with me as far as playing when I am in the room and even climbing my leg when I have long pants on. But everything is on their terms...no petting, not lap sitting, no picking up without trickery. Even if they got better with me, it would most likely not hold in an adoptive home.
We found that out with Murphy who came into foster at 9 weeks. He is fine with me but has failed in two adoptive homes. I have no more room for any more Murphys.

staytuned It has hovered around 60 all day but mostly cloudy and a bit of a wind factor which kept me home.
Terrell is in the 9th week of a 3 antibiotic a day treatment plan for a ferocious multiple bacterial infection. We first tried 2 antibiotic injections a week apart that didn't work. Then we did 6 weeks on the 3 antibiotic treatment plan and thought we had it beat. Ten days later it was back so started the antibiotic treatment for another 8 weeks. Thank goodness he is a good natured cat but I do admit to resorting to trickery to get the job done most days.
Chanel has not been put up for adoption yet. She is a very timid cat. Not sure what happened to her in her past but she is frightened. She can accept affection but it is when she chooses or I am able to sneak up on her. The last thing I want is for her to get adopted just because she is beautiful but then not be socialized.
I figure these cats were sent to me to fix so I am giving it my best shot.

I have that conversation at least once a day with them as they pile up behind the toilet like they think I am going to snatch their head off.
Apparently they do not believe me.

If anybody can turn the kits/cats around, it's you, kritter. I didn't realize Chanel had a problem. It must have been traumatic for her to not realize she no longer has to be frightened. I think Terrell is adorable with that face and missing the top of one ear.

Just north of us in B.C. they had a month of rain in about a day - that's a month of November rain (we've had 11 inches in November before in the area) - they were hit full by the 'pineapple express'. Farmers are losing their livestock to floods and this is a little coverage of the rescue efforts that everyone came together to try to rescue as many as they can.

I need to borrow them for a bit. I always have a hard time reaching behind my toilet to clean that area.

If they weren't so wicked scared I could tie little sponges on their feet and hire them out to clean that area and maybe make enough to pay for their spay/neuters.

Very sorry Chap. A friend of mine just shared photos of Vancouver area.
Insurance reimbursement for Halligan’s surgery has already processed. $500 deductible and they are sending $400 so we are out $600. Of course his policy renews in February so I don’t think we will use it again this year. He is doing well.
