I finally started back to selling clothes. A little slow, but in the past the holidays were always slow for me. How do you guys do around the holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas)?

I am reading on Facebook that people are not happy with the clothing selections in the stores so hopefully everyone will do better this year.

Welcome back! I hope you do very well. I'm selling less and less clothing so I don't think my experience there this holiday would be too relevant.

I was shopping for clothes Labby and I was saying the same thing. I am not happy with what the stores are selling. Thank you Frankinfashion, curious what are you now selling?

Retail stores have limited options because of the pandemic caused shortages and the delivery backups caused by the ports being unable to unload the cargo containers.
I saw a lot of online retailers this past week with delivery dates on the various items, ranging from "ships by Nov 24" to "ships week of March 21, 2022", and most of the later shipping items are clothing. And this was current season stuff, that won't really be wearable by March.
I need to get off my butt and get my fall/winter stuff listed since a good bit is NWT and not available in the stores or online (or at least not available online for immediate shipment).

I almost never shop for clothes so this is good to know (I either get them when I'm thrifting or just order up 5 pair of whatever of the same old thing I always wear). I've been hustling fall/winter items and I'll just keep going.

The lack of avl clothing has been all over the news in recent weeks (along with the s'posed shortage of Xmas cards, ornaments, etc). I can say that I have not seen any significant increase in sales, just the usual. I was excited to list some nice Leanin Tree Xmas cards b/c of the s'posed shortage. Then I looked at completeds & there's no apparent shortage on Ebay. I don't have too much tree trimmings or ornaments, but I have decor like mugs, plates, etc. that I got 75% off last year after Xmas. I've just got a few up in the last few days & although they have a watcher or 2, it's certainly not immediate sale situation.
Of course it all depends on what you sell & what prices.

I wish/hope ebay would take/is taking advantage of the delivery backups and advertise that ebay sellers have the items in stock and can ship within their handling time. I don't watch TV so maybe they are doing it and I'm just not aware of it, but since it's ebay I have my doubts.
I think dressy holiday type items sell at this time of year--I just sold two Alex Evenings tops this week-end, and I've had interest in a couple of other things that would work for a holiday special occasion. I also think NWT that is not terribly expensive will sell. If someone is looking for an inexpensive gift for their brother-in-law and they can pick up a shirt for under $20, they will do it.
Speaking of holiday, I've listed quite a bit of holiday counted cross stitch kits in the last couple of weeks, and they have sold pretty well. I was surprised because I did not necessarily price mine at the lowest price out there and in most cases, there were several kits available. I thought I was late for the season and they would sit until next year when crafters would be searching for their next project, but I'm happy they sold!

Sales for clothing are ok for me this time of year but I think it's people shopping for themselves. Just because they are shopping for holiday gifts. I'm sure some are gifts but not the majority. But who knows.
I was at Boscovs getting some stuff for my husband and they were loaded with everything! I couldn't believe how much they actually had. An entire section just with mens athletic pants.
On the flip side I couldn't get stuff at Macys in the store but they had it online.
Good luck and I hope you sell lots!

Sales should be decent to good for plus size for November & December, both those shopping for gifts and for themselves, because there isn't that much to choose from. What is out there is duplicated by several retailers just under different store labels, or has a delayed shipping warning. I need to find my camera this week so I can take pics this weekend. It's still packed somewhere from the move

I think that too & that's not the type of stuff I carry, so I just don't think it's going to affect me one way or another. I don't think it's late in the season though, I think ppl are just starting to look for holiday outfits & decor. I have several Alex Evenings to photograph today, though 1 has a flaw & has to go to the seamstress. I usually list Xmas clothes pretty much up until the Holiday, maybe a week early. However, with all holidays, I also frequently sell AFTER the holiday. That's always been the case for me. ETA: There was just a big article about how TJ Maxx & the like won't have as many 'designer' brands this year b/c the co's are prioritizing the main retailers, since it's so hard to get into any retailer right now. Makes total sense.

I was just culling some of my oldest pieces from 2015/16 to get rid of. There weren't many, but 1 thing stood out to me...not 1 plus item. It's a few more years forward before I have any unsold plus items.

Apparently the plus size clothing is still sitting out on freighters in the ocean, and they decided to unload the pajama carrying freighters instead. I don't think I've ever seen as many pj's at one time as I've seen online and in stores these past 2 weeks I had to laugh, the Christmas tees at one retailer are delayed and the scheduled shipping date has been moved out and out and out and now it's shipping Dec 1. Another brand says theirs will ship Dec 20. I've only seen about 6 Christmas tees total at the various retailer websites I visit regularly and those sold out fast in some sizes. Usually there are tons of prints/colors available by now. A pair of shoes I've been trying to get were sold out, then back in stock (so I ordered a pair), now backordered and expected Jan 4. They're not winterspecific though, more all-year, and I got them for a steal of a price, so I'll wait for the backorder to come in.

Somany, I have not seen any commercials like that from eBay. I sold some small items, but I am still trying to clean out old inventory before I decide if I should buy more. I like checking in with you guys to see how your doing because it helps me decide if I should continue to invest in inventory for online sales. I know so many things are backordered, but the things that are available, I am not liking the style. I was looking at pictures of Jayne Mansfield today and some of her clothes were so cute. I love some of the clothes from the 40's through the 60's.

I have been listing toys and Holiday stuff-(mostly cross=posting from eBay). Selling a variety of things, including some items that have been listed for over 10 years.
I sold a Halloween costume last week....?

My sales have ticked up the last couple of weeks. I've been trying to get the NWT and vintage items I have listed, anything that might work as a gift.

Welcome back bodyarticles!
Just list anything at anytime now. The market is totally weird. Just last week I sold 2 heavier fleece vests to someone in FL, 2 of the same pair of heavier velour pants to 2 different people in CA & a bathing suit to someone in FARGO, ND? Go figure. Here's to weird sales!
