When I grow up, I really want a walk-in shower like we see constantly on TV. But they are $5,000 - $8,000. My next fall will be getting out of the tub after my shower. We've always had a walk-in shower in one of our bathrooms - it IS nice to not have to climb in and out of the bathtub - seems like the worst accidents seem to happen at home and bathrooms are popular. When we did the reno we got one of the 3/4 round clear shower stalls - wow, it's spacious and you can actually see where you dropped the soap! We shovel the house out if we have guests - outside of that, all I can say is that it's hygienic where it needs to be hygienic, and seems to be a lot more picked up than most of our friends' houses, I think because we own less that would be in the main house portion. The basement/garage, however... ETA: November 10th brinksmanship - I had just packed up a couple of jackets when I remembered no mail tomorrow, and I won't be around Friday and possibly not Saturday. I had 15 minutes to get to the post office - you should have seen me sprinting across the parking lot in my clogs lol. Clogs aren't great for running, even if they're fast to put on and elevate one above the wet and puddles. But I made it.

This Lysol makes a nice foam that clings and slowly slides down/dissipates. It works much better than the Lysol canned bathroom foam spray because it's formulated to take out mineral/limescale/soap-scum vs the canned one that is just a foam cleaner and disinfectant. www.lysol.com/products/bathroom-cleaners/lysol-power-bathroom-cleaner. 240.00 for 2 hours is crazy! Unless they are sending in a crew. Way too high for an individual. See if you can find an individual cleaner who works on her/his own. Lots of cleaners don't want a once-a-month job because things get too dirty between visits if the homeowners don't clean anything on their own. Most like to do every other week or weekly cleaning.

I now have 3 feral kittens in my bathroom that I have to at least show signs of bringing them around to the light by next week or they will be spayed/neutered and returned to their neighborhood.
My neighbor and I hit the local Happy Hour this afternoon for inspiration for the task ahead with these wild things.
I don't think kitten season will ever be over this year.

Big disagreement over hiring house cleaners here. Called for a few quotes this morning thinking we could split the cost 50/50. Was quoted $240 for 2 hours of cleaning once a month. He lost his marbles and said that he won't pay anyone to do anything that he is capable of doing himself. I personally think time is money and it's a fantastic way to spend $120 each a month. Asked how much he'd be willing to put towards it and said I'd pick up the rest. His answer was ridiculous. He wanted me stay home today and clean. I'll stay home but I'm not cleaning. Mopping is really all that's left. He said he'd do it when he gets home tonight. I understand that cleaning is part of being an adult but we are busy and other than the usual daily maintenance, we never take the time to do it until we have to and it isn't like we can't afford it. Philly suburbs. I was very fortunate to find a 2 women team that comes every other Tuesday. $100. They supply their chemicals and vacuums. I hate cleaning but I also hate getting the house ready for them🤣. I vacuum on Sunday before their Tuesday cleaning. I try to strip and make the bed on Mondays and do that wash. Hubby throws the towels in the washer Tuesday morning. I wipe down the toilets to make them presentable, pick up the dog beds, open the curtains, and put everything away. We live in a 4 bedroom bilevel. One room is my office and they don’t clean that. I put my dogs in there when they come. Another room is partially filled with odds and ends to they don’t usually have to worry about that. I usually do the Target gift card deal at Christmas time and give them a $75 card each.

$240 may be the first clean. They usually come out, look around, ask what you want done and give an estimate either then or later.
My cleaners declare everything so they took off during the height of Covid 19 “the unknown”. I had just started using Venmo when Venmo came out and said they were going to start charging fees for some stuff. It was so easy not having to run to the ATM every 2 weeks.

I had people do that to me too. I cleaned the house for only $20 an hour and then they called and said that a relative was going to do it. No fair, since I had to scrub a lot of accumulated dirt. So it was basically their spring-cleaning.

He got home too late to finish up the floors so getting ready to do them (small area) and a few other minor cleaning chores then I'm heading to the mall to walk around and browse. Haven't been out of the house in days so looking forward to it.

Should I drop by this weekend and help with the socialization process?

Right now it would be a pretty tight squeeze for both of us to do anything in their bathroom location. They are currently hiding behind the toilet but do venture out when I play with a pole and string toy with them. Still in early stages so maybe by next weekend if they make good progress..
They are at least 8 weeks old now so the socialization process could go either way at this point. At least they will get my best shot at bringing them around.

If anyone can get them in the right direction, it's you, kritter. I have no doubt you'll have them being productive members of the kitteh family.

What a gorgeous day outside today! Warm, sunny and quite windy, which is really shaking the leaves loose from the trees at a rapid pace. The worst part is it's supposed to rain later which will make those wet leaves slick to walk on. And there are lots of them piling up on the walkway to the building.

Fingers and paws crossed here, Kritter, that you succeed in convincing the new kittens they want to be tame and have a good home. If anyone can do it, it's you. Simon agrees with me.

So far the tortie is named Holly. The black boy is named Kringle.
The tabby still hasn't told me her name.

My brother and his wife are coming tomorrow to see if he can get my itunes working right. Then we are going to lunch. He hasn't been here in quite some time so they will get to see my dogs. Gunner will most likely be in the crate. Not sure about the rest. He lives about 2.25 hr away. We usually meet in the Lancaster area or for those familiar with the area Shady Maple in East Earl.
We will probably go to Long Horn or a local diner which has great food.

We're staying 90 minutes north of us near the Canadian border getting ready to go hiking. It's raining steadily but up in the 50s so pretty warm. The DH isn't used to long miles afoot so we'll keep it to a reasonable distance, go back and clean up and then do some thrifting.

We lived in Exton in Chester County for 15 years.

Well, of course I found some windows 11 widgets last night that worked better to totally uninstall iTunes so when my brother sat at the computer today and reinstalled it, he was able to get it up and running right away.
The major problem that occurred overnight was what we used to call “OP” at the police department. Operator problem. Dummy me thought I totally lost my quicken file. This file has “my whole life” in it. Couldn’t find it on backups, couldn’t get it to restore from Carbonite, etc. so when my brother was here, he tried to restore it for me.
Once we met for lunch and he went home, I was able to find it. Now I can relax. I knew I had it set to backup every time I close it.

Those shower chairs are wonderful & make life so much easier & safer.
I've had one for years & highly recommend them.

Yes I do/did. I got one free from my health insurance. Just sold it. I can't figure out how to shower with it and not get water all over the floor. When I got home from the nursing home, I did sponge baths from my sink until I could step into my tub.

$240 to clean is on the high side but well within reasonable, esp for once/month. I've had 4 different cleaners over the years & yes it used to be $20 or $30 an hour back in the early 90's, but not nowadays. I've never had something stolen, though I did have someone who was hiring new employees & they were hit & miss, 1 of them was a nightmare & did damage something, but she only cleaned for me once. I've interviewed quite a few more & rates can be all over the place, as are the quality of the services. My move-out cleaning from someone who came recommended by the realtor at my last house, was awful! A bunch of teenagers & they missed so much, I had to keep harping on them. Yeah the co was owned by someone who knew what she was doing, but she hired teens to do the work. Companies are always more than individuals & I personally hate companies b/c your person can be different every week & other reasons. I will always go with an individual who works for themselves. I don't care about licensing, bonding, etc. If you hire a trustworthy pro, none of that is going to come into play. Licensing & bonding typically protect the company they work for, not the homeowners. I like people who can customize to do only what I want (which is a pretty common selling point these days even for co's) & I like the same person every time, so they get used to my desires. It's well worth the money IMO. Tell Cliff to stay home an entire day & clean the whole house, then see how he feels about hiring someone

We had a pleasant hike yesterday, rainy, but pleasant, and also a walk to the pub in the evening, so we had plenty of foot slogging. Came back today and the DH has gone to the Husky football game - it's pouring out and they're playing the Sun Devils, so we have that home-town advantage, but if they can't pull their offense together I'm not sure it'll do a lot of good. ETA: I actually was able to find 2 1/2 big bags of inventory thrifting - it took two days and 4-5 thrifts, but we managed.

Well it is that time of year that I have to switch summer and winter clothing. I hate doing it but I have stuff pretty well organized. Weather changed overnight so I need to drag out the colder walking gear. And put away the summer tanks. Can’t wait until I can do the reverse.
I always hold back a couple of tanks just in case.

We're getting our first snowflakes of the season gently floating down as I type. Thurs. was tee shirt weather, Fri. hoodie weather and yesterday I had on my down parka. Snow/mix today and tomorrow and back around 60 on Tuesday.
I remember when we used to swap summer for winter clothes and vice versa, but weather has been so up and down you have an "all season" closet.
