Try some of the non-dairy brands. They sometimes tend to have less sugar in them.

I had some bars last year and didn't notice any difference. Maybe they're made in regions, like GS cookies, so yours were made somewhere else besides where I was buying them last year? I'm certain they are made regionally.

Wait till December when they see a fat man in a red suit stuffing himself down chimneys.

Final Christmas present picked up today. Last of the Christmas decorations bought, with one item yet to be delivered. Good thing, too, becuase some of what I ordered is already sold out And I didn't even order anything "trendy" or "hot". I really, really want to put up the Christmas decorations this weekend. But I'll make myself wait. They're definitely going up the weekend before Thanksgiving though.

Every year the shopping center about a block from me throws up all the Christmas decorations overnight on 10/31 so November 1st, we are in 'tis the season'. This year the HEB store in that shopping center jumped on board too. I don't usually go on Saturday but I went today and it was an experience in a good way especially for a Saturday in that store. Totally precovid. Sampling everywhere for the first time in forever. Apparently they are going to have a Santa where you can get your pic taken this year because they had the Santa there with some HEB employees posing for pics with him to advertise it. Also a 3 person group setting up for in-store music which I missed because they just got there and were setting up when I was leaving. I heard a couple of Christmas carols on the speakers but not sure if they were just trying out the system or if actually is a go now. Absolutely love starting this earlier instead of the short time between Thanksgiving and Christmas like it used to be. Being in that store today made me smile behind my Barney mask. So, val2525 , if you want to put your decorations up, do it. Life is too short to even care about what others think. Take a page from Lincoln Height's and HEB's book and just do it. Give yourself a smile.

Picked up a new desktop computer today. Mine was 9 years old so it was time. Bought a Lenovo from Best Buy. I hate that store.
Worst part is transferring data and software.

kritter , your HEB and mine have been doing food samples for about 3 weeks now, at least. They don't do it every day though. I'll take my mask off to sample but I make sure I'm far away from other samplers I may give in and put up the decorations next week. I'm waiting on some kitchen rugs I ordered to come in and I'll be ready to start decorating It's been challenging (and fun!) trying to figure out how to decorate inside that is festive and still cat-safe. Target had the cutest 8" Christmas trolls up in their dollar section at the front (well, they were $3) but I can just see Simon thinking it's a really big play toy, drowning it in the water bowl and bringing it to me. So I passed on them. They would have been really cute on the breakfast bar.

The tree might not go up quite yet but the other decor is coming out!

If you have Norton Security or Norton 360 they can transfer everything over. All your Word/Notepad documents, PDF files, all your photos, favorite places/bookmarks, etc. If it's too hard to figure out, you can call them and they will install your existing Norton on your new machine and do the file transfer for you by remote. You just need to tell them what you want to transfer. If you have everything in separate desktop folders it makes it a lot easier.

My new tower is Lenovo from Best Buy. Previously I had gone to Staples but their Geek Squad (or whatever they call themselves) is terrible.

Kritter's next-door neighbors were hanging lights in their front yard this afternoon. I saw other people today putting up their outside lights too. I hope this means lots of people will be decorating and there will be lots of houses to drive by in the evenings and admire. Yup. Lights are going up next weekend here. I was in Target this afternoon so I bought the gnomes (blame Kritter!). I have one up on the breakfast bar right now. We'll see if he makes it through the night without being drowned. Tomorrow's project is to figure out how to backup my existing current cell phone and then download it on my new phone, so I can get the cell phone service switched over. I've put it off as long as I can

We are big decorators over in this part of town. The Halloween displays were really over the top this year.
My neighbors had so many lights up last year that planes could have mistaken their driveway for the airport runways.
I think I over Probioticed my kitten this evening. Won't go into details but there is evidence of this mishap. No more Probiotics for Jingles.

The test gnome didn't even make it through the night. I heard a thunk a few minutes ago and looked up from the computer to see Simon trotting from the kitchen to the living room with the troll. These trolls aren't tiny either. Fortunately he didn't drown it so I can return them all to Target this week. I have to take back some ornaments so I'll just take the gnomes too. Bummer, because they're really cute and I don't even like gnomes.

Val-can you take your cell into a store that carries them? They always do all of the transfers for me when I get my new cell.

I'm sure curious about those gnomes and may have to take a trip to Target tomorrow. Yesterday I took my string of orange Halloween lights down from above the dining room window and replaced them with my IKEA Christmas star lights. I hung them from the picture rail this time to make it easier to close the curtains but now they're not visible from outside. I clearly need to buy another string or 3 for outdoors.
It seems we're having our classic PNW winter weather- wet & gloomy. A festival of lights is just what we need; I'm always sorry when folks take down ALL their outdoor holiday decor instead of leaving the lights up for another 2 months.

My neighbor across the alley from me leaves his backyard Christmas on all year round. I can see them from my bedroom window. I think I might put some up around the cat pen and leave them up all year too. I just need to find a way to plug them in.

Up where I am a number of people leave their lights going all year round - it's nice when we're hauling into May or early June and it's still dark and damp, to see them twinkling. It's been that way ever since I can remember, so I think people do like the cheer. We don't do lights or anything, but now that we have a place to hang it, I've taken to putting a wreath on our light stand outside. I might get some red and white tape to wind round the pole, too. That's about as festive as it gets because most other things are covered with trees or not really visible.

If your outdoor Christmas lights are white, then after New Year's they become "party lights" that can stay up as long as you want, right?
Especially on the back side of your house, like around a porch.

Just took a bit. I do have Norton but didn't think about that. I could have also used One Drive. I was able to locate the duplicates too. All good. Found my Paperport CD which was the biggest PITA because I knew it was somewhere but had to sort through piles of junk to find it. Tonight I will move it to my office and set up the scanner and install an old Turbotax CD from last year so I know my file is ready for the new year.

I think I made an iPhone photos folder.

I have a little terabyte external drive that I back up on and then reload - that's another way to do it. Generally I clean up my system before doing that so I don't transfer a lot of junk I don't need. My last system I'd used for about 12 years through numerous jobs with proprietary software, and it was so bad that the DH had to do it - he said it was the 'most constipated' system he had ever worked on, and that's after I had already done a preliminary clean up.

I have a WD "My Book" but I don't like the way it loads on there. I pulled out the spare one but it wouldn't turn on. Tried a different plug. The problem is my Toshibas are smaller drives. I just had to do it a few large files at a time. This one will run Office Pro, Quicken, Paperport, Turbotax and maybe Photoshop Elements. I don't use much else.

Can someone tell me how to get pictures that are on a cell phone over to your laptop computer? I have several wedding pictures from my niece's wedding that my sister took for me with my phone. I want to get them deleted from there and onto my laptop so I can edit them and print them out to frame.

I am sure there are probably better ways, but I’ve uploaded mine from my phone to Shutterfly and onto my hard drive from there. Usually, I will email a few photos at a time as I take them. I don’t keep a lot on my phone.

I never could figure out how to send cell pics to my computer. That's why I take pics of stuff to list with my camera and just transfer them to a picture file.

I go to gallery, pick the photo, pick share/email and email it to myself, the open the email on the computer. There's probably an easier way though.

New phone is up and running, old phone has been factory reset. Now I just have to wait for Sprint to send me the return envelope. Good thing I called them first. My new phone case is pink & green with flamingos and hibiscus. I couldn't find any cat-themed ones for the new phone model.
I need to figure out how to download more ring and notification tones. THe ones already on the phone suck.
