Looks like they are messing with stores again. They removed the categories down along the left side and put them in a drop down menu only showing the main categories. You have to click on the arrows to find the sub-categories. I don't like it. I feel like this will negatively impact my sales, as the categories of my CDs and DVDs aren't visible to my browsers.

Horrible! Mine started last night. They asked me to rate it, but it was as if I was a buyer.

Well, I did my part and responded to rate Jeremy's store about the new setup and it wasn't a good one. That's utterly ridiculous to have to wade through 1000+ listings instead of specific categories that were on the left side. I pointed out the new setup was not only a time waster, it would only frustrate buyers and lose sales for sellers.
O.k., I did notice after you click on categories and get the choices, there's an arrow to the right that clicking on that opens another box with the specific categories. It's still an extra step and I can barely see the arrows, and I"m on a desktop with large monitor.
This is definitely one of the dumbest things ebay has come up with.

This is definitely one of the dumbest things ebay has come up with. Yes, I thought the sub-categories weren't working because the top level categories are clickable but do nothing. I accidentally clicked on an arrow and saw the sub. Unfortunately, if you want to go from Rock to Country, you have to click 2 or more times rather than just the one time from before.

FFS, don't make it harder for the buyer, make it easier. When I'm buying, the less clicks I have to make to get to what I want, the more time I have to browse and buy. You put too many clicks and steps in my search and I'm going to shop somewhere else.

Hmmm - maybe because I don't have that much listed, but I really like it. The drop-down works great and the store looks really good. I wonder if there are different 'experiences'?

Mine doesn't show all of the categories, like kid's clothing. Probably because I have too many categories-the max of 300.

If you don't have a lot of sub-categories, I think it's fine. I like the overall look. But if you have a store with a lot of sub-categories, it's a lot of extra clicks and it's just not 'intuitive'. I was trying to find my sub-categories and figured if I clicked on the main category, they would show but they didn't. You have to click on the arrow which I only did on accident. Unfortunately, music and movies are those types of items where people like specific genrea; horror, romance, metal, country, etc. So a lot of sub-categories help them find their preferences and help me get more sales by them browsing.

You're not alone chapeaunoir I really like it too, it's a much cleaner look & at least on my own store, it was 1 click to Shop by Category & it brought up all my categories in 1 pop up. I'll have to try it looking at Jeremy's store to see these drawbacks, cuz on my own store, I'm loving it! The photos are bigger & the view is much cleaner. I do not use subcategories. ETA: Yeah, it's bad if you use subcategories. It would have taken me awhile to figure out I have to click on the arrows to find Metal. I can really see it being an issue for media sellers. That said, I love it for my store.

I think that's right - the subcats are not well enough delineated and the back and forth is ridiculous - eBay seems to have problems adapting all the moving parts to mobile (similar when I helped test the beta for the new listing form).

Well, the new setup is actually just how it would be on mobile, with that little arrow for the subcats, but it sucks for the desktop. IDK how long it would have taken me to notice the arrow.

Yes - they can't seem to manage web and mobile. as separate entities you mean? They can't seem to coordinate them and really over-complicate matters.

HORRIBLE HORRIBLE HORRIBLE!!!! Who wants to look through hundreds of pages to find anything. They have buried the subcategories which are essential for me. Now, if you want to find necklaces, for example, you have to click on the top little little text and realize the tiny arrow is there next to the main category (I sure didn't see that for awhile); otherwise you can scroll through hundreds and hundreds of things you are not interested in. I put in category pictures, thinking that when you clicked on them you could easily find the subcatagories--right? No, wrong. It's even worse because the little arrow isn't there. Just my millions of jewelry listings.
They even mucked with my banner picture. Can't they go away and leave us alone? I can't believe such a terrible design in 2021 but I should have anticipated it as that is all they can do; even the feedback pages are worse with subheads like feedback given harder to find. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

I'm not following why several ppl here are saying that you have to scroll through hundreds of items. I went to your store Frakin & can see your necklaces in 2 clicks. Then, there are 188 necklaces & with the per page I have, that makes it 2 pages worth, though that part hasn't changed. This is on the PC, I haven't looked at the new stores on my phone.
I get that that's 2 more clicks than before & that you have to notice the arrow, which are new & undesired changes, but why would anyone have to scroll through hundreds of anything? I got right to your necklaces in 2 clicks.
ETA: It's actually only 1 more click than before.

If you don't notice the arrow to the right and click on category, it brings up all listings in that category. You have to click on the arrow to bring up subcategories. To me, the arrow is too light and should at least be more visible for potential buyers to click to narrow choices.
I just wish ebay would concentrate on fixing what's broken instead of breaking what isn't.

If you navigate properly, it's 2 clicks, same as before actually & no additional scrolling nec. I agree some won't notice the arrow for subcategories at first. But once they see it, it's a piece of cake & is a far more modern way of navigating. I think older people will have a harder time than younger, as it's basically the same as much of the cell phone navigation.

Doing my best to adapt to eBay's changes.
Meanwhile, Marketplace changes everything constantly. Color, sizes, shipping are different from day to day. Some sellers have major problems with returns, restricted accounts and balances. At least I haven't had any problems with those so far.
So I guess that they are even worse than eBay.

I think older people will have a harder time than younger, as it's basically the same as much of the cell phone navigation. Oftentimes the trouble in adapting to a new design comes from something that's actually common in poor form design - lack of clarity in new navigation pathways. I used to design forms when I was an editor (it was a favourite task), and in my case there was also the accurate transmission of information from one form to another, particularly under stressful conditions (I worked for a large city hospital). Many hospital errors, for instance, come from simple inconsistencies in reading and adapting information from one form to another. In this case, it's just a physical problem - agree the arrow needs to be more apparent and, when I was testing the new store format, it wasn't intuitive at all - you had to somehow know it would be there, then squint at it. I have good eyesight and am used to adapting to new formats, and I had to look for it. Once I finally found it, the navigation was easy and, I agree, more consistent with how navigation is now. They may have improved it, though - things are sometimes kinda rough when they're first rolled out. But man, I also wish they'd fix the constant glitches before rolling new stuff out.
