EF organic cotton dress, similar to a shirtdress. I know nothing about sewing, so maybe this is normal, but it's not something I normally see & it seemed odd to me that a quality brand like EF would have it. From the outside, the pockets look fine & normal, but inside there's this white fabric, I think it's called facing. Why would that be there on a quality brand, if it's original. I also noticed the pockets are a slightly different color & fabric. But, all the stitching is tight & normal looking. In other words, the pockets seem original to the dress, it's just the white fabric inside that has me questioning it. TIA.

I'm going to guess it's original and added to stabalize the pocket so it doesn't stretch out the seam. Without that it may not lay flat at the side / seam. I can't tell if it is a knit fabric or not but it would especially help it lay flat if it is.

Hard to be sure but since the stitching is identical on each piece I'd say it's original. Of course someone could have paid a sewist with a serger sewing machine to make their pockets longer and more functional but that seems less likely.

It is not a knit, but after I posted, I wondered if it had something to do with stability, as that would seem in line with the general quality of EF. Thank you both!
