Chap-I wonder if the metal roofs would work? We have a lot of houses around here with the new metal ones. I think a metal roof would drive me crazy in the rain lol. I have this weird thing about repetitive noises, like if the sink is dripping or the clock ticking it's the only thing my brain can focus on. Thank goodness for white noise machines, I don't know how I'd be able to sleep at night. Our roof is probably 10 years old or close to it, ugh we'll probably have to replace it sooner rather than later 
It's still very warm here, it's so tiresome. I need to mow again but I'm trying to hold off until after Halloween so I don't have to move the skeletons, headstones, etc. I sure hope it's not a warm Thanksgiving this year.
Goodness groceries have gone up so much this is the first week in the last three weeks I haven't gone over budget. I think that's because I didn't get any meat. I guess I need to really cut back or raise my budget.
Chap when do you finish the Orange Theory Challenge? I'd like to see the t-shirt if possible  |

Jes-I didn't think about the noise, but they are expensive so maybe they have special insulation? About 5 years ago, a house that I pass by often got a new blue metal roof that looks so pretty...since I love blue. Now I see more and more of them.
Only 55 degrees here and rainy. So much for the 70 degree days. But it is seldom this nice (70's) for this long around here.

They were a thing here for a little while but moss grows on those as well, plus they're costly and not everyone likes their appearance. jesmelric - It finishes on 10/30 - the shirts I've seen from past events have been a kind of Halloween theme since the event is a bit of a Halloween event - given that we work out "under the orange lights" (the lighting is darkish and orange). I'm hoping they say something like "I went to hell for a week and all I got was this T-shirt" lol. Food up here has never been really inexpensive - I'm always surprised at how much less a lot of people in other parts of the country pay - some depends on what you're buying, though. What really hit me was when rice went up a few years ago - I eat rice almost daily and that DID impact my budget. The DH has a very rigid eating system so we seldom share meals unless we go out, so my own food budget isn't bad, but I don't watch it that much with just one to feed (me). ETA: All through the pandemic we had rice shortages and rice rationing. You could get white rice in some types and sizes, but brown rice was almost impossible to get - I was buying the little 1 lb bags when I could find it. |

fyi- there are some Orange Theory Hell Week shirts currently listed on ebay for sale. Chilly 50s here. Yesterday late afternoon there was a line of severe weather heading up from the south that had a lot of NE OH under tornado warnings. Came up about 30 minutes away before changing course to the east and spared out large county. There were 3 confirmed tornadoes. Thankfully, haven't heard about any deaths.
correction: 7 confirmed tornadoes from 0-1 category and no deaths reported, thank God.

Got up to go walking and it is raining. No idea where it came from. Supposed to stop shortly.
Used the time to turn on the heat to burn off the stink. Came right on and the odor isn’t that bad. Going to turn it off in a few minutes.

Today was "dump your old prescriptions for disposal" day at City Hall so we did a microchip clinic there too. Several people came with large bags of old medicines. When I left they had collected 12 giant boxes and people were still driving in. Not much microchip activity but we all had a chance to catch up in person. It seems like I only see a lot of people in our rescue/foster group at the find raising bake sales.

Shampood the hallway, living room and dining room carpet this afternoon. Didn’t move the furniture. Will do that next time. Hoping DH volunteers to do the small area downstairs himself. He suggested I do that and his office. He can do it.
Keeping him and the dogs downstairs until bedtime. Trying to let the carpet dry as much as possible.

Check out the Chrome extensions for cently and retailmenot. They both go out and search for coupons and auto apply them, to see which is the best deal for you. Even if a site doesn't have a coupon (rare), you can still log in and get cashback, anywhere from 1.5% to 6% depending on the retailer. Easy to use and they've saved me a good bit of money.

Day one of Hell Week - our coach was this tough, burly, kind of portly guy with a bellow like a drill sergeant and who bounced around like a kid. He was yelling "C'mon, Shoreline! Put your backs into it, this is Hell Week, not heck week!" lol (the studio is in the town of Shoreline and I found, to my curiosity, that Shoreline has the reputation for being one of the more whack studios because of the work load the participants put out - that was kind of cool). He also played loud grunge and outside the rain just poured down and the sun never came up. Now I'm for a nap (I was up half the night with noisy Jamie again - I'll be glad when we take her to the vet). Mmmm...then some espresso. Great morning!
The DH left on a bike ride just after I left for class - he's going to be pretty wet when he gets back and probably blown around in the wind, but he has the right clothes for it.
We're supposed to watch out for 'bomb cyclones' - a knock-on effect from the Pacific cyclones. We have squalls pretty much continually this time of year and some of them uproot trees and cause mudslides, but I had never heard them call 'bomb cyclones' - we always just called it November.

Noises used to bother me too chap but for some reason it's gotten slightly better than it used to be. Bubble gum snapping still drives me crazy and kids bouncing balls in thrifts stores... ugh. I cannot sleep without a sound machine. We actually sleep with two of them on at the same time in the same room plus the a floor fan blowing. A while back I found one that lights up and has usb ports (the brand is Hemingweigh). I was getting marpac/Dohm's anytime I saw a nice one at the thrifts, occasionally someone in my small circle wants one and it's nice to have extras incase one stops working. Now I have a nice stash but it's hard leaving them on shelf when I see them and they don't sell nearly as well as they used to especially with shipping... it isn't worth it.
Roof is done and the stucco repair is done too. Now we need to get over there and paint what they repaired. Cliff is thinking about a metal roof when he replaces his. Never thought about the noise from rain, seems like they'd have some type of insulation or something to alleviate that.
Tried one color street sample nail that my hair stylist gave me. It was easy to put on and 3 days later looks as good as it did on day 1. I'm impressed so far so I ordered a few sets on Ebay. Can't believe that I haven't been to nail salon since the spring of 2020 and have no interest in going back. With the exception of hair cuts, if there is something that I can do here at home. I do it.
