So, my daughter moved out this last weekend. She has been planning to move, hit a slight snag and then it all came together in the last couple of weeks. Her boyfriend has been here for a couple weeks from Ohio AND she has a job that she starts in a week or so. She has grown so much from the tiny little lady that was held down by her anxiety. She is really pushing her boundaries and so far, she's been so awesome. I've never seen her happier. Her boyfriend goes back home at the end of the week, but I am pretty sure she's prepared for that. She just has continued to amaze me over the last few years and especially the last couple of months. Her new place is still pretty close and she only has to pay $500 a month for everything and her roommate isn't pressing her to pay right away. Her roommate is one of her teachers who she is really close with and has helped her tremendously. All in all, it's a very good situation. She gets to experience being on her own and slowly ease in to becoming a responsible adult instead of moving out and being instantly broke.

Congrats, Jeremy, that all your hard work has paid off in raising such a great daughter. I bet you can't wipe that smile off your face if you tried.

Congrats, Jeremy! It's sad when they move out, but then that means we've done our job successfully. And you get used to it really quick lol. We've been an empty nest for 7 years now and it's nice and quiet and the food stays where you put it
Well mom didn't end up going to Galveston because she found out it was a 6 hour trip and she thought that would be too much for her, especially since she's had diarrhea on and off lately. When we went Saturday she had to go in 3 times (in a one hour visit). And it's a big ordeal, the girl has to come to the door an unlock it with a code and walk mom back to the bathroom then bring her back outside. My sister talked to the nurse (or maybe it was nurses aide?) and she said they were going to adjust a particular medication to see if that would help. But she is becoming quite friendly with one of her roommates and she said they laugh together a lot which is really nice.
We've had thunderstorms the last three days which is really hampering me putting out my outside Halloween decor. And I still need DH to do my skeletons, he usually has a good idea every year. I did get all my indoor decor out, very retro and festive. Now if it would just cool off to match my fall feeling!
Just got a notice from the gas company that our bill is going up to pay for the recovery costs of the winter storm. Like some how it was our fault they weren't prepared. And this is after the notice from the city that the water bill is going up (which it does annually, this is just a bigger one) to pay for "aging infrastructure". Well everything goes up but the paychecks

It will be closer to the elections and people might actually remember and vote Abbott OUT.

We are having great weather here in SE PA. Sunny and cool. Dogs ar loving their walks in cooler, less humid weather. Trying to watch my foot, which still hurts. Not sure if it is the same issue or from the shot.
Have to go in early today for a Covid test. I will take the hour OT.

Personally, no way do I want another deep freeze this winter. It won't make any difference in the voting if all the other stuff going on doesn't make a difference.

Gorgeous week here, too. Temps warm enough to still wear short sleeves, low humidity and plenty of sunshine. Hard to believe tomorrow is Oct. 1st already and by end of the month, trees and other greenery will be devoid of leaves and into the dreaded winter season once again. I have a lot to do inside, but going out every day to bask in the great weather while it lasts.
Hope your foot starts feeling a lot better, asap, labbypaws. Hard to focus on anything when your foot (feet) hurt.

Our temps are looking pretty good for the next week. We really lucked out this summer, it started out silly hot in June for a short bit until monsoon season hit. Meeting a friend for lunch. Been eating out a little too much this past week or so. Waistline isn't looking overly great but calories schmalories. Who can say no when asked to meet for lunch.

If I thought it would make a difference for people getting off their butts and voting it might be worth it, but they won't We were very lucky, we only lost power for a day and we have a generator. We also have a gas stove so we were able to use the burners. We lost water for 4 days and that sucked but we had filled the tub for flushing water and we were too cold to sweat lol. But our hair was pretty dang greasy. Then again people were freezing so we really just can't complain. Still I really wouldn't want to do it again. DH lost 3 days of work, too.

I want a few really cold days this winter to kill off the ticks. We had a fairly mild winter last year and the ticks were bad this summer.

Sitting on the same bench with you and I never lost power or water. I fully expected to as it was going out all around me but I was very lucky. Didn't have any pipes freeze either which was also a blessing. I figure the Cat Gods were watching over all these felines that live here and I was just lucky enough to be along for the ride.

Prayers needed for DD and my son-in-law. After 3 weeks of daily shots, they finally (hopefully) got enough of his stem cells for the transplant (Hodgkin's lymphoma). He goes into the hospital tomorrow for 3 weeks. DD is on paid family leave from her job until the first week of November. We're just praying that this works for him.

((Sunset's daughter and SIL!!!)) And all appendages crossed!
It's been raining almost every day here, and it feels SO good. We purchased a large ceramic basin and a little frog king statue to take care of the sink hole that forms from the water flooding the gutters and forming a waterfall. The basin fills and then just drains around itself more slowly. The DH positioned it and put the frog out looking into the basin and it looks pretty cool (the frog is wearing a crown) - today it was really doing its job. The temps have dropped and we're all in sweaters and layers. This weekend we're going over the mountains - last time before the passes close and everyone stays put. It will be warmer there - we're just going over for a last little nip of sunny fall. The DH has a bike ride planned and I'm planning on running the 10 miler over there. We'll go to the pub and maybe do some thrifting (which I hardly every do anymore, so it'll be different). Just a nice getaway. Our friend will house sit - luckily he's adept at giving cats medications because Jamie is on 2 meds and potassium powder in her food. He likes using the DH's big video setup with the big screen and about 1000 videos to choose from lol. He's also welcome to the beer we keep in the basement.

Sunset-many many prayers going up for them! I know so many people who had stem cell transplants, (even 25 years ago!) and all of them were successful.

Omg please don't let it happen again!! Lol. Does dry shampoo help with the itch?
Raining all morning, I hope it moves out soon so I can take Janey out for her walk. She gets mopey if we don't get out
We are heading to Aldi's tomorrow, pineapples are $.85 ! I think I'll get flour, sugar, etc while I'm there, Kroger has been out of random things and I'm concerned about Thanksgiving. Then flu shots, and then it's supposed to rain some more We'll see mom Sunday. I made some homemade vanilla ice cream today, which a chocolate swirl. Only it came out more like a chocolate mish mash lol. But it tastes good!
Sunset, sending prayers for you son-in-law.

I ordered a pair of shoes from DSW yesterday. They were delivered today. Wow. I've never had anything delivered that fast that wasn't an Amazon next day delivery, and even then, it came in earlier than the AMZ order would have

Prayers sent for sunsetpainter's SIL and family for successful outcome and bright future ahead.
jesmelric- I've only used a dry shampoo many years ago advertised as "camp shampoo" because you didn't need water. It was a powder you worked through hair. All I remember is I had oily hair and it did soak up excess oil and it was a lot easier putting it in my hair than shaking/brushing it out. I'm sure dry shampoos have improved considerably since the 80s.
Watching "House of Dark Shadows". Love seeing the characters from the series, especially Barnabas Collins. I have to chuckle how many of us girls 9-10 years old at school had the hots for him when Dark Shadows came out. hee hee

Dry shampoo is popular now for adding volume. I use Batiste brown as my hair is fine and has thinned quite a bit in the last few years.

There was an Illinois State trooper shot and killed in Chicago today on the Dan Ryan expressway in Chicago. That's the road DD has to take to and from the hospital where my son-in-law is. Prayers requested for her safety too.
