My grandma always used to do wash on Monday. We have a new Sunday routine. Other than a few morning errands, we stay in. It's been nice. Last week I got a text from Cricket (cell phone provider) saying that they're offering HBOmax for free so yesterday we binge watched Larry David (the first season... again) and he watched Ocean's Eleven (again).

I like staying in on Sundays. We often do "lunch and a movie", it's one of my favorite things We watched Malignant on HBOMax yesterday, well that is one trippy movie lol. I did not see that twist coming.
Well we are being affected by Tropical Storm Nicholas today and they are saying through tomorrow. So far today we've had on and off rain but they are saying the worst will be tonight into tomorrow morning so I am sure hoping we don't get any flash flooding. We've never taken water in the house (knock on wood!) but DH built the master bath a bit lower than the rest of the house and because of the way the backyard drains his closet in the bathroom has been known to take on water. Plus we are at the end of the sewer line (the man hole is in the neighbor's backyard) and when it rains too heavy too fast, our toilets do not flush. It is the city sewer lines and they replaced them 5 or so years ago and nope, same problem. It doesn't happen frequently but when it does it is not good
We had a nice visit with mom Saturday and the weather was bit less humid so it was nice sitting outside. And mom's laundry isn't much this week but there is actually her own pair of jeans in there!! Randomly no shirts, though. But she was wearing one of her own shirts. It's a mystery. I am cooking next Saturday and having her over to eat. She enjoys the change of scenery. And youngest DD can come see her for a bit, now while she had the antibodies so there's no risk to mom.

I watched LuLaRich on Prime over the weekend. Meh. It was interesting to find out what happened to the company (LaLa Roe) but the editing was horrible IMO and not up to Amazon's usual standards. I skipped a lot of it, it was soooooooooo slow and boring. The two owners are a trip, and not in a good way. Big tax deadline Wednesday and every company I'm opening today to do the return has issues, and supposedly these were already reviewed and ready for the tax return. *sigh* I suppose I can look at it as job security . Love the cat gif doing laundry!

I actually went into the laundry room to look for mom’s stuff.

jesmelric- I don't get how her laundry's getting mixed up with someone else's if there's a basket and they're supposed to put dirty laundry in the basket. I assume she changes in her room? Take off clothes, put in basket and put on other clothes, whether Mom's doing ti or an employee.

Take off clothes, put in basket and put on other clothes, whether Mom's doing ti or an employee. I have no clue. There's a basket with a laminated paper in it saying FAMILY WILL DO LAUNDRY. And because of Covid we are not allowed to go to her room so we have no idea what's going on there. 2 weeks ago the director was there when we went and my sister mentioned the clothes to her and she said she was sorry she would get it straightened out. And since then we've seen more of mom's stuff, but definitely not all.
Well tropical storm Nicholas actually made hurricane strength before landfall, but the coastline got the worst of it. We didn't actually get a ton of rain her in the NW part of town, but the wind was wicked. Apparently DH's canopy blew into the neighbor's backyard, he will get it after work. Not sure why he didn't take it down. There's a lot of small tree branches and debris, I guess we will have to rake. I took Janey out a little too early, the rain wasn't hard but the wind was whipping it around and made it very difficult to control an umbrella. And one of my shoes got sucked off in the mud at the park But the sun is already peeping out now.

My step-sister worked in the laundry room of our local nursing home. They don't do the laundry of the patients individually, so when mixed with the laundry of several others....ergo the problem.

On America's Got Talent tonight...the 9 year old opera singer, Victory Brinker...lives 10 miles from me. Go Victory! Unfortunately, I don't think that an opera singer has ever won.

I can see why she didn't win - I've listened to a number of her videos and despite her poise she sails off key on the high notes and tends to keen - her voice is still developing and she's just too young. It's her youth that's wowing everyone. I wish parents wouldn't stage manage their kids like this. There's a great mezzo soprano in the making and they pushed her into it too soon. Hopefully she'll keep following her passion.

I miss walking. Seeing a sports podiatrist next Wednesday. Heel is still sore. Just getting a diagnosis.

I miss walking. Seeing a sports podiatrist next Wednesday. Heel is still sore. Just getting a diagnosis. I hope they can help you. Not being able to walk is terrible I have a big lump of mid foot arthritis on top of my left foot, sometimes it acts up and sometimes it's ok but I'm always worried it's going to get bad and I won't be able to walk very well on it.
We have had the left over remnants of Nicholas causing cloud cover here so at least the temperatures haven't been too bad. In fact yesterday the high was only in the 80s! For Sept that's not bad at all here. We might get a cool front next week, that would be so lovely. Maybe I can get some more yard work done. Now we need to rake the back yard from all the debris from Nicholas.
I've been tempted to get out the Halloween early but it's in the attic and it's just been too hot. We plan to go to Goodwill Sunday, I hope they have some Halloween out by now.

We were able to see Space X last night. We both have binoculars but were able to see it withhout even though it was dark and partly cloudy. Pretty cool considering it took off in Florida and we saw it from our balcony in Myrtle Beach. Looking through binoculars caught the main part separating and kept watching until it disappeared.
Hard to believe we've been here a week and will start packing up and loading the van tomorrow so we can leave early for the drive back Saturday. Picked a great week for the beach.

That's a really good idea - they know everything there is to know about feet, unlike orthopedists - they're also wonderful at prevention. I hope you get resolution from this and can go back to your walks!

That's a really good idea - they know everything there is to know about feet, unlike orthopedists - they're also wonderful at prevention. I hope you get resolution from this and can go back to your walks! Thanks. I messed up last Friday and couldn't bear any weight on the same foot I have had issues with. I used a neck massager and ice on it all weekend. By Sunday I could walk in the yard to clean up after the dogs. I know I have a small bone spur but am guessing it is bigger. I think it all stems from my big toe injury. Looking for a firm diagnosis. I follow the PF Facebook page but it isn't too promising. One of the coach's here said to give it time. I just want the correct diagnosis first. And I don't want to waste a bunch of money on stuff that won't work.

Absolutely agree with getting a firm diagnosis before going further - if it's a bone spur a couple of options is a steroid shot in the area and if that doesn't work, having it removed. They're not uncommon in the running/hiking community - painful and really aggravating but there are remedies with a solid diagnosis.
It's rainy and in the 50s here - nice to see our normal weather back, though the DH is complaining - he wants summer all year round so I told him to move to the Southwest, but he thinks not (summers are too hot). I refuse to be a snowbird since I like the rain and cold, and am just fine here, so that option is out after retirement. Now he wants to sell the house and get a condo or townhouse - I don't want to sell it, particularly since we're dumping another about 15k into it for new windows and floor/paint (I'm having sticker shock - 10k to replace the five windows in our living room/library). Good grief - we need to live here long enough to enjoy the upgrades!
I AM cleaning the place out, though, starting with several hundred books that need to go. I'm just going to donate them - the thrifts here always have people haunting their bookshelves and the used book stores do a pretty good business, so there's definitely a demand.

We're ba-aack! Great overdue vacation with great weather, uneventful drive both ways and as much as we loved mostly being beach bums, it's nice to be back home. I guess the postal carrier didn't get the memo I put in and have confirmation to hold mail from the 9th and deliver on the 20th because I could barely open the tiny mailbox that was crammed and crinkled full of mail. Thankfully, fellow tenants are honest and 2 small packages were still in front of our apartment door. Can't complain or important mail would probably "accidentally" get lost or shredded.
As much as we loved being down there after 2 years, it is good to be back home.

I'm still recovering from hauling stuff up the stairs from the van and still have more. Don't know how stuff seems to multiply even when we didn't really buy anything except food that we pretty much ate before leaving. Regardless which of us was driving, almost 12 hours on the road only stopping to empty bladder(s) or fill up gas tank does take something out of us. Heading to IGA for milk and a few things and spending the rest of the day pretty much looking like kritter's cat in previous post.

Got back from IGA and noticed a black tree rat (aka squirrel) on the balcony. Thought it odd it wasn't in a hurry to leave and kept spraying at it (I think it was carpet cleaner from Dollar Tree) and noticed a nest in the corner under a table. Took squeeze mop to push it off and a smaller tree rat came out of it (I don't know who scared who more). Hurried to shut the door behind me and wound up spraying and beating at both of them who kept returning while trying to break up the nest and shove it off the balcony. Neighbors must have heard me cussing and fussing and looked up in amusement when they left the building. Finally succeeded in getting rid of the nest, sprayed the balcony and added some cayenne pepper and neither has come near it since.
We never had this problem when branches were trimmed back every year with old management. Supposedly, it's supposed to be done soon. Can't be soon enough.

Long car drives just wreck me - I actually find it easier to ride a bike for 12 hours than drive or be in a car for 12 hours. Went to Orange Theory this morning but aside from that, have been looking pretty much like Kritter's cat, as well. Our old cat keeps roaming around meowing - she was doing laps around the ground floor. We're having squalls with thunderstorms today and it's just as well she's nearly deaf - they don't bother her now, so I'm not sure why she's being so noisy.

Good grief NO NO NO to Prairie Dresses
It started out as a viral joke on the internet… now it’s become a fashion statement and the hottest trend of spring 2021: the pandemic prairie dress.

I have no problem with prairie dresses - better than the ho' clothes the local Ross Dress for Less is always pushing. They're a trend that goes around about every 15 years.
