Some of these required IS are ridiculous. In CDs, IS are required for Format (CD - mind you this is the CD category), Title and Artist (which is already in the title of the listing). And since I use the eBay catalog to list, WHY CAN'T THEY AUTOPOPULATE THEM? It now takes me twice as long to list a CD.
They are required in the Book sections too: Title and Author...both already in the title.

TG they aren't changing clothing again!!!!!
Since Covid hit, I have been slowly going through my 1,600+ inventory....relisting the listings dropped from eBay and cross-posting to 6 sites. Or revising all of my items and cross-posting.
I still have over 1,000 Recommended fixes. They all popped up in the past year and insane! I am currently revising suits and there must be about 30 IS's!!
And where they asked for the color, the former blueS is now blue. So allllll of those have to be changed, as well as the measurements that are now like 30 in, versus just the number before.

Some of the clothing CATEGORY IDs are changing. I don't know how that will affect the listing IS's.

Happy to see that Jewelry and Collectibles are going to be having a total re-do. Well, that should keep me submerged in busy work as I change one inane "specific" to another in another category for no reason on close to 1,000 lots. Yay! Thanks eBay!

I apologize because I lied. Suits don't have 30 IS'; they now have 42 IS's +. I fill out 42 of them and I used N/A for a few of them. Who the hecks reads all of that?

I only put in the required IS. Anything optional is no go and usually ridiculous.

I am filling them all in as I list new stuff or revising because I know darned well that they will eventually be asked for. I am all of the way down to only 1026 more with recommendations...

Any title containing the word blue, wants you to put that the character is "Blue". When the program doesn't recognize the brand they often tell me to list Sz or Size as the brand. Those are just a couple of things that happen often and make me lose confidence in their program.

Sounds like they're doing the same thing as in clothes where we now have to say a skirt is a skirt, even though it's in the skirts category & skirt is in the title. Plus Department, so we have to say it's Womens, even tho' it's in the women's category & most men don't wear skirts, unless they are kilts. I had a weird one, either a mug or stationery or something that I had to assign a gender to. With everything happening in the US for recognizing non-binary ppl & not designating genders & using preferred pronouns, it's so weird to have to assign binary genders to inanimate objects, on Ebay.

I think that's more just eBay's crap 'structured catalog' rather than reflecting any language changes. I also don't bother with the 'recommended' IS's - they're going to change them all again down the road anyway, they always do, and people don't search on those anyway. I think it's a huge time waster.

What I am now finding is that some of the previously required IS's are now down in the lower optional section. And now, although I am revising a few a day, my total recommended is going up again. eBay hates me.

Ebay doesn't hate you Denise denise15601. Everyone gets those IS Recommendeds. Mine are over 1000. We just ignore them b/c there's no reason to change them.

But the total is supposed to go DOWN! Ebay is changing requirements right now with the quarterly update, so that may well be why they went up. I just never worry about it at all, unless it's a Required.

In the past, the recommended soon became required. So if that happens, I have a few done.
