Rosie and Cleo are leaving here today at 6:30 bound for Seattle. Cleo's person is picking her up at the airport and Angie is delivering Rosie to her new home tomorrow.
She came by last night and showed me pics of Rosie and she is huge. Weighs over 4 pounds now. She was so tiny when she first showed up in my backyard.

Simon is getting taller but he's still skinny as heck. He eats pretty good though, and will put away a whole can of wet food on his own in one sitting.

Jamie the fluff budget cat has always been skinny - she's tall and long but is all fur - the underlying cat is just skin and bones - we tried to keep her over 8 lb during her life and she has always had a good appetite though a bit of a nibbler, but she's just over 5 lb now - she's moving toward being 20 years old, though, so she's always been healthy.

Will post some pics of Cleo and Rosie on their trip to Seattle. Rosie and Angie are on light rail right now going to meet Rosie's new Mom at the Univ of Washington.
To think that she was thrown over my fence one rainy night and now she has been on a plane and a train on her way to her new home. They are getting one great lil kitten.

Kritter, your foster stories are all really amazing. I still remember the kitten with the jar caught on his head and how you tracked him down/got it fixed, Tucker that beautiful colored kitten that DH was so drawn to and often asked me about way back, and all the other stories including Barney. I love reading about all of them. You don't need matching towels or dishes in your house. Something so much more important is going on there everyday.

Did I ever tell ya'll that Shadow was adopted by a senior lady that lives in the Incarnate Word Senior Living Center that is on the grounds of Incarnate Word College right down the street from me?
Shadow either sits on the lady's lap all day or watches the world go by sitting on a window seat. Brought so much joy to a lady that is pretty much stuck in her apartment for most of the time. She is the perfect home for Shadow and Shadow was the perfect cat for her.

Angie sent me some pics of Cleo and Rosie on their trip to Seattle. Here they are waiting in the airport before the big adventure. OK! We are on the plane ready to take off. What happened to Cleo? I am alone with Angie but I meet my new Mom tomorrow.

Simon is up to about 4 pounds now but still skinny as a rail. He's getting tall though. And he's like velcro when it comes to my lap. He's the first one up on the sofa when I sit down to watch TV. Trixie has accepted it (although sometimes she does beat him to my lap) and has claimed my right side. Unfortunately that's Toby's favorite spot so he's been a little left out lately. I'm trying to get him to use the left side - he's slowly getting the idea. They all 3 hop up on the bed in the morning once they hear me stirring around, for a petting session. It's about the only time they all 3 get along

Rosie and her brother, Maui.
A long way from that screaming hissing growling kitten in my backyard.

Got a call from Angie this evening. She trapped a mom and 3 of her kits. Not sure if there are anymore around.
Guess I need to get my bathroom ready as that is the only space left to put any cats. Mom will get spayed tomorrow and released back in her neighborhood.

Three 4 week old kits coming this afternoon at 2:00. They either go in the big bathroom or a closet because that is all the available space now.
Tabby Flashback to the bathroom kits when you were here. LOLOL

Talked to Angie this afternoon after she picked up a mom and 3 more kittens. We now have 14 kittens in foster just from the last 2 weeks. After the other kits went to Seattle we had none and then a kitten explosion.
She is thinking about advertising these guys in Seattle now when they are so young with the grab "Watch your kitten grow up" with pics of their kit every week. That way we can preadopt them and send them on their way as soon as they are 2 months and can be spayed/neuterd. The last group didn't go until they were 4 months old because we got off to such a late start with advertising them and then getting the travel arrangements made. We can make reservations in advance and get better plane fare rates.
This group are going to have fall/Halloween names as that is about the time they will be ready to go.

The Pac NW is filled with cat and dog people and there are lots of rescues and people taking care of feral cat colonies, etc., but for some reason apparently not a lot to adopt, so they'll find good homes. The DH and I are disagreeing slightly on our next cats, though won't contemplate anything until Jamie goes - she peed her furry pants when a neighbourhood cat came up to our front stoop when she was sitting there - she doesn't like other cats (unlike the tux Cassie, who used to hold court on the front stoop) but has never reacted like that before, so we'll hold off. He wants kittens, I want yearling cats or somewhat older as I understand they're a bit harder to rehome. Unfortunately, they'll have to be indoor only due to the coyotes now, so that's another consideration as one function of our cats is to do the ratting around here, and our two took care of everything - no need for poison, etc. Seaport environment - this whole area has been plagued by rats for years due to the shipping. But the coyotes are new (not native to this area) and we absolutely will not expose our cats to that kind of danger.

I have always wondered how kittens can be so stupid and adult cats can be so smart.

Angie just sent me a pic of 8 five day old kits who lost their mom to a racoon attack.
ETA: Momkat found. Not dead only a few scratches. She is back with kits.

Once they get big enough to leave momkat, Angie will divide them up into foster homes and her office.
Eight 6 week old kits in one place is not on anybody's wish list.
