Hi Everyone, I don't know if anyone remembers me, I never really posted a lot and I haven't been on this board for a long time. Reason was, I moved back to Germany last year and was busy with planning and then getting settled back in.
I had lived in the US for 16 years before I moved back home. And while it is nice being back and being around family, I do miss the States. And I miss Thirfting!!! There are no Savers and Goodwills over here, only smaller consignment stores. Plus, all stores besides food stores have been closed since last year November, due to Corona. I'm going half crazy not being able to thrift.
I took on a job in Home Health to get over my Thrifting Withdrawals. Also started a new Ebay ÍD for over here, but right now I am mostly selling home decor, since I was able to take on a huge load of inventory from my friend. Also dabbling in clothing on another account, just for fun, but it is hard to get inventory without having Thrift Stores.
Anyways... I just wanted to say Hi! Hope everyone is doing well!

Welcome back. I've never thought about what it would be like doing this from another country. Hope things open up and you can buy some stuff to sell.

Welcome back!
Now that you're in Germany, where do you sell to? Just the EU, all over, or select countries?

Thank you! Val, the home decor I sell all over Europe. The clothes on my other Id I sell worldwide. So far, I sold Oska pants to the states and a Tommy Hilfiger dress to Italy. Im just starting to get back into selling clothes, buying some stuff on eBay for resale. It’s an upside down world, nobody here cares about eskandar, was able to buy some dirt cheap. But there are other brands that I couldn’t give away in the states, like Michael Kors, for example, that do pretty well over here. I used to buy a lot on thred up and poshmark for resale, when was still in the US. Hoping to find a similar business model over here.

Willkommen zuruck, Gabi. (can't figure out how to do umlaut on lower case "u"). You can use: alt + 0252 for the lowercase u with umlaut....ü

Danke! Do you speak German! Thank you for the warm welcome back! I work in home health right now, to make some extra money. But it would be nice to be able to hang out here once in a while.

My Dad was from Leipzig, Mom from Yugoslavia and nurse in Germany during WWII. Grandparents on Mom's side also fluent in German so I grew up understanding what was being said but never really spoke German. It's been so many years since I've been around it, my German's so rusty it practically disintegrated. Since they all came to the US after WWII ended, I always joked I was "made in the USA".

Welcome back Gabi! It sure will be interesting to hear how eBay works from Germany. Do you guys have estate sales? So sorry for my late reply, Denise. I took on a job with a health care agency and been working so much, I didn't even have time to list anything on Ebay.
I am not sure about estate sales, most people just call a company to have everything taken away. I used to do well buying at flea markets back in the day, but because of corona, there are no flea markets, of course. Hopefully things will get back to nromal some day.

Well, Germany is obviously smarter than the USA, since our flea markets have never stopped. Stupid anti-maskers.
The estate sales are more strict and require masks and only leave a few people in at a time.
My daughter also does the online auctions...buys the stuff online, and then goes to pick it up....so less contact with others. She gets stuff a really cheap prices.

We have“EBay Ads“ over here, which is kind of like Craigslist, but run by eBay. I’ve bought some great stuff on there for good prices. Germany is very strict with corona, we’ve been in lockdown since November, only food and drugstores have been open. But of course we have some crazy people, too, that protest against masks and the lockdown.

We have more than "some" crazy people here. So much racism and hatred. You are safer there than we are. Enjoy!
