BOSTON – Four former eBay Inc. employees have agreed to plead guilty to their roles in a campaign of intimidation that included sending live spiders and cockroaches to the home of a Massachusetts couple who ran an online newsletter critical of the auction site, federal prosecutors said Wednesday.
“Four former employees of #eBay are scheduled to plead guilty on Oct. 8 at 2pm via zoom in federal court in #Boston,” according to a tweet from the official account of the U.S. attorney's office in Massachusetts. “The defendants are charged w/ participating in a cyberstalking campaign that targeted a Massachusetts couple.”
The four expected to plead guilty are Brian Gilbert, 51; Stephanie Popp, 32; Stephanie Stockwell, 26; and Veronica Zea, 26, according to The Boston Globe.
Popp was a senior manager of global intelligence at eBay; Gilbert was senior manager of special operations for eBay’s Global Security Team; Stockwell was manager of eBay’s Global Intelligence Center; and Zea was an eBay contractor who worked as an intelligence analyst in the Global Intelligence Center. Authorities say they were working at eBay at the time of the alleged harassment.

These people were really high-up there in the company. It's just unbelievable that they would hatch such an amateur and intimidating type revenge-plan against the couple. And to fly across country from California to Massachusetts to carry out a phase of their plan. It's just crazy.
I wonder just what the previous CEO knew about it, if indeed he did.

As usual, the instigator (let's call him Executive 1) is shielded. Wenig was absolutely complicit, there's direct evidence - these people need to turn evidence against Wenig so he can be nailed. I can't believe a 51-year-old went along with this childish, amateur game - midlife crisis?

LOL That was my first thought too when I saw their ages. Older guy who got caught up with the youngsters in their prank. Just giddy to be included.

Of course Wenig knew about it, he gave the directive of 'do whatever it takes' or 'take them down' or something to that effect. It was in all the original articles & complaint. But he got away with it b/c s'posedly there's no proof that he knew *what* they were gonna do. Yeah right. He's referred to as Executive #1 in the complaint. If you read the whole thing, it's even crazier than what was in the news. I'm sure it's linked in the first thread. Disgusting human beings!

I wish they'd find enough to indict Wenig and Wymer too.

The article is paywalled, but all I can say is that the wheels of justice grind slower than the wheels of the gods.

Even more disgusting than that...he used the #whatever it takes, which is what Wenig said to them, in his announcement of the new job. He's basically poking fun at the whole thing.
