I posted a Farberware saucepan last night and received a note shortly afterward that she would like to pick it up ALIVE (sure beats the alternative). She gave me her street address, which I knew wasn't from around here.
She lives in Brooklyn, NY and I am in PA. LOL

allikat "I am i the process of liquidating a restaurant and a hair salon using Facebook Marketplace." Holy DANG, that's some upper level selling!! I just part it out little at a time, right now I am selling off haircutting chairs and dryer chairs from the hair place and empty kegs and refrigerators from restaurant. I pick and choose what to sell and what to dispose of. Some of it just isn't worth the time. I did a woman's clothing chain store before the pandemic all the mannequins and fixtures, sold off 500 LED track lights. Whatever I can get my hands on I sell, I have been doing this for years used to use Craigslist until Facebook marketplace came along.

Listed boxes of DVDs on FB Marketplace with the shipping option. I've gotten so many stupid responses I want to punch the screen.
How much? Well, they are the same price as in the listing. How many in each box? Well, the listing says 30-34 in each box. What movies? As the listing says it's a random assortment. How many do you have? I have about 12 boxes, as noted in the listing. What condition? According to the listing, they range from Acceptable to Like New. Will you take $100 for all 12 boxes? No.
One guy just said $28? I said, yes, that's how much the listing says. He never responded again.
However, this morning I got some intelligent people (so far, I'm sure it will change). One lady wants 3 boxes, I made her a deal. One guy wants 2 boxes, I made him a deal. One guy wants everything I have left. I will make him a deal, too. I need them gone and I need the money.
I am kind of wanting them to pay through PayPal tho.

There is a whole lot of stupid on the marketplace, I forgot to say that in my initial reply. There is also an extreme amount of no shows that's why I don't wait for anyone...show up don't show up no skin off my back. I now report and block no shows so I don't have to repeatedly deal with them. Once you wade through all the stupid, there are a lot of good buyers to be found.

Well, every single one of them have gone silent. After giving very deep discount on multiple boxes, there is no response. They read the message, but no response. I asked them all if they were still interested, they read the message but don't respond. What a bunch of flakes.

Jeremy-I guess that the DVD people are just weird. Other than the NY guy who wanted to pick up my saucepan alive, I have normal inquiries. I hope that your luck improves. My daughter made several sales today of furniture, wheelbarrows, planters, etc. She is looking for a 2 car garage to rent for storage.

My husband and I have come to the conclusion people like to negotiate a deal for the thrill of it and then don't care about following through. Talking to hear themselves talk is my husbands comment to me always. Sometimes people will message weeks later and ask if they can pick up their item...lolololol...like I held it for them. It is quite the crazy place. My lament is generally Stupid F*n People but enough come thru that I keep selling.

Got another 'is this available?' question to which I responded 'Yes, because every single person who asks if it's available only asks if it's available and then never responds again.' ... No response (although I wasn't surprised).
I actually took shipping off and said forget it. Not worth my time to respond to multiple people who have no interest in the item in the first place.

Yeah-they are nuts. I have Rubbermaid storage containers listed for $20. And a guy messaged me...20. Uh yeah.
And a lady asked my address-she is in Fl.

Marketplace is annoying. I have sold a few things. Sold the old Weathertech floor mats for my RAV last weekend. Took about 6 weeks. Too many chain yankers on it. I just block them.

Well, this is neat. On Marketplace we can choose 20 places to share our stuff to, which is all of my local fleas, the nat'l Marketplace site...and as of today the top category is called "Marketplace, OfferUp, Letgo, Craigs List".
So I guess that my stuff is visible on all of those?
And zero selling fees through the end of Dec.

Marketplace has been booming; second to eBay in sales for me.
But last night it broke. Good thing that I am used to eBay doing this to us.
I can only list so far on my desktop, then I have to save the listing to draft and finish it on my cell....if I can find the listing.
Talk about a feeble CS.

My friend works at my fav local thrift shop and she said that the shop is going to start selling on Marketplace. That will be interesting. They were closed for 2 weeks since 2 workers had Covid. But they are back up and running with a lot of shoppers and way too many donations.
I haven't been there since March.

Yesterday and today I have been posting things for free on our Buy Nothing page.
I went through and decluttered all my kitchen stuff and those people have been pretty normal and pick up quickly. I mean if they are interested plain mugs, spoons or a square pan, they must need them and aren't going to ask a million questions.
I went through my bathroom and felt funny putting used lotions, shampoos, shower gel, and stuff up, but man, people go nuts over Bath & Body Works stuff. They are also the most annoying. I listed as I went along so there were several small lots. It was contactless pick-up and their name would be on the box, because there are several boxes. I kid you not, each girl picking up would be holding a box, ring my doorbell, hold it to the camera and ask if it's theirs. I have no idea who they are - they are the ones that know if their name is on the box, lol!

What a great idea! I haven't heard anything about that in my area.
We have a lot of free pantry boxes in my city, where people donate or take non-perishable food.

We have one of those free sites in my zip code through FB where you have to either live in the zip or have a place in the zip where items can be picked up. I have given away stuff but never picked anything up yet. The good things get grabbed pretty quick.

Kat-thanks so much! I just joined one in my own area that has 730 members. I guess it was on our local news in August and I never heard of it. Better than hauling it to GW.
Can't wait to get approved and see what people need. Gosh..I have so much.

I was a member of our local Buy Nothing group and it was literally the same 3 or 4 people trying to claim EVERYTHING that was posted. I gave away a lot of stuff and would refuse to give any to them. We also had a lot of people begging for stuff, including one person who I knew (through a friend) who would outright lie to get food and other stuff. I ended up quitting the group.

I checked our local BuyNothing (I had never heard of it before) and just in my area there are 1.1k members.

Sometimes I think that I have a brain. I keep seeing ads on Marketplace where people are selling pine cones and pine branches.
I have 5 HUGE pines along the side of my property and it is a total pain to pick up all of the pine cones and trim the low-hanging branches.
So I posted an ad for FREE cones, branches and pine needles for a "natural mulch". The people can come to pick up cones and cut the branches themselves. I have several inquiries already. Win-win for me!

I just read on the Facebook Marketplace Selling forum, that some sellers now have the option to have the $$ go into PayPal instead of their banks. When they click on "My Sales", the option is at the top.
But not for me, darn.
