Just wondering if anyone is selling well? My sales have completely stopped. I list and share daily but I don't spend alot of time. I'm probably going to stop selling there too. I've stopped everywhere else already as it was just a time suck and I refuse to pay for a third party service.
So just wondering if anyone is actually doing well over there? From what I see on SM it seems to be dying like all the other sites. Catering to the top tiered or probably the sellers that buy their wholesale stuff.
Figure I ask here before I delete my account.

My last sale there was on Jan 11. I sold 2 things the week before that. Nothing since then. I try to share and follow at least some every day. My sales there seem to come in spurts...nothing for a few weeks then I'll sell 2 - 4 things in one day. I am getting totally bored with all the sharing and following and flipping lowballers!

I have two things to ship tomorrow, but that's an anomaly. It is a lot of work to eke out a sale there, but I am not giving up yet since I am determined to get my stuff sold this year. I am discounting the heck out of stuff, and it's easy to do on PM when there are likers. I started comparing my listings on PM and ebay today so I can double check that I have everything cross-referenced so I don't miss taking down a listing when something sells. I thought while I was at it I would compare the prices I have on each site, and a few of them have really big differences--like $69.99 versus $30. I keep lowering it on PM because there are likers, but no one bites and I end up lowering it again.

My last sale was January 4th. I'm going to take some time away from Posh and probably fold by the end of February, if not sooner.
I'm really trying to cut out distractions both professionally and personally.
Thanks for your input guys! I see it's not just me.

Why not open a Shopify store and use one of the multi lister products to automatically cross post to various sites? It seems like it would be a lot easier than all the crap one has to do on Posh.

I have regular sales on Posh, but I'll probably slow down there as summer approaches as I seldom have enough running to bundle for light summer stuff. I sell a fair amount of vintage and my oddball items. I don't invest anything in the site save for time as everything i have running is either stuff I haven't been able to sell elsewhere, or that I double listed thinking it would do better on Poshmark. Some brands sit on eBay collecting watchers but sell in a few days on Poshmark. It's a time suck but I listen to audio books and try to limit the amount of time that I use a cell.
Winter seems to be drawing to a close there.

I have trouble devoting time to eBay as it is. I can’t see taking on multiple venues and trying to keep up with it, even if the listing is done for you. I had a full day of eBay today but won’t have another full day until next Monday. When I get a couple days straight to work on it, I’m going to ruthlessly cull as much as I can to send off to Thredup. I looked at a condo for sale yesterday, and it met a lot of the requirements I would have if I had a list of requirements pulled together, but the thought of moving is overwhelming to me. A friend had seen it for sale and was really rooting for me to go for it, but I have to work down all this inventory first. It’s already under contract as condos move fast here, so that takes the temptation away thankfully.

somany - weigh the value of your time and your quality of life against all of that stuff when you consider purging it. I haven't bothered with ThredUp since I got all of $20 for a big bag of stuff, but I AM packing up all my summer stuff that's just been sitting there for two summers and shipping it in because I'm SO tired of looking at it. I'm also getting rid of a lot of 'average' vintage - I have about 10-15 spectacular pieces left which I'm keeping, but the rest has to go - it's just weighing me down and making it tough to work on our house. I also noticed that it weighs down my mind, as well - crowds it, so to speak, so it's tough to make plans.

My eBay sales have been really bad for a week. But I do have 3 to ship from eBay tomorrow. On Posh I have 2!!! One of which is the best sale that I have ever made....a $350 gold necklace. Last week I had more sales on Mercari than eBay.
I am cross-posting on 7 sites now in desperation.
Posh definitely is a time-suck, since I try my best to share and follow all who share and follow me on a daily basis. But I do that during my meals, so that it doesn't take away from my computer-listing time.

(As well intentioned as my friend is, she puts added pressure not understanding how much time this stuff takes.) I have really been talking to myself to convince myself it's OK to let the stuff go at bargain prices. I have 700 items listed (or sitting in my unsold for right now) and maybe 800 items not listed. I tell myself $10 for 700 items is $7000 and that I can live with that as I am getting back what I paid for it. But then I go and counter a $20 offer with a $25 offer, and she declines. Why, oh why did I counter?!!! I will have to stay tough when I start culling. Maybe I should have my friend come over to keep me on track haha. I made a small foray into my ebay room today, and the amount of winter stuff I didn't get listed is depressing. I didn't realize I have as much as I do. I basically haven't listed much of anything since before Thanksgiving. (I went out of town 4 times for 3-4 days at a time and then with all the holiday stuff here, I just couldn't get to it.) So a lot of winter stuff will stick around until the fall because sending it to thredup now doesn't make any sense since they only keep things listed for at the most 90 days.

Why do you have to devote "full days" to eBay? If you're like me and wait for a full day to devote to eBay (or anything else), nothing will get done. I don't even do my bookkeeping a full day anymore. I've found that assigning less hours to each but on more days works better for me, and still gives me time to do outside things and have a life.
Try batching. Take pictures in a batch size that you can do in 3 hours, max (or whatever time you want to allot, but not all day). Then take another partial day and measure those photographed items, as many as you can in your alloted time. Then take an hour a day to list whatever you can, until you're out of measured/photo'd items. Repeat the procedure.
As for inventory, set aside a few days to a week to deal with it.
Last fall, when I pulled out the fall/winter inventory and bundled up the spring/summer, I did something different. I sorted out the spring/summer by listing month. Late Jan - long sleeve, mid wt but in brighter colors or florals. Those boxes were labeled spring/late Jan. Other boxes were labeled Feb - 3/4 and long sleeve, spring colors/florals, cotton sweaters. Mar-Apr were regular spring/early summer, Apr or May - sleeveless and sheer. It took me a little longer to bundle it up but it was worth it. I just pulled the Jan boxes and now have some good transition stuff to list. When I packed up the fall/winter last week, I did the same thing. Labeled boxes by what I thought were best listing months. Heavy stuff, late Oct-early Nov. Holiday-Nov. Fall colors but lighter weight-late Aug/early Sept. Bundle yours by whatever listing order works for you.
Once it's under control, it's not nearly as overwhelming, and I have almost as much inventory on hand as you do.

I actually have had my inventory marked like that in the past--July, September, etc. At that time I was still bringing more inventory in so I still didn't get to it. I pretty much kept up with the stuff I bought last year but didn't get to much beyond what I was buying, even though I had scaled way back on shopping. I have stopped all shopping now. Last time I bought anything was in November, and that was less than 5 things. I have found that I do better saying I am going to list 5 things (or whatever) and actually choosing 5 specific things to work on. When I take too many pictures at once, I tend to lose control of what's ready to list.
Also, when I say a full day, a full day is not what it used to be. I have a lot of back pain from arthritis, stenosis, and a [small] disc problem going on. I am very stiff a lot of the time and can't straighten up all the way. I have had stiffness and pain off an on for a lot of years, but I feel like I have aged 10 years or so in the last year, even though I still have times where I feel just fine. I have truly made the mental decision to get out of the business; getting it done is another story, but I need the time and mental energy freed up in order to address the physical issues (it's got to be an on-going, dedicated approach to keep the pain at bay).

Ouch! I'm sorry to hear that about your health, somany. That does make a difference.
Have you thought of selling bundles here like Mup did? Or on craigslist, for new sellers wanting inventory? Or in FB groups?

Thanks. It has changed my outlook drastically.
My game plan is to ebay the Dillards stuff I have and send the rest off to TU. If you remember, I offered stuff for the cost of shipping to boardies a couple of years ago when I had started shopping Dillards. I let go of a lot of my thrifted stuff then, but then I started thrifting again (and sourcing on ebay), looking for stuff to send off to Thredup without ever ebaying it. That was before they changed their payout structure and then when they changed their payout structure, the extra sale discounts were really cutting into what you could make so I stopped shopping and stopped shipping stuff to them. Now, I will just take whatever I can get for it from them. I just want to send it off as the seasons begin in order to have the best chance for it to sell.

When Humpty did her 99c sale she sent about 700 items to auction all starting at 99c plus shipping. Some things went for 99c and it hurt to see things she paid up for go for much less. She also had the majority of items sell for for more than their previous fixed price. She profited about $6000.00 from that sale even though many items didn't sell. (She packed up her unsolds and shipped them to me. 🤣) If she did it again (which she probably won’t since she’s changed her strategy) she would do a different price point like 8.99 and free shipping. The combined shipping questions about did her in and slowed down shipping. It was a lot of work, but fast money. If you are up to it, it might be something to consider since you have the quantity and quality to be successful with it.
ETA I just realized this was a Poshmark discussion. Oops.

One can do reseller/mystery lots on Posh, though. As for time apportionment, somany, since you have physical challenges, I would not even bother waiting for 'full days' however long they are, but just break things up into five items a day - it's amazing how fast you can knock a project on the head taking it in bite-sized chunks. Don't look at all the bins or whatever, just those five items.

I do work some on most days. I've worked a couple of hours this evening, but that has been getting out offers on ebay and posh and sharing my closet and others' items on posh. Since most of my sales are coming from offers, I don't know that I can give it up. I did just put all my listings on promotion on ebay but only at 2%. I also changed over to managed payments. I have only had one sale for $10 plus shipping since I did those two things. But I have sold a couple more things on Posh since this thread started.

The offers and promotions should help and I definitely wouldn't give up doing the offers if they work - that's selling, too, and getting the stuff out of there. I don't think managed payments does anything but it's a good time to switch over since it's the beginning of a new year, since we're all going there anyway. I found two big bins of inventory I didn't realise I had (they got shoved behind the omnipresent home reno scraps and sports equipment). I kind of groaned, but I really need the money for vet bills and my sales have been down because I've run out seasonal stuff without much to list, so I was also glad to see it, too (I'm getting so burnt out on this stuff and it's hard to get me to go out thrifting anymore right now). I'm kind of frantic to pay off vet bills so I started chugging through that stuff - I figured 8-10 items a day, prep, photo and list. So I got through them in four days but...guess what, I ended up neglecting Posh save for one pair of boots I listed (which sold right away?!) so sales there are down. It's really a juggling act.

I didn't do anything on Posh all week and I can't say I miss it. I'm probably just going to give it up. I got tons of new followers and likes but only one lowball offer and no sales. But that's what will work for me. Everyone needs to do what works for them. I'm kind of scaling back on Ebay too. But like a few of you guys that seem to be doing the same thing, that is a process. Regardless I wish everyone has lots of sales wherever you sell!

Posh is pretty darned slow for me, too, right now, and so is eBay. The biggest problem I have is not enough items running - I don't even have 200 on eBay anymore and about 170 of those double listed on Posh. And it's getting into that 'odd' time of year (just before transitional).

Oops, for ebay not Posh.

Poshmark has been pretty much a flop for me. I have decided it is going to be where I list stuff that does not sell on ebay with a few good items to bring some traffic. I do not want to increase the number of items I list on ebay so if I move things around maybe it will help. Poshmark just takes to much work and is way to social for me.

I don’t get into the social part of it. When I hosted a few parties last summer there was a lot of “Please look at my closet” direct shares, but typically I correspond about the same as in eBay. Lately I have just been doing about 10 self shares and 10 community shares a day. I haven’t listed anything new for a while. My sales aren’t up or down. I get maybe 5 or 6 sales a week. That’s not saying much since my items are sold at their rock bottom discount after all the closet clear outs. (I don’t relist for higher, I just want them gone by that point) I transfer about $30-$50 week which isn’t much but is more than Thred-Up would give me. The pictures and listings are already done so recouping something and giving a buyer a screaming deal is fine with me.

I'll get 2 - 4 sales over a 2 day period, then zip for 7 - 10 days. I'll get quite a few "waste-my-time" offers for $5 or so, mostly from newbies which I'll counter at 10% off or just decline. With as slow as my Ebay sales are right now, I'll take just about anything I can get.
kat What exactly are Community shares? If I go to my news section and I see someone has shared some of my items, I'll share some of theirs back. Is that considered community sharing?

I'm not social at all except for sharing (community and self) and answering questions. Once in a blue moon I'll comment on something, but that's pretty rare.

Not kat, but I will answer. Yes, those are community shares. When you look at your closet, you see stats for your number of listings, shares, followers and following. The number of shares are the community shares you have done. You do not get credit for sharing your own items there. I often look at the number of shares someone does when sharing theirs to determine how many of theirs I will share. Tit for tat and all that. But since you are sharing those who have shared yours, you are already doing that. I go to the parties and pick ones to share from there. I am looking to build my number of followers so when I sharing my own, they are shared with as many as possible. I don't know that it makes a difference in the long run or not. I am getting more sales but I have more listings, which means more time sharing. It's still slower than ebay, though.

I’ll leave a “super cute” type comment on yours and other friends things occasionally when I think it deserves more attention than it seems to be getting. 🤣 I like don’t like to Heart it because I rarely look at the likers when I do a discount and hate to have someone do a discount when I have no desire to buy for myself.

It's been a year and sales still stink on Poshmark. I can't believe this post is a year old. Anyway I guess it's time for me to move on. I spend anywhere from 1 to 3 hours most days on Poshmark and have not sold anything in two weeks. In addition to that overall sales there are like all the other sites, very sporadic.
It's odd but after I delete my Poshmark account I will just be on Ebay. I don't sell on any other sites anymore because they all were very sporadic and not worth any time.
I was thinking about Amazon but not sure I have the right inventory. Anyone else quit Poshmark since I posted last year?
