Decided it was a good time to get rid of my old Toshiba that has been running like a dog since I installed Windows 10. I kept eyeing up laptops and finally pulled the plug. I was going to go to Microcenter but googled around. Bought a Lenovo Ideapad this evening. I went up to Office Max/Depot (closer than Micro) to look at it today and of course they didn't have one on display but showed they had one in stock. They had a model down on display. I don't use mine much (use my iPad) but there are times I want to use a laptop, especially in the evening after work. I looked at the store at the Dell and had previously looked at the Asus. This seemed like a good deal to me. We shall see: www.officedepot.com/a/products/3913847/Lenovo-IdeaPad-S340-Laptop-156-Screen/Costco had one but it was the regular hard drive. Been reading the one I bought has a better drive. I also bought a Lenovo USB DVR drive too from Amazon.

Not bad at all. Quad-core with 8 GB of RAM should be plenty fast. And the SSD (solid state drive) is WAY faster than normal drive. They are smaller, so if you need a lot of room for pics, you could get an external HD. You can pick up a TB external drive for like $40.
Enjoy it!

Thanks. The screen is not the best that I could guess but it will do. I can’t see spending much more for something that I won’t use daily.
Waiting for shipment confirmation though.

Nice!
I bought a cheap 14" chromebook about 2 weeks ago. It's really fast! My laptop is working fine and has a nice 17" screen but it's really too heavy to use at conferences, traveling, etc. I wanted something light I could use in those situations. Since I didn't need a full blown laptop, the cheap chromebook was the better deal for me.

Flash drives are pretty cheap and make good small storage - I have a couple of 64 GB USB 3 drives I haven't used yet since I got a 1 TB external drive (I have a LOT of files to copy). I love the portability of the little flash drives, though.

Most places don't ship as quickly as eBay sellers - it takes a long time even for most Amazon stuff to ship to me!

No kidding. Most retailer sites I've bought from this year tend to take 3-5 days to process before they send you shipment info, then add the shipping time on top of that. My eBay purchases shipped much faster. There was one exception, something I ordered last week from HSN that arrived super fast, like 3-4 days total, from payment to delivery

I did an online chat with Depot. They said it was coming Friday so I called them. They must have received my message loud and clear or they lied to me about it coming Friday.Just got a message from UPS that it is coming tomorrow.
Just hoping I am home when it arrives.

If you have a My Choice account with UPS, you can change the delivery date. If you have the free account, they'll charge you $5. If you have a paid account, the change is free. I've changed several deliveries with my free account. You can do it online.

UPS sent me a delivery notification later this evening. So either Depot was lying about shipping or they decided to overnight it to me. Their warehouse apparently is in Bristol PA. Just have to hope it arrives before I leave for work. Showing arrival between 11 and 3.

That's not good Lenovo said to take it back. I am headed to the store after it resets for the second time. I would just take it back but it has my name, etc in the software. Yep. Went back to normal, charged overnight and acting up again. Going to see how it goes today. I will call Lenovo later. I think it needs the battery pulled out and then restarted but i don’t want to do that. The battery is under the whole bottom(needs screws removed to take it off.
