Did anyone else get this email? I wonder if it is a good thing?
Heads UP, sellers! We’re launching a new feature soon that allows your items to be bid on for 12 hours before they’re officially listed on the site. What it means for you (our sellers):
Higher payouts and faster sell times!
You’ll have 12 hours to update the listing price of your items before they’re released for bids.
Once your items are released, there is a 12-hour window for bidding. During this time, you’ll be unable to adjust the price of your item. The price may be updated once the bidding window has closed if the item didn’t sell and it isn’t currently in someone else’s cart.
Payouts will be based on a percentage of the item’s final selling price, which means higher potential payouts!
You’ll be able to view an item’s bid status on your Bag Details page.

I got the email this morning and was surprised because I have never bought or sold there.
I don't get what they are proposing but maybe I just don't know their game.

The biggest advantage I see is that it can’t go in someone’s cart (not what it’s called but I don’t remember the correct terminology) and just sit there. I know they fixed that to a certain extent somehow, which I also don’t remember exactly. I think their buyers do watch for the newly listed stuff so an auction might get some interest but who knows. It will also be interesting to see where the prices start at for them. I had not sent a bag in in well over 6 months but sent one about two weeks ago, and guess what—it’s stuck in transit! I’ve had them lose two bags already. This one has not left Cincinnati according to the tracking. The others were lost at Thredup. I have another bag I’m getting ready to send. This is just stuff I don’t want to mess with listing. It won’t bring much.

After my last bag of 20 items netted $22 I gave up on Thredup - I can write that much off on my taxes without hassling with shipping and paying for the bag. I don't have the brands you guys who regularly sell there do, though.

Why does Thredup put a hold on something in a cart? Retailer sites and Ebay doesn't do that. It should be available until sold/paid for.

I agree but I got back more than one thing that had sat in a cart for the entire time it was up for sale. They did come up with something that was supposed to help but I’m not sure it did. I had set up a couple of my items to be notified when they became available but I never got notified because the person knew to go in before their time was up and remove and return to their cart, thereby starting the clock anew. Literally did it every day for 3 months.

That's ridiculous. It results in lost sales for Thredup. Not too bright a move on their part.
