Well I am glad we know what it was/is now. RIP little baby coon.
FTR: I absolutely ADORE raccoons. Yes they are little thieves and pitas but I just love them. I have bottle fed baby ones, had to sadly shoot unhealthy ones and one time...a story for another time and I don't want to take away from Simply's thread....got chased in a basement by a totally pissed off mama coon.
ANY wild animal has a hard life and any time I find a dead one I always hope like hell it didn't suffer.

I agree Harley. We feed our animal friends all summer. I hate it when they don't return the next Spring.

Not a fan of raccoons. They can be very mean. We had a couple get in our chicken coop and kill our hens and baby chicks.
Step FIL lost all of his turkey chicks the same year. He has a bigger raccoon problem than we do so he stopped raising chickens and turkeys.

I thought it was a racoon. Feel like I'm a bit of an expert as we trapped so many critters this last year. They are pretty to look at but that's about it. They destroyed a lot of Mike's feeders and suet holder. They are so adept at using those paws as hands it's amazing! We have a big pond so we have everything they like. I'm sure it's almost trapping time coming again now.
Glad you found out. Sorry it didn't make it. Your grandson will think that's pretty coold.
