I'm not sure how it works on there exactly but they have followers so wouldn't they see when they put stuff up? Plus they have great prices, my guess is they use Instagram or FB to advertise and link it to their store. They probably post on their main page when they get in a new batch of items and just direct everyone from there right to their Posh store. That way they don't have to mess with all the sharing on Posh. They may have a huge following on whatever site they are using to direct their customers to their Posh shop.

That makes sense - I'm pretty new there myself and not sure how different people get sales. I agree, the sharing is very time consuming. Too time consuming, actually.
It's just that it's none at all - 0. I've never seen anyone with 0 shares. But she does follow people.

The 0 is for community shares. She could very well share the heck out of her own stuff, she just doesn't share anyone elses.

I would love to find ways to cut back on all the sharing - it's really time consuming.

I'm beginning to think that people wait for the Closest Cleaning days.

On Posh, the original purpose and benefit of following and sharing with followers has morphed into nothing more than a numbers game.

Thing is, the more followers one has, the more eyes are on one's items.

I don't agree. I think too many on Posh are concerned about amassing large numbers of followers. I won't even buy there now because of all the crap that comes in on my feed. I want to follow those who offer what I want to buy, and have those who want to buy my stuff follow me. I don't want to look at other stuff I'm not interested in. I don't think buyers even look at most of what they share now- they just share to get numbers up.
Share/follow is an effective, direct marketing tool when it's used properly. Buyers follow a seller who sells what the buyer wants. Seller shares to buyers, knowing they are directly reaching interested buyers. Sellers can offer discounts, add ons, buy one get one, etc and it's being sent to buyers already interested in the sellers goods. Buyer actually looks at feed because buyer knows it has things the buyer likes to buy.
But on Posh, it's not being used that way. IMO it's a high school popularity game. Who can get the most number of followers? Sure, spam enough buyers and someone will buy. But because of the way it's being used on Posh, sellers have to do at least 4X the work they would normally do if share/follow was used correctly.

I'm pretty choosy as to what I share, and my Posh Picks on Pinterest are starting to get a bit of a following, but it's almost impossible for me to make sales if I don't keep my items in the feed - as @makinmagic said, one has to consistently share to make sales, and I probably reciprocate about 100 a day. I sold probably 50 items last month which was as much as I sold the two months previous since I started really seriously trying to sell on Poshmark, and I think it's due to consistent sharing and listing. Stuff that was just sitting on Etsy is selling on Poshmark. That said, I'd love to spend less time doing it. I don't watch the feed that much save to share from it - I follow things into people's closets, and I know I have people who follow me specifically for what I sell - I sell a surprising amount of unbranded items there.
If I share my closet 3 times a day (or at least parts of it) and share from the feed a couple of times a day for 10 minutes, the reciprocate those who share my items, I've decided that's about what I can handle. But people who follow me WANT to see my stuff. It's a numbers game but that's just social media selling, it seems - being selective to me is important, though.

chapeaunoir I just saw that you sold a Flax coat for $108!!! Wow, what an awesome sale! I'd never think Flax sells there at all.

I've sold two Flax pieces there - that coat was a really unusual one, though, and I think it caught someone's eye. I still haven't figured out what I have that sells there lol - I'm trying not to "shop for Posh" because I'm so lousy at gauging stuff like that so I just double list from eBay. It's like that St John jacket I sold earlier - maybe there's an older demographic coming on board?

It's like that St John jacket I sold earlier - maybe there's an older demographic coming on board? I have a very hard time figuring out what sells there too. I am doing very, very well there with Talbots, and it doesn't even have to be plus size. I sell pretty much anything and everything there randomly. Anthro, J. Jill, Chico's, Lululemon, J. Crew. Sometimes something just sells at full price for 100% more than it is listed for on ebay, and I will be in complete shock. Like a Ming Wang skirt ($55) and J. Peterman skirt ($39), both small sizes! At first I didn't list "mature" brands like Talbots and Eileen Fisher, but started and wasn't disappointed. I am working on cross posting 100% with ebay. I keep saying that, but I have lots of hope for Posh. Posh seems to be growing and growing, unlike ebay that's in permanent coma now (for me at least). I really hope to make it 70-80% of my business sometime by the end of 2019.

Someone had suggested not to list plus-sized items, but those are the first ones that I sold. So now I have listed more of them....no sales.
One thing about sharing is that I am able to see what is selling-brands that I never heard of.
Posh ads are really on our TV a lot, so that sure helps.

And Poshmark's search function is SO MUCH BETTER than Ebay's! That makes it much easier to shop there.

Watch your sales there. Posh is supposed to be collecting marketplace facilitator taxes and they aren't. This means you may hit the sales threshold on states that have both marketplace facilitator taxes AND economic nexus taxes.
