I've been waffling back & forth about whether to try listing on Poshmark or not; after reading posts here I think I'm gonna sign up tomorrow ... a new venue was one of my NY resolutions. Can I ask for free advice for a Posh noob? Any insights about things you learned that you wish someone had told you when you were just starting? Anything from choosing a name to sharing. Like do's, don'ts or don't bothers. I'm asking because I don't wanna make dumb mistakes that I can't undo, like on Facebook.
And they really take 50%? That's a sizable chunk; do you feel it's worth paying for what you get?
Thanks! I'm out today (playing D&D with DD's family... I'm a newb at that too!) so I'll check back later :-)

I'm still learning the ropes but I think Poshmarks's fee (someone correct me if I'm wrong) is $2.95 for items that sell under $15, and 20% for items that sell over $15. I like that it's so easy to list there, but there's a lot (IMHO) of maintenance...sharing, following, etc. If you do sign up, be sure to put your Posh ID on this thread Boardie ID's on Posh, so we can all share your listings too. Ask one of the mods to put it on the list on the first page of that thread.
Also, if you double list on Posh and Ebay, stay on top of things that sell on either place.

They take 20% which is still a sizeable sum but you don't have to worry about NPBs. Read the thread Chap posted and add your ID. Then just list and follow your little heart out

I also like the one price shipping for up to 5 lb - my coats are being pulled off eBay and Etsy and put on Poshmark, those which I'm not getting rid of.

I think that if you use someone's code, that you get a discount. I know Mercari does that.
Be prepared for ultra low ballers. I started out inflating my prices so I can go down in price, but they want reallllly low prices. So I price about the same as I do on eBay, taking into consideration that there won't be any of the eBay extra fees.
Most of my sales are not in bundles, and sometimes they just buy the item at my listed price.
The hardest thing for me is to remember not to use the eBay branded stuff for shipping!

Listing on Posh is so much simpler than Ebay - very streamlined, easy to do from your phone. That plus the fact that feedback isn't front and center, and they don't encourage returns, makes it well worth the 20% fee. The following/sharing social stuff takes awhile to get used to, but there are enough sellers from this board over there to help you through it. One of the best pieces of advice I got was from @fashionboulevard who said "Think of everyone over there as dingbat millennials. If it is 7 years old it is vintage. If it is bigger than a 12 it is plus size." Once you get yourself into that mindset it becomes much easier
Good luck!

I have a ton of white tissue paper left over from before I got the Ebay branded stuff, so I use that for Poshmark. If I have to use an Ebay box for Posh, I cover the logo with the shipping label.

I do use the eBay "Thank You" note cards, and just put a "thank you" sticker over the eBay logo.

Why not try it? You might be pleasantly surprised, as I was. There is no risk. Listing is very easy. The basics are: - share your own items several times a day. This bumps them to the top of search results. Best to do it from the computer, not the phone, it's much faster - select one big seller a day and follow all their followers that are displayed to you - once/twice a day go to your main feed and just share everything you see. I do it twice a day for 10 minutes each time. - when someone likes your item, send them an offer if you want to
That's it.

I wonder if that 2 minutes person meant 2 days but typing on one of those little phones?

I looked all over for "thank you" stickers that weren't transparent. I ended up finding some gold foil hearts and bows that work, along with some pastel banner ones that I write the buyers name on, personal touch and all that jazz.

I had some post cards made and include those, but just designed some hang tags. They're being printed up and I'll use those.

I just wrap in tissue, seal with a green "thank you" sticker, slide it in a ziploc and then the mailer. I got one one with was in a mesh bag tied with a ribbon. It felt like a gift. I guess i need to come up with something it up. Maybe curling ribbon and thank you cards?

What I provide is a professional packing job (tissue inside the item to soften any wrinkles and protect from hardware, buttons, etc.), flip-top clear bag and I do include a 'thank you' post card, and I try to ship next day. That's it - I just don't have time for much more. I think the people who do all the doo-dads just enjoy it, but I don't think it's necessary, people seem to appreciate a good packing job and prompt delivery.

I have the curling ribbon, but don't bother to curl it. I just tie it into a bow. Roll of 4 colors at $ store = $1.

Ugh, I suck at wrapping. Sometimes when the stars align, I wrap in pretty red tissue paper and slap a gold heart shaped Thank You sticker on it. When I started I used to handwrite a thank you note and include a tiny gift, but that got tiring VERY fast for me. I generally try to minimize my expenses. So I just put it into plastic bag (the type you put your produce in at the grocery store) and then in Priority Tyvek.

Etsy sellers often do all the special wrapping; I don't have patience for it and sending gifts seems like we're priming buyers to want freebies. I wrap textiles in plain white tissue paper, seal my item safely in a ziploc bag and include a heartfelt handwritten 'thank you' on the packing slip. I guess I could twirl some ribbon around the tissue wrapped thingie before putting it in the ziploc but I... oops! I was gonna make a 'it's never happened' kinda claim but my superstitious fingers won't allow me to type it lol :-0
Tuesday night I was standing in a checkout line chatting with someone and she just started gushing about what a wonderful place Poshmark is to sell and buy! So yeah, I'm sold. We're outta town again today (more fun farm stuff; we've gotta figure out where Dad put the septic tank) but I've been browsing Posh and will have a closet opened soon. I've been agonizing over a name but I think I'm just gonna use Retromonde and not cross-list clothing. I noticed some here used the same name and others used a different one. Any special reasons? Pros or cons? Thanks for any and all input!

Some people suggested using a different name so as not to be associated with eBay. But if I do a search for an item, I often see the same listing on both sites that are obviously by the same person. And please post your closet name on the list so that we can all share your stuff.

I wonder if that 2 minutes person meant 2 days but typing on one of those little phones? Poshmark wouldn't show it delivered until the PO scanned it. Either the carrier dropped it at the neighbor's and it took him 2 days to bring it over (2 days) or he scanned it before getting out of his truck, millenial dingbat's phone chirped and she ran to the door in breathless anticipation while carrier made his way up the driveway or along a row of apartments/townhomes/rowhomes (2 minutes). My vote is second scenario.
