Brace yourselves, I'm gonna be needy today
Selling more of my friend's mother's jewelry, would appreciate any help with descriptions, KWs, dates, etc.
Amber earrings, ring and pin (earrings and pin are stamped 925):

I am no help at all but I just wanted to say, that the pieces are gorgeous, especially the ring. What a statement it makes.

Next up is this (broken) necklace:
There's a stamp on the end ring -- looks like "82" ??

The ring is unmarked but I was able to polish it with a silver cloth - it's very lustrous now. Does this mean it's real silver?
Should I polish the other pieces or leave them as-is?

I would leave everything as is, some people (like myself) like patina. I do know that amber ranges from opaque ivory colour to blue. I have nothing else to offer save to say I was married in the amber necklace that my DH gave me a few years previously. It came from Poland (his heritage country).
That ring is fabulous! To be worn over gloves, of course!

The 82 is a Russian silver hallmark indicating purity (925-1000.com has a lot of great info on silver jewelry) and most contemporary amber jewelry comes from Russia. It all looks pretty good but if you are worried about authenticity you can give the pieces the old static or hot needle test.

What's the static test?

Arhn- It's not the most reliable test but real amber will hold a static charge. So, rub it on a sweater or carpet and see if it will pick up a tissue or some pieces of confetti or the like.
