I left a thread over with the Critters on what I bought today. Still didn't get the lantana at Lowes because the truck hadn't come in yet. When I was mildly bitchin' about them not being there, the manager said "Well, it is the first day of the sale". What? ? Yes, it is the first day of the sale so why isn't the stuff here?

I bought 2 sundresses, I am wishing and hoping for nice weather. First, though, I need to shave the legs (I have neglected them all winter) and maybe tan a little I am as white as a Safeway egg right now.

Did it get cold again up there Val? We have had cooler weather down here and rain for a few days. But it's supposed to be in the 80's by Monday so maybe it will head up your way after that. I'm going to Lowes on Sat for plants, they had darn well better have some or I am going to have a hissy fit in the garden dept.

First, though, I need to shave the legs (I have neglected them all winter) and maybe tan a little I am as white as a Safeway egg right now. This stuff works really well as a moisturizer on legs and the tanning looks very natural, IMO. I've used it all summer for the past few years. I just put it on every other day in season right after I shower. www.ulta.com/ulta/browse/productDetail.jsp?productId=xlsImpprod2960015&categoryId=cat90022+cat110042

I bought 2 sundresses, I am wishing and hoping for nice weather. First, though, I need to shave the legs (I have neglected them all winter) and maybe tan a little I am as white as a Safeway egg right now. That's why I bought maxi's. No leg shows, ergo, no shaving. I bought two last year at Catherine's that I love, and the quality is great. Well, darn if they didn't pop same style up on the website this year in new prints. So I bought one. Waffling on another color. Bought cute one from Avenue too. Hopefully the length stated in the listing is correct and I won't need to wear the skyhigh wedges this year. I bought a bunch last year, different styles, and finally figured out what styles I can wear. I don't get WHY the PLUS SIZE retailers won't carry them in the stores (here), but they don't. The ones I didn't like I'll pop up on eBay in a couple of weeks.

I have a rule that if I buy new stuff for me, I have to pull some thing from my closet to put on eBay. Fortunately I'm pulling several maxis from last summer so I'm ahead. Which is good, because they're just starting to hit the retailer websites.

Another vote for the Jergens Natural Glow.
But my legs are soooo pale I use the Fair/Medium shade.
It's great stuff and really does look natural.
I just started using it for the season cause I need to go capri shopping soon and the sight of dead fish belly white legs is really disturbing.

Title was SO misleading...I cannot get over my disappointment at what I thought this thread was going to be about.

I wanna see pics too! I love maxi dresses. I'd love them more if I wasn't so short.
Fashion, I love the forsythia behind you, very Spring-like.

I am too short to wear them. I look like a fat fireplug.

I like the black & white one too. The flower one looks comfy though! Actually, they both look comfy.

Love both of the dresses too! Joining Kritter and Shirley on the too-short-for-maxis bench.
I was bad too. I saw Terri's recommendation for the Jergens Natural Glow and clicked the link to read up on it. I bought both the lotion and the foam, some hair dye, and Rita Hazen gray root concealer.

How short are you guys? I'm only 5'4-1/2" myself.

I'm 5' 1" & I can't wear them, except maybe at the hot springs, where it's ok to have it look like a beach dress. They just hang to the ground (or with a train lol) on me.

Hmmm I'm 5'4" as well. I have to admit I haven't even tried a maxi since I was in my twenties.

You might be surprised (well, maybe not you Zoe, 5'1" is kinda short). I try to buy 52"-55" length, any longer than 55" and I either have to hem or wear really high heels. Took me forever and a bunch of returns to figure out the styles I can wear, but now I love them! I need empire waist, tiered but not overly full (first picture) or slightly a-line (hopefully what the b/w one will be). Can't wear anthing with a regular waist, column style, or wrap. Some manufacturers are making petite length now too.

Okay, val, I was the one that started the maxi thread last year. Waaah! I don't get credit for anything!
My point in starting it was that I was looking for casual-type dresses and it seemed that the vast majority of them at the designer places I shop (i.e. TJ Maxx and Marshall's), when I can't find something at the thrift store, were maxi dresses.
I'm 56 and I felt that I might look silly wearing something "trendy" like that, so I came to the board looking for opinions. EVERYONE told me that age didn't matter and that either they or their mothers of the same age looked great in them. Never did buy one. Maybe this summer.
