Good Sunday Morning!
I think our National Day person may have borrowed some from the Southern Hemisphere not realizing the whole opposite seasons thing. Sangria isn't what comes to mind during Christmas week. More in the mood for mulled cider or Bailey's and coffee myself.
I wasn't never born yet on this day in 1957, so I don't have any personal recollection of the day Elvis was drafted. I'm not a big Elvis fan, since he was a bit before my time. DH went to his show in Las Vegas back in the day.
Made some major headway in the reorganization task I started yesterday. The racing corner is cleared of my stuff, now I just have to clear out the stuff left over from when my kids still lived here. There's a bunch of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and gaming debris that none of them took along when they moved out. Going to gather it all up and move it to the first floor where they can look it over when they're here for Christmas and make a final take it or donate decision. Filled two bags to take to Savers with old, unlisted Ebay inventory that just isn't worth my time.
Hoping to finish up that project as well as take care of some other miscellaneous ones today after we get back from church and breakfast.
What are you up to?

I could actually go for some Sangria. There are some really good recipes out there.
I'm going to brave the crazy and head to the mall today. I went the other day and there were no Harry and David pears. They have them in stock now, so....it's either the mall or the outlet stores. Both will have crazy traffic and cars driving around stalking people walking to their car for the parking.

Good Sunday Morning!...now I just have to clear out the stuff left over from when my kids still lived here. There's a bunch of Guitar Hero, Rock Band and gaming debris that none of them took along when they moved out. Going to gather it all up and move it to the first floor where they can look it over when they're here for Christmas and make a final take it or donate decision... I'll be doing sort of the same thing during the next few weeks when DD comes home from school (tomorrow night) and DS is home for Christmas vacation. We have a sunroom which used to be their playroom but has since morphed in the storage room. There are games and other assorted crap that they've long abandoned, which I'm sure some of which they'll want to keep. DD is like DH in that they never want to get rid of anything. So I'm gonna tell her she can keep what she wants, but it will have to be moved into her room - which is already chock full of 'stuff' she won't let go of. At least it will be out of sight and I can make other plans for the sunroom. It's much too valuable real estate to be used as storage.
Not really an Elvis fan since he was before my time as well. I do remember my mother's sister being obsessed with him. I thought that was funny when I was younger for an adult to be ga-ga over a celebrity.
Have to go into work today, in a few minutes actually, because one of my staff conveniently 'couldn't make it in'. It's one of our busiest days of the year and I can't leave the other girls short staffed. I'm not happy about it, but, well, what can I do. Haven't had a free Sunday all month, and that's the day of the week I take eBay photo's and start listing. Don't know when I'll have a chance to jump back into the eBay pool.
Well have a good Sunday everyone!

I thought Elvis was great when I was a little girl but had no problem throwing him over for the Beatles who literally ruled during all my teen years. It's amazing how tuned in we are as kids/teens, how we all know en masse when something that defines us is happening, right from day one. It was like aliens beamed the message when "I Want To Hold Your Hand" came over the airwaves, it was so life changing. I can remember where I was when I first heard it, like where I was when Kennedy was shot. Freaky and, of course, groovy all at the same time.

Happy Sunday. And the day is living up to its name. The sun is shining brightly and the wind died down.
Terri, I'm with you. Someone got a southern hemisphere calendar or website because these days don't make sense in the cold north. Sangria? Yes, if it's 80 degrees.
Never cared for Elvis or his impersonators. When I was growing up my elder siblings were into Motown. Then, of course, The Beatles arrived and that was it for me. I remember them appearing on Ed Sullivan, the trading cards that came with bubblegum and all the other Beatles stuff. I am forever a fan. But I will say that Elvis seemed to be a good guy in person. Nephew Joe met him when he lived in Vegas.
Kritter was on my mind last night. I was watching Create and Joseph Rosendo's Travelscope came on. He was visiting San Antonio for their holiday celebrations. He was invited to a family's home to participate in making tamales. And I had to laugh when he showed the blessing of the animals. He said his kitties were participating via pictures on his phone.
Hope everyone has a wonderful day. Hugs and healing vibes to all in need.

I like Sangria, but in the summertime. It's pretty much a staple around here for BBQs and get togethers.
I liked Elvis growing up, one of my brothers was a huge fan and even styled his hair in a quiff like his. Then like Frakin when the Beatles got going they became my music obsession.
Doing almost nothing but house stuff today. My cleaner is in and giving the place a going over from top to bottom. Cats aren't too happy and are moving from room to room to get away from the dusters and the vacuum. I keep telling them if they weren't so messy we wouldn't have to do this, but they are ignoring me. I'm having some surgery tomorrow and wanted everything orderly when I get back home so I don't have to fuss with anything. Hopefully they won't go on a holy running terror and mess things up too fast.
Hope everyone has a great Sunday!

We do a lot of the Blessing of the Animals down here because they need all the help they can get.
Shirley, is it out patient surgery or are you going to have to stay in the hospital?

If anyone has a Sprouts grocery nearby, they have their own label panettone and it's really good. Fresh bread texture, not dry like others I've bought elsewhere. The single serve (3.5 oz) is e on sale for $0.99. I bought one last night to try it (yum, I should have made French toast with it). I think I'm going back today and get some more, and maybe some honey butter for little gift baskets for one of my offices. I just need little rememberance type gifts and that with honey butter and some chocolates would work. Cute little packaging.

A quick check-in before I have to tackle kitchen cleanup duties... No Elvis or Sangria for me! Beatles were totally IT for me from the moment I laid eyes on them for their first Ed Sullivan Show appearance. With my younger sister, it was always Beatles vs Monkees (yuck). Years later, my cousin and me would go head-to-head arguing over who was better or more popular... Elvis or the Beatles. He drove me nuts watching Elvis movies on black & white TV. Oh, and I also had a large collection of Beatles cards and lost them all when Mommie Dearest laid claim to almost all my earthly possessions. Evil witch... John Lennon was my #1 idol. Last night SO informed me there was a 2-hr tribute to John Lennon on TV. For some reason, I just couldn't bring myself to watch it. Two B&B sales for today. At least that's one positive for today! Those look yummy Val, too bad we don't have a Sprouts down here. I do go to the one in El Paso when I'm down there, it's a great store. Kritter it's in-patient surgery, hopefully I can come home on Tuesday afternoon but Wed at the latest. I don't want to miss going out for Chinese food on Christmas if I can help it. ETA: You better post pics of the mystery kitten today so I get to see them.

Shirley, wishing you a very successful surgery. You'll be missed or maybe you can post from the hospital with your smartphone.

And I had plenty to trade because my grandparents had a general store and every spare nickel or dime I got was spent on Beatles cards!

Happy Sunday! Count me in with the Beatles fans. I liked Ringo, had a 'thing' for drummers!!! I only ever liked 2 Elvis songs. Not a fan of Sangria either.
Shirley, wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery.
DH went Christmas shopping and I am packaging up 4 things to ship.
Hope everyone has a great day!

I remember seeing Elvis when I was 9 or 10 years old. My mom made me a little 70's short silver go-go type dress with a cat face of blue rhinestones on it. We were so far back & it was floor seating, so I couldn't see anything. I don't remember much except screaming at people to sit down. I screamed so loud, the guy in front of me turned around & said something, but hey, he was an 'old guy' & I probably disabled his hearing with my 10 year old lungs LOL.
Good luck Shirley with your surgery & your healing!!!

Hope all goes well Shirley!!! Who am I going to play Avatar war with??? You'd better take your smartphone with you!!!
I can't have alcohol with chemo, but red wine with fruit sounds tasty.
Wasn't really into Elvis since I liked Fabian better.....bad choice I guess. Also was into the Beatles and Paul was my very fav!
Packed up 3 sales, and just sold a pair of boots. So it looks like I might be going out to a smaller area PO to drop off the packages. I want to save my carrier pick-ups for when it snows. My carrier seems to have bad knees and I don't want to push it.
Football game in 2 hours, so promise to work on taxes then.

I didn't care for Elvis or the Beatles. Loved the Monkees, though - the show. Didn't care to see them in concert but the show was a hoot. I did like most of Elvis' movies. They were funny too.

I have a Beatles Yellow Submarine tie (official licensed). Hmnn. Guess I should get that tie store up and going. All the gift bags are ready. It's been a long time since I had folks to shop for (more than 2 anyway) and this is a blast. Girls at my tax office get bags with assorted goodies like nail polish, nail files, make up etc in cool colors. I think I need a few more bottles of pink/red colors, they've started wearing those as much as the blues & greens. I still need to run up to Sprouts and Dollar Tree for a couple more things for my other weekly office. We're having our first ever official employee office lunch on Wednesday. It's been cool watching that company grow from husband/wife team to what they are today. Lunch should be fun. They're getting the pannetone-whatever and butter bags. My larger monthly clients are etting some goodies from Swiss Colony - I have biz cards finally so I'll put one on each of the client office gifts - so official!

Shirley - all the best for a smooth and successful surgery and hospital stay!
The 12K event was lovely - I had a great time, came in at 1:48 which is a toddle but meant that I didn't exert myself too much which is what I had promised myself. My friend came by in the wee hours of the morning to drop off my event packet, which was really sweet. I didn't see him because he was in the second wave (I was in the back) - usually we run a similar pace but I said we'd see him and his DW at the theatre in a few days and we can compare notes and I can buy him a pint. Pat was waiting for me at the finish line with my parka but I tore through and after dropping off my timing chip sprinted for the porta-potties lol. I have some photos but so far my phone doesn't play well with my computer so I have to set up some kind of drive for it.
We ran errands on the way home and got some teriyaki, I had a shower and am ready to have a cup of coffee and put my feet up.
Heh - I have 18 things listed on ebay. No...I could not stay away. But nothing has sold (not that I expect it to).
ETA: I followed the Beatles some when I was a teen, though can't stand them now. I always was a Motown gal and liked the Stones for rock. Smokey Robinson, Percy Sledge, Wilson Pickett, The 4 Tops, Gladys Knight, the Temps and Aretha. Got back onto the rock bandwagon with punk and I guess my favourite bands of all time are Pink Floyd and Talking Heads.

Chap, I upload my camera pics to either my Photobucket account or my Dropbox account, depending. If I need to edit, I upload from phone to Dropbox, log in Dropbox, download and then do whatever I need to the pics. Only takes a minute or so. I have a Mac and an Android phone so they don't really care to chat with each other.

I have a flip phone so it only works with Bluetooth. Turns out my tablet has Bluetooth capability so I set that up - what a pain, particularly since I knew NOTHING about Bluetooth. Now I do. My camera doesn't take great photos and the light was dim, plus I was fuddling with gloves on. It was a good day for a run; the beautiful cross-town trail: Past the halfway point with anatomically correct Geese A-Laying: The Evil Empire, JV Squad: Where's the danged porta-potty? I thought I was done at 7 miles but I wasn't. Silly me, it's 7.5 miles. No finish line photo - I was too busy scanning for Porta-Potties.
