Thank you! I did about 15 minutes of yoga this morning and that helped. I think I have a bit of tendinitis in it, too.
The DH had his first physical exam in years (10? 15?) and got a clean bill of health - much younger than age (I could have told them that!). I don't really have a doc since my PA transferred, and don't really go much, anyway, but I'm supposed to have a couple of tests I've been putting off for years (then Covid got in the way) so I'll probably go and see his doc, who sounds pretty good.

My Internet just went out. Again. Second time this week. Same time as last time. Estimated repair time same as last time. Google must do maintenance late night. It's annoying since I'm a night owl and the service is out for hours. I think I'll call Google tomorrow and see if I get a refund for the remainder of the billing period if I cancel. If not, I'll cancel right before the next billing date and get set back up with Spectrum or AT&T. I'm not paying for service that is down for 3-4 hours on multiple nights a week.

val2525 I have AT&T for years and years and never have had an outage. That being said, I am knocking on wood.

I did some internet searching and discovered that the outages seem to be fairly common for Google, and the "regular ones" are most likely related to regular system maintenance. LOTS of online complaints about it I know maintenance has to be done, but 2-3 times a week for 3.5-4 hours down each time? No way. I'm calling when I get back from my lab appointment to see about canceling the service. I'll check what A&T is offering first though

Hi, guys. It was supposed to rain this morning but we just had a few on and off light showers. We really need the rain, I was hoping for more. It's just muggy and warm now.
I'm steaming today for a photo session tomorrow. I hate it, but it has to be done. My back hates it more the older I get. Shopping is so much more fun than steaming and photographing lol. Sunday I plan to take a day to recuperate and have lunch and a movie with DH.
Well Val that sounds super frustrating about your internet! I've had Comcast for years with relatively few problems. I'd be so irritated if it was going down all the time. I was paying $52 a month but I got a deal for the next 12 months for $36 but then we'll see where it goes from there...
Chap I'm glad your hip is feeling better

Interesting. I'm supposed to have "up to" 1,000 mbps upload/download, but whenever I do a bandwidth test it's well UNDER 200 mbps. I just did one thru my google fiber account page and then one via speedtest.net, and the results were interesting. Speedtest shows my speed HALF of what GF shows.

Jes! How can you get Comcast so cheaply? Mine is over $200 a month. I have basic TV and internet. I do have an extra package in order to get MSNBC, but that is about $15 per month.

If it's anything up there like it is here, the TV is what is jacking up your price. My monthly bill w/ Spectrum would have tripled if I'd added streaming TV, even just the "basic" package. You can get live TV with a very inexpensive antenna, plus a bunch of other free channels. They'll have commercials but that's not a big deal. IMO anyway.

Our analog service via an antenna was ended many years ago. I often read on NextDoor about buying different add-ons to pick up local channels.
But no one seems very happy with what they can pick-up. And I sure don't understand any of it. The Dish TV doesn't pick up 2 out of 3 local channels.
If Verizon was allowed to be in my area, that would at least afford some competition against Comcast.

Real-world testing of transmission speed is rarely what these companies tout. I can't remember what we have right now but what we actually clock is much less.
We had a break in the rains - unfortunately, during that time I've been down with my hip. Bleh. The DH is hoping to get his longer ride in tomorrow before it starts up again, then it's rain through the middle of next week, then just the usual clouds. Temps have gone back to the usual during this time of year, mid-50s. It was in the upper 30s for weeks, which is cold for around here - mid-50s is about perfecto.

That's internet only. I pay $65 a month for Dish. I'm under contract through July 2025 but I'm sure I'll cancel (Dish) and go to streaming after that as know it will be going up. Plus their customer service was fantastic and now it's really gone downhill.

Denise, you can add an antenna and converter box and scan for the local channels. The thing is that you do need to have good reception. I bought a little tv for the gatehouse at work and it works great. We also have a tv with an antenna and digital converter but I can’t hear it (think big huge old clunky tv).
You can usually get the locals plus 3-5 more channels on each local plus ion and a few others.

Denise - you can get all the cable news stations (FOX, MSNBC, CNN, etc.) plus many other channels in Sling Blue for 40.00 per month, 20.00 for first month. www.sling.com/service/sling-blueAre you using an old-fashioned cable box on your TV that you get charged for, or are you streaming TV with a smart TV or using a ROKU or firestick to stream your channels?

Reminder to "spring forward" an hour before bedtime if you're unlucky enough to still deal with playing with clocks twice a year. Lose an hour sleep but gain an hour daylight.

UPS delivered my Kohls order to the wrong address because the third party seller did not include my apartment number on the item. UPS tried to deliver yesterday but couldn't as there was no apartment number. UPS delivered it today to an apartment according to the delivery pic, but it's not my apartment I filed a 'delivered to wrong address' claim with UPS. I checked, and my apartment number IS on my Kohls account and on the order itself. It's annoying when sellers don't pay attention when they ship Also, I make sure my apt # is on the first line with the street address, so there is no chance a shipper won't pick up the second "optional" line that is often used for apt #s. Oh well. Since Kohls has the correct address and this is on the shipper, hopefully either the shipper will ship out another one or Kohls will refund me. Sunny and 60 here, with a light north wind.

Wow-will check into that! I have the TV box that I get charged for, and can record up to about 100 shows. My 2 small TV's upstairs have the Roku attachment.
I doubt that my TV is smart since it was my Mom's and is about 15 years old.
Also, my internet comes through that box and my modem, I think.

You can watch a LOT of shows on Roku, both older shows and past episodes of shows still currently aired. If you want to upgrade to a smart TV, they're pretty inexpensive these days. You can get a good selection for under $100.

We just bought a bigger TV for the upstairs bedroom at a good price. Instead of getting a regular smart TV and adding a ROKU stick we purchased a ROKU TV. ROKU now makes their own TVs or they come in a few other brands - TCL, Hisense, Onn, Pioneer, and Sharp all have built-in ROKU. Samsung seems to be one of the few brands where you can get a pedestal base for the TV. Most of the other brands have those small legs on each end so you need to have a wide area to place the TV if you aren't planning on mounting it. I don't like those small legs, they are too far apart, but they are a lot cheaper to make than a large center pedestal. I guess the TV makers are keeping the pricing down with that aspect too.

I can only get prime-time recorded shows on my upstairs TV's when I record them on my big downstairs TV.
But do you ladies get your internet separately? My only option is Comcast, which comes with the TV. But I guess that I could get them separately.
I am so confused.

I have internet only and use streaming subscriptions. I have a Roku smart TV. I pay all year for Acorn, BritBox and Prime Video. (Prime Video though is part of Amazon's regular Prime membership so it doesn't count IMO LOL). The others I only pay part-year for. I wait until the new season of my shows have been downloaded (example, Bridgerton and Virgin River on Netflix), then I reactivate the membership for a month or two, to binge watch the shows. Then I pause or cancel the sub until the next seasons' shows come back. Since I don't watch Netflix, Paramount+ (CBS), Peacock (NBC) or Hulu outside of some current season shows, why pay for the subs all year? I recently discovered Roku has a HUGE collection of shows (excluding current season) and I've been binge watching on Roku. Which is good, because Roku is free I can get ABC News, CBS News and NBC News independently of those network's streaming subscriptions. Even if I kept all my streaming subs active all year, I'd still be paying less than what basic cable would cost me. Most of my TV watching is Acorn, BritBox and Roku. My least watched services are Hulu and Netflix. Although I may start watching Will Trent on Hulu. I've read some of the Will Trent books and they're good.

If it rains anymore, we are going to float away. Supposed to stop around 11 PM. Tomorrow it is supposed to rain around 5 PM for a short period. Hopefully that is enough for quite some stretch. My house is totally gross. I think I am going to tell the cleaners to do the furniture and regular LVP floors but not to vacuum the carpet. They are saturated with dirt and mud and rain water from the dogs. I can’t shampoo them until the yard dries out. It is very depressing.
Ugh. 6 wet dogs. Pouring down rain.

labbypaws Seattle's nickname is City of Wet Dogs (ETA: Though official is The Emerald City). We used to have muddy paw prints all over the kitchen floor and front foyer from the cats dragging in dirt and mud, particularly Jamie furry butt as she had fur on the bottoms of her feet. I can't even imagine with six big dogs what you have to chase after! We get Sling - we watch Husky football, bike racing and boxing/MMA pay per view. That's how I managed to do the PPV for the first bareknuckle boxing card to be presented for probably about 120 years or so (no Sling back then lol). Beyond that neither of us watch TV - we get lousy reception at our house and don't follow enough shows to warrant any sort of setup. The DH likes videos. Videos/movies bother my eyes so I only watch in small doses, plus YouTube tutorials. We talked about streaming but decided right now to stick to Sling. We've had squalls blowing through today - black, black clouds, high winds and stinging rain. Our lights were flickering for a while and one of the transformers blew, but City Light installed a back-up if I recall so our lights stayed on, even if a bit shakily for a while. Now it's quiet, though it might get squally again.

Will Trent is one of my favorite shows.
This is weird....I just got a notice this afternoon that my cable bill went down $15. No idea why, unless they saw me whining on here-LOL. Who knows what it will be next month?
I will pay more attention on Nextdoor when people complain about the streaming services in my area.
I like the ability to just record all of the evening shows that I like and to watch them when I am not watching MSNBC. Currently, I am recording at least 18 different shows, so they do build up.

With a streaming subscription, you don't need to record anything. You just click on the show you want to watch, when you want to watch it. Most of the time, a streaming service will have all seasons and all episodes of a show. Right now, I'm watching season 1 of Will Trent on Hulu.
