Since my daughter is doing so well on there, I started to list stuff on Marketplace yesterday and sold a cookbook tonight right after I listed it.
I use the shipping option, and this guy is in MA.
My daughter insists that I also offer pick-up and she will meet the people for me, since I won't do that.
We have 20 area selling sites around here, so I just click to post on all of them. And until 2021, there is no fee. After that, they take 5%. I don't know how that will affect my daughter who sells furniture and stuff for $100's.

Marketplace is going to start charging? I sell on there occasionally.

They say that there will be a 5% fee as of 2021. I am wondering how that will affect my daughter. You can see the fee waiver if you Google.
Do you know anything about if an int'l buyer can buy my stuff when I have a "ship only" option? I can't find that info anywhere. I don't want to put a $3 media mail charge on a book, and have someone in Germany buy it.
And I also just read that I will be limited to 10 items for the first 30 days, if I ship the item. So I guess I will have to make my cookbooks local pick-up....

Thanks. So it looks like only shipped items will be charged. At the top of that article it states about the 5% fees being waived until 2021.

I honestly didn't even know that was an option with FB Marketplace.
ETA: Okay, so just poked around and they changed the listing process completely. I am going to set up shipping tonight when I get home and list some stuff. Even when it kicks in 5% is a small price to pay for more exposure.

Interesting that you can ship. Too bad you have to use FB.

I have been unable to ascertain what happens if an Int'l buyer purchases something. Please let me know if you find out.
Meanwhile, I guess that I will state that shipping will only be in the USA.
I also can't figure out how out of state buyers see something that is only posted to the local sites. I have posted a few times to eBay marketplace (whatever that is), but my daughter doesn't. And she gets out of state buyers too.

Oh man - now my hustle is having conflicts with my hatred of Facebook. Maybe I can just use it to unload some heavy stuff and that's it (I have Z-racks to get rid of).

Same here, but not only would you have to join FB, which is horrifying enough, but you'd have to join w/your real name & info. There's no way. I'll stick with CL for the big stuff. I just can't bring myself to use something that is more or less spyware. Despite all my family & friends wanting me on it.

I’m having trouble setting up my shipping on Facebook. It has rejected both of my bank accounts. I joined a group for marketplace shipping and a few said I need to try on the laptop, not the app. I’m really excited about getting approval. FYI if you have t listed on marketplace, there’s a switch to toggle so your FbB friends cannot see your ads. You can sell instead of re-gift without concern.

Facebook is basically a system of digital serfs (we're the serfs) who provide constant data for Fuckerberg's empire, all so we can use a "free" service which is not really free. I put up with it until they started allowing freebooting meddling with the electoral process and now I won't. I won't give any information, proof of my existence or anything. I do understand why they ask, but no. So I guess my hustle will win out and I'll flog my stuff elsewhere. I did do very well selling in groups there, which is a more benign way of dealing with the site (i.e., use it on a personal level until you don't need it, then kick it to the curb).

Thanks! I was looking for "discussion groups", so maybe that is why I couldn't find anything. I requested to join.

denise15601 I googled "Facebook marketplace selling group" and that's the first one that came up on my screen. As soon as I get some free time (hah!) I'm going to look into some of those groups. I sell on Marketplace, but only big stuff that can't be shipped.

Since I can only list 10 items to be shipped for the first 30 days, I am listing a bunch of my heavy stuff. My daughter told me that she and her guy friend will meet the people.
Super easy to list on there.

My objections aren't even the moral ones. Though there's plenty of those. It's with the technical side of things & how they mine your data without your permissions, etc. I won't even get into it. It's all pretty well known nowadays, though it wasn't early on, when I first ran into it.

As long as people know what they're getting in to (I know people here do and I don't hate on anyone who uses FB, I just try not to).

Locally and shipping. My daughter will meet the locals for me. I am listing heavy stuff that I have had sitting here for years for local pick-up.
The 3 sales that I made are books that are going out of state. I am listing the books for shipping only.

Pantlandia Marketplace is having a free shipping promo from Sept 11 to the 13th. I listed a Lenox bank last night that I have had on eBay for 10 years and it sold!

I have sold so much stuff on Facebook Marketplace and our local yardsale sites. Everything from $5 lot of books to $7000 trailer. I used to really love the Facebook Marketplace but they have changed the layout and it is a pain in the butt to keep track of what needs to be refreshed but I am still selling, not quite as much since the change but enough to make it worthwhile. I do not ship and I do not meet people without my husband around. I will leave stuff on the porch and tell them to tuck the cash under my front door mat. I have not had any problems with that set up. I am i the process of liquidating a restaurant and a hair salon using Facebook Marketplace.
Just heads up, they will take down or flag your listing for ridiculous reasons and there is really no customer service to clear your account or get item back up for sale.
Be really careful when selling shoes and don't use the terms upper and lower as the trigger you have listed a weapon warning, lol.

Thanks Alli. Didn't know about upper and lower.
Apparently they will soon have a button to click to "renew all".
